I see we have entered the "D-1 beatdown of D-3 teams" portion of our schedule. Wow, from really good D-3 teams (Marietta) to mediocre-at-best (Spalding, who got nothing and liked it) it just wasn't a good day to be a D-3 against a D-1.

Yes.. our performance vs D1 is not impressive.... we are losing those 28 games by an average of 38 points per game

only 2 losses by single digits
UC Santa Cruz 78,  UC Davis 84
MacMurray 57, Southern  66

obviously numerous BAD losses...... the worst:
Lyndon St 37, Yale 101.... 64 point loss

Wentworth currently playing D1 Texas-Pan American. The Leopards hung with the Broncs for half of the first period only down 17-16 with 10:11 left. But the Broncs ended the half on an 11-2 run to go up 40-24 at the break . The Broncs now lead 53-30 with 15:26 to play.

Oswego State plays the Broncs on January 3rd. I think, as Knightslappy, (I believe) said earlier, that the Lakers may make a game of it against the Texas Boys.

Wentworth falls to Texas-Pan American 65-48. We go to 0-29.

Rochester (Mich) is a dual member -- first year NAIA and charter USCAA member.

Rochester is in the middle of an absolutely brutal stretch of games for any small college team.

Tennessee-Martin(D1), Eastern Michigan(D1), Huntington(NAIA II), Grand Valley State(D2), Oakland(D1) so far, all on the road, all losses.  They play at Austin Peay(D1) on Saturday.

I don't know if I mentioned this before... but Nick Bennett (UWSP '05) is an assistant at UTPA.  I saw them play Northwestern earlier this season.  They play really good defense but don't have a whole lot of offense.

This is a pretty amazing score.  Wentworth has not been playing great ball this year at all - and with the current set up, they have to hit threes to even be close.  Does UTPA play any other d3s?  This could be a victory for us given the right matchup.

Keene state (LEC) is playing Nova Southeastern out of NCAA division 2 this afternoon at 3:00 PM.  I'll have updates of the game over on the LEC board.

You know if Ashford ever played Simpson (which really they could being from Iowa and all), I wonder how many song puns I could work into a recap...

I think someone mentioned they play Oswego State. Now that's a roadie!

That someone was me and the game between Oswego and Texas-Pan American is on January 3rd. Hope the Lakers come to play and don't get caught up with enjoying the warm weather. It gets pretty nasty in Oswego, with the wind and snow whipping in off Lake Ontario this time of year. I remember one year back in the 60's when I visited Oswego in January. Blizzard conditions with 50+ mph winds. Had a borrowed Cadillac Coupe de Ville. Parked the car in front of their dorms, opened the door and the wind just about tore it off it's hinges. Sprung the hell out of it and had to pay a small fortune to get it fixed before returning it to the owner. Ah, the good old days. :)

The Lakers may be our best chance to steal one from the DI boys. The Texas team isn't any bigger than the Lakers so hopefully Oswego bigs, 6'7" D3 All American Chad Burridge and teammate 6'6" Hayden Ward can match up with TPA bigs. The Broncos start 3 guards that go 6'3", 6'3", and 6'1". Their starting bigs are 6'7" and 6'5". They do have a 6'9" bench player who played 11 minutes against Wentwoth and scored 6 pts with 4 boards. They are a guard oriented team with only 2 players averaging double figures, (14.8  12.6) both guards.  Oswego bigs average 20.0 (Burridge) and 15.6 (Hayden)  I think the Lakers will at the very least keep this one competitive.

Why is Texas-Pan American playing a sampler platter of D-III teams this year? Are they trying to trick their fans into thinking these are D-I teams they are playing?

I don't know but that match up would be solid. Solid as a rock.
