Is there something I don't know about that would explain why this hasn't been mentioned?

UMass-Boston takes down Holy Cross on the road.

It's listed as an exhibition so not included in team records.

Although it appears to have counted as a loss on Holy Cross' schedule? Game recap alludes to them "dropping to 1-9". Isn't being counted as a win for UMB however. Something has to be wrong on HC's side then.

It's not uncommon for a game to be counted as 'real' by the D1 but exhibition by the D3.

There are a significant number of D3 games vs D1 teams each year that count as real games for D1, but are played as exhibitions for D3.....  there are also some actual countable games for D3 versus D1... exhibition vs real kind of depends on whether the D3 team is already at their limit of 25 scheduled games.

Thanks though for bringing up the Mass-Boston game.... it's always huge when a D3 team beats a D1, even in an exhibition game... I don't track the exhibition games... not sure if D3 has any other wins over D1 this year or not...

Working at a D2 school now, we play games that we count as exhibition (our women vs. Seattle U. for example) and then play games where a D3 school or NAIA school uses it as an exhibition (our men vs. Evergreen State).

Hmmmm, UMass Boston, after surprising the basketball world by beating D1 Holy Cross on Tuesday (yes, an exhibition for UMB), they come back and lose to Tufts by 22 on Wednesday...?

possible thoughts... vote for one

1)  UMass Boston player heard to say.."hey we just beat a D1 team, who needs to worry about a D3 team??"
2)   UMass Boston coach heard to say... "My kids put in everything they had against a D1 team.. they were dead on their feet tonight"
3)   UMass Boston coach heard to say... "Why did I ever schedule an important D3 game back to back with a game vs a game vs a D1 team?"
4)   UMass Boston player heard to say..."damn, can't believe we finished that whole keg celebrating the win last night.. where did the 2nd keg come from?"
5)   a Sportswriter writes.. "UMB loses to Tufts by 22?.. How bad must Holy Cross be?"

Hopefan says... the UMass Boston players will likely remember the win over Holy Cross as the pinnacle of their Basketball experience for the rest of their lives....
