Those who have been around a while know that the boards that soccer fans enjoy here are actually provided by the D3sports.com team, which focuses on other sports (primarily American football, basketball, and baseball in more or less that order).  There used to be a separate team that handled the soccer side of things (and there was a supporting d3soccer.com standalone site) but the volunteers who ran it were eventually exhausted by the effort and all that's left (other than SC's new D3Soccer.Fans site) are the men's and women's soccer boards here.

If you've used this site enough you know there are times it is cranky, slow, or unresponsive.  The D3sports.com team announced in their football podcast today that the boards will be moved to a new site later this week, so even though this isn't really something they support (other than allowing the boards to continue), we should all benefit after the transition.   The time hasn't been announced, but when I hear I'll update this thread.

So wiping the slate clean?  New usernames etc?  That's likely going to do a big number on participation here.  Boards still haven't really recovered post-covid, having to create new usernames and all that, while simple on its face, is likely going to deter participation even more.  Hopefully not.

Everytime I see this topic, I keep thinking of Roscoe Tanner for some reason.

Not arguing the point, more of a "yes, and..."

I think that the repeated periods of this board being down and/or crashing has cost the board a lot of losses and decreased participation. Hopefully a more stable platform will keep people coming back and/or retain existing members.

No argument, and we all felt it. Our up time has been really good for the past six months or so, but yes, on Mondays in the fall it's been a smidge unreliable.

The goal is to cover that smidgen.

It's migrating the current software and content to a server that we don't have to share with anyone else.

The migration took place last night and appears to have been a success.

I wondered when it was going to take place.  Knowing that it is already done is outstanding.
