If we have any south central reps that read this page, or just plain basketball detectives who want a challenge, I challenge you to find a Rust - Texas College score from 12/1  (note, they played once already at Texas College, on 11/25... though D3hoops doesn't have that game posted... Texas College won 101-92)... according to both schools, they were to play again at Rust on 12/1....my email has gone unanswered and I can't find anyone in either basketball office over the phone....the score is not on either site, or NCAA.com, or NAIA.org, or D3hoops... ???

I know it's tough for SCIAC teams to find non-conference opponents, but I smiled when I saw Occidental's score updates against something called Future College.

Their mascot is the Orange Owlz, spelled that way. It looks like their academic offerings focus on sports management, sports therapy, etc. Yet when you try to click on the athletics link off the home page, it's a dead link.

Guess they'll add that in the future.

Three things I love about Rust College, even though it's tough to find their scores.

1 - Years ago when I went looking for Rust scores, I would visit their athletics page just for fun. Not because it had scores, but because it had a MIDI file with Eye of the Tiger played on a 1980s synthesizer that started every time you load the page.

2 - They play Tougaloo College, which you can't say without smiling. Go ahead. Try it. I hope their mascot is the Electric Boogaloo.

3 - They prominently feature all the awards they've received from D3hoops.com over the years and there's been a handful of Regional All-Stars. I gather that they have some good players but not a lot of staff resources.

Note to Pat: Invite Rust to the D3hoops.com Classic in Vegas next year and have them play Future College!

I had a similar experience going to a school's website where the athletic records had not been updated since 2012 - probably tells you all you need to know about their competitiveness! :P

And who in their right mind would go to "Future College"?  Don't you want a college, like, now?! ::)

We used to have a regular poster from there, and I got the impression he was an asst. coach, not just a fan (though I may be wrong on that).  I wonder if we will see him again.

Yes that fellow is gone... he posted under the moniker 'Rust College' and took some serious grief here for his avid support of Rust players for all American status... I actually met him several times as Rust plays Webster regularly (Webster Coach Chris Bunch had coached at Maryville, Tenn, where he had built a relationship with Rust)... Can't remember the fellow's name, but he was men's assistant, then got the Women's head coaching job, lasted 2 years, then was gone...

Rust plays solid Men's basketball... the rest of their athletic department is pretty much a shambles... that's why the SAA or SCAC would never be able to consider taking them in....
