WLCALUM83

Edgewood 28, Benedictine 27  Half

WLCALUM83

Final:  Edgewood 63, Benedictine 46  (IL Eagles had a cold-shooting game here)

Captain_Joe08

#1142
Wisconsin Lutheran 60
Marian 50

Warriors shot 39% (5/22 from three) while Marian shot 40% (10/23 from Three). It seemed that every time WLC was threatening to pull away, Marian hits a three to keep the game under ten.

Concordia Wisconsin 80
Aurora 60

Maranatha 70
Dominican 55

Rockford 56
MSOE 47
Shocker of the day....

Concordia Chicago 86
Lakeland 67

I almost picked the CUC game as an 'upset special". (Box score indicates Genke, Koehler & Rickett all had higher than ususal scoring --31, 19, and 20 pts respectively--  CUC  -- 40 pts in the paint for the game) On top of that, 3 of the next 4 Muskie games are on the road (Alverno, Maranatha and WLC, home game vs. Rockford). The danger here would be if Lakeland goes into a long slump.

WLCALUM83

1/14:  MSOE/Maranatha:  Crusaders get another home win.

1/15:  Lakeland/Alverno:  Toss-up.  (X-factor:  All of Alverno's starters have been logging 30 min. or more playing time per in-conference game thus far. That won't hurt them much for this game-they didn't have to play yesterday)

Pick:  Lakeland--mainly because the Muskies need this one more.

1/16:  Dominican/WLC:  Warriors
CUC/Rockford:      CUC in a close one.
Edgewood/CUW:   Edgewood in another one that could go either way.
          Benedictine/Aurora:     IL Eagles
          Marian/MSOE:           Marian

Totally agree there. Especially with the North being as tight as it is Lakeland can't afford to go into a slump. If they do, they could very much be out of the race for the final spot in the North after that stretch.

MSOE at Maranatha: Maranatha gets a little closer to the leaders in the North.

Lakeland at Alverno: I concur that Lakeland needs a win here to right the ship but I think Alverno gets the nod here especially after what Concordia Chicago did to the Muskies in River Forest Saturday.

Dominican at WLC: Maybe this is the game where the Warriors can get those kinks from the last few games taken care of.

Concordia Chicago at Rockford: Cougars are getting into a groove lately especially after Saturday's blowout win against Lakeland.

Edgewood at Concordia Wisconsin: I agree this one can go either way, but the Falcons get the home nod here.

Benedictine at Aurora: Benedictine is establishing itself as the #2 team in the south.

Marian at MSOE: Marian hung tough with the Warriors Saturday on the strength of 10/23 from three point land but could not get the edge to pull the upset. They rebound here.

MSOE 50

Final

Almost the big difference here: Free Throws both attempted and made

MSOE 19/23
Maranatha 6/12

Both teams shot poorly (MSOE 26% Maranatha 32%)

Boy if MSOE could have pulled that off, that would have been huge.

#1149
Alverno 48, Lakeland 42  Final

(PBP account indicates Inferno had a 14-2 scoring run in the 2nd half to get breathing room, and held on. Gorman had another big scoring night before fouling out. Looking like a real dogfight between the top 3 in the North.)

Well, not quite. Becky Mayo had a jumper at 14:08 of the second half, but...

They went from 4:05 of the first half to 14:08 of the second half, so that's a drought of 9:57 without a field goal.

They went from 14:08 of the second half to 4:36, so that's a drought of 9:28 without a field goal.

So, in all they went from 4:05 of the first half to 4:36 of the second half, a span of 19:39 and only scored one field goal.

Ok that's what it was. Either way offense was an issue.

Yeah, that's not going to win many games.
