Yes wondering whether this might be an incomplete schedule. With late head coach change, maybe things are still in motion on the scheduling.

You could be right, although given that Olney stepped down in July and his assistant was promoted to interim, you would have thought that the schedule would have been basically done already.

In any event, the addition of two games with Lewis & Clark as it transitions to conference play in the NWC has reduced everyone's non-conference schedule already, so Puget Sound is only playing 3 fewer games overall than last year and still a perfectly reasonable total number of games (17) compared to D3 teams nationally (although the NWC doesn't have a conference tournament given its round robin conference schedule format, while schools in other conferences can often play more games than they have scheduled originally because of those tournaments and therefore leave room at the end of the schedule to account for that).

Dickinson

Just waiting on Haverford, Swarthmore and F&M

Here's Franklin & Marshall.  The Stevens game to open the season over Labor Day weekend should be a good gauge for both teams.

Swarthmore

Some decent non-conference opponents, including Rosemont, Coast Guard Academy, Kean, and New Jersey City University

Only missing Haverford from the Centennial

Centennial Conference is now complete

Haverford

Out of conference schedule looks like the kind of schedule you create as a new coach to build confidence as you try to turn around a program (or maybe those are the only kind of opponents you can find when other schools are looking for out of conference opponents to help their strength of schedule and your school had a down season last year).  Some decent opponents, but many of those are holdovers from last year's schedule.  MIT is new.

Can not expect much.  The coach was interim through the spring.

The last NWC holdout, Pacific. Notable is the out of conf travel to California for Cal Lutheran and UC Santa Cruz.

That's actually pretty unusual given how far away Cal Lutheran is from UC Santa Cruz.  Either they are flying down to LA and then flying back to Oregon with a layover in San Jose or they are attempting some crazy road trip.  Usually, teams schedule two games in LA, but they must have had trouble finding a school to pair with Cal Lutheran.

Looks like Santa Cruz is hosting both Cal Lutheran and Pacific along with some others (Whitworth). So several NWC teams doing some heavy out of conference traveling.

That makes more sense.  I should have known.  Pacific and Cal Lutheran are just meeting in the middle.

A lot of teams reported in the last day or two for preseason training, so, in a sense, today is the start of the D3 men's soccer fall activities.

Many schedules don't list scrimmages they have scheduled during preseason, if they have any, but those that do generally take place next week, with a critical mass of schools listing scrimmages having them taking place on Tuesday.

BUT, two schools are actually playing a game TONIGHT! at 7 pm Central.

Mary Hardin-Baylor @ Texas Lutheran.

Now, technically, it is listed as a "reserve" exhibition game, but at this point in preseason, the lines between the fringe players on the first team and the reserve team are probably at least a little blurry.

So, I think it's fair to say that first official (exhibition) game of the preseason that is not an intrasquad scrimmage is starting in a little over an hour.

(Incidentally, Texas Lutheran has five preseason exhibition games listed, three of them listed as reserve game exhibitions, which has to be a record for preseason games against other schools!)

Best of luck to all involved deep in the heart/heat of Texas!

Crazy they start scrimmages on day 2!  great info from everyone.

In case it was lost on page 1: https://masseyratings.com/csoc/ncaa-d3/games  link to the MASTER D3 Schedule.

If you missed the MHB-Texas Lutheran reserve squad scrimmage last night, the next earliest scrimmage I could find is tomorrow:

Sunday, Aug 20

Paul Smith College @ SUNY Canton, 2 pm eastern

After that, the floodgates for scrimmages open (which is not exactly the metaphor I should be using in Southern California right now as the floods are literally predicted to come Sunday for us with a hurricane heading our way)
