I'd take Oswego State vs. Texas Pan American

Yeah, pre-season, that seems to be the best chance.

Although Elon's got two games against d3 and they're not very good.

Southern had the lowest Sagarin rating last year, maybe MacMurray will spring an upset there!

Big Boy Pool:

Which of the 40 games vs the Big Boys will produce the most favorable scoring margin for a D3 team??? :o :o ??? ::)
Fun question because we D3 fanatics probably know a whole lot more about the D3 team capabilities than we know regarding the D1 teams!!!

I'll take Wesley vs. William & Mary.

George Mason(RV votes) scores 18 straight late in 1st half to bust open a close game over Lycoming(MAC-Commonwealth) 90-62. (Washington Post)

I'm actually going to see UTPA play Northwestern a week from Sunday.. they're heading up to play both NW and DePaul that weekend.

The head coach is from the Chicago area and one of the assistants is my former teammate/roommate Nick Bennett from UWSP.

Captain Bob... take it off the board please...  for CNU, it is an exhibition game... there are a large number of them... the games in the discussion are real count em in the record games...  (note - any game prior to 11/15 is exhibition - a real game, but doe not count in the D3 team records).
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Captain Bob

Sorry for the mistake, I wasn't aware of the 11/15 rule.

hopefan

No problem Captain... and of course this would be the spot to post the results of exhibition games vs D1..... ;)

It looks like ESPN is airing some of these pre-season exhibitions.  St. Mary's (MD) vs St. John's was on ESPN3 last night and the Transylvania-Kentucky game is scheduled for ESPN3 tonight.

I really appreciate ESPN3.  We have basic cable from comcast, which means we get only the broadcast channels, but it does give me access to ESPN3, so there's very little I miss not having ESPN on the TV.

Clearly an exhibition game, but Augustana (Il) is playing at Valparaiso tomorrow.  Augustana is ranked # 2 in the pre-season d3hoops.com poll, so this poses an intriguing matchup between a top tier Division 3 team and a solid mid major.

Coverage, including links to the webcast can be found on Augustana's web site at http://www.augustana.edu/x11824.xml?eventid=7177

Augustana has a considerable size advantage over the Crusaders.

That is the opposite of 90% of the D-1 vs. D-3 matchups, at least from just a gut reaction.

So I watched about 45 seconds of the Kentucky-Transylvania game.  Let's just say that it's probably worth the chance to play on the court at Rupp.  The game itself is a bit silly.

I watched a creditable performance by St. Mary's in a loss to St. John's 77-70 on espn3.com. It was close throughout and tied with 4 mins left, despite reduced mins from McAuley who picked up 2 fouls in 1st min. Game is available for viewing on the website under the replay link.

Obviously, you mean St. John's (NY) not St. John's (MN).   ;) Otherwise, that's a heck of a roadie for a weekday exhibition game!
