Maranatha v Alverno tonight. Cancelled due to weather. Rescheduled for February 15th.

WLCALUM83

That puts that game right between Benedictine and Wisconsin Lutheran. Given the conditions, however, it's the right move to make.

Maranatha vs. Aurora and Rockford vs. Lakeland were cancelled.

MBBC/Aurora re-scheduled for 2/15.

Rockford/Lakeland re-scheduled for 2/11.

WLCALUM83

Edgewood 70, Alverno 35--final:  (Inferno shooting went cold on them early in 2nd--per Eagle broadcasting account).

WLCALUM83

#320
Final:  WLC 69, Concordia-Chicago 56. (Big win WLC had to get.)
WLC:  W Miller & K Dillon alone combined for 37 Warrior points. WLC outshot CU-Chicago from the floor some 44% to 22% in the 2nd half. Cougars out-rebounded on the game as well--WLC box score.

Half:  Concordia-WI 40, Benedictine 33.

WLCALUM83

#321
Final:  Concordia-WI 78, Benedictine 74. (Eagles' Curtis --35 points, Falcons' Davis, Beckum, and Mayyou offset that with big scoring games of their own).

Final:  Marian 61, Dominican 54. (Marian outshot the Stars all around and outrebounded them--per Dominican box score.)

WLCALUM83

2/08/07 NAthCon Projections:

Lakeland over Benedictine: (Only because the Muskies are at home--too close to call otherwise.)

Dominican over Alverno:  (Stars have slight height advantage in this battle to escape the basement. Inferno still could win this if it plays a full 40 minutes.)

Aurora over Edgewood:  (Home game for the Spartans--too close to call game #2).

Rockford over Maranatha:  (Could be close if Crusaders are hitting their 3's. They need to hang tough on the boards.)

Concordia-Chicago over Marian:  (Cougars stay alive for another day.)

Concordia-WI over WLC. (Falcons' Beckum has a hot 3-point shooting hand of late--Warriors rarely win in Mequon anyway.)

WLCALUM83

Remaining Schedule for NAthCon Contenders:

Concordia-WI:  vs. WLC, at Maranatha, at Marian, vs. Dominican.

WLC:  at Concordia-WI, at Benedictine, vs. Lakeland, vs. Maranatha.

Benedictine:  at Lakeland, vs. WLC, at Maranatha, at Edgewood.

Aurora:  vs. Edgewood, at Dominican, at Alverno, vs. Maranatha, at Rockford.

Edgewood:  at Aurora, at Concordia-Chicago, at Rockford, vs. Benedictine.

Lakeland:  vs. Benedictine, at Alverno, vs. Rockford, at WLC, vs. Marian.

Marian:  at Concordia-Chicago, vs. Rockford, vs. Concordia-WI, at Lakeland.

Concordia-Chicago:  vs. Marian, vs. Edgewood, vs. Dominican,  vs. Alverno.

Here we go:  Concordia-Chicago's kicking themselves big time for losing the last game they had against Rockford. All 4 of the Cougar games are at home, but a Marian win coupled with a Concordia-Chicago loss and the Cougars are eliminated from the conference tournament.

Aurora, (on paper, anyway) would appear to have the easiest of the schedules.

If Marian lost 3 of its' last four games, the Sabers would also be eliminated. This poster, however, does not see that happening--barring the unforeseen.

We wanted a dog-fight. We're getting one.  :-X :-\ :) ;) :D :) ;) :D

Ruppe is a nice player, but statistically(conference) her stats don't quite match up with Scheele. While they are playing in different systems, I believe Scheele has had more of am impact on her team and the conference. Arguments can be made for a handful of players this season. It'll be interesting to see how it all pans out.

As much as you say Scheele has had an impact, that is great with a team you can shine on with no other big hitters.  With CUW, Ruppe  can't stand out as much as she should because their whole team is stacked.  They have depth with their starters and players coming off the bench.  I believe that Ruppe has done more throughout the entire season in the tough games.  When they met for head-to-head match, they were in in their stats.  Scheele had 17 pts with 5 rebonds and Ruppe has 16 pts with 5 rebounds.  If Scheele was so much of a better player, she would have stood out in that game.  Stats are only numbers.....it depends on the player, and overall Ruppe is the better player!

So you're going to punish Scheele because she doesn't play on a "stacked" team? I'm not saying Ruppe isn't deserving of the honor, but you can't rule Scheele out. A longtime follower of the LMC and especially Lakeland College, the POY has been typically based on stats-and yes, they are just #'s- but they factor in (the NIIC operated in a similar fashion). Catherine Chappel from MSOE was last year's POY and she also played on a team with no other big hitters. Those stats that you quoted in head to head tell me that they both played solid. It's not Scheele's fault that her team needs her to do more than Ruppe does. An  argument for Ruppe- she's a senior on the top team in the NAC and she's solid. You have to give credit to Scheele because as a sophomore- she's pleading her case. I've seen both players play numerous games and I'm taking it you've only seen Scheele play CUW? It could go either way and honestly- maybe neither one of them come out with it.

Just some other observations--the closest thing to a big hitter C Chappell had for support last season was Courtney Femling (who averaged 10 points per game less  than Chappell did).

This season, for comparison's sake, Edgewood's 2 other top scorers have been Jordan Kittoe and Nickie Updike, while Concordia-WI has K Mayyou and Asia Beckum (who has been shooting the net to shreds from 3-point range of late.)

Again, it's not so much that Edgewood isn't loaded, it's that the Eagle starters as a whole for most of this season have had to put in more minutes than the Falcon starters.

#327
Final:  Concordia-WI 69, WLC 59. (WLC cut it down to 13 with 3 1/2 minutes left, but Concordia would either hit a shot or get an offensive rebound late. Had the Warriors been able to convert off of more of the Falcons' first half turnovers, it would have been a tighter game. Dillon had a career high in points, in the losing cause.)

0:29 left in 2nd--Benedictine 50, Lakeland 29. (Muskies shot 18% from the field on the game. Benedictine's Tamika Curtis had 18 rebounds. Muskies' Boehm had 12 points, but not much help.)

An Aurora loss, and Concordia-WI clinches the NAthCon regular season title.

Other 2/08/07 NAthCon Finals:

(Libero, I hope you're sitting down:)

Rockford College 57, Maranatha 56. (Rockford's Chelsea Slater got T'd up late in the game. Amber Lang hit 1 of 2 free throws. The Crusaders had one more opportunity, but a Colleen Goff turnover did them in-- as indicated on Regents' box score.)

Marian 66, Concordia-Chicago 60. (Sabers went on a 17-5 scoring run to end the game. Concordia-Chicago 4-31 from 3-point range.--Marian box score.)

Dominican 68, Alverno 53.
