1/22 Women's NAthCon Finals:

Benedictine 90, Alverno 59 (IL Eagles 15-21 from beyond the arc for the game, per Inferno press release--)

Concordia-WI 68, Maranatha 41 (21% 1st half shooting did the Lady Crusaders in, per Maranatha press release)

Dominican 72, Rockford 69  :o :o ??? ??? (A Julkowski 3-pt FG with 49 seconds left put the Stars ahead to stay--they hit their FT's in the end to seal this one-per Star play-by-play account) (Regents' Butler had 31 pts, 4 Stars scored in double figures. Stars got to the line more and out-rebounded Rockford).

Edgewood 56, Lakeland 52 (This one was tied at 50, but Eagles' clutch shooting in the end was the difference, per Edgewood press release-Eagles' Scheele had a 24-pt night).

Marian 65, MSOE 38 (Lady Raiders shot 22% from the floor for the game-per Marian press release).

Concordia-Chicago 65, WLC 55 (Warriors cut a 24-pt 2nd half defict down to 5, but could get no closer, because the Cougars' Marche Smith hit all her free throws late to seal this one-Warriors' Lindert only saw 13 minutes of action per CUC box score).

1/25-26/08 Women's NAthCon Finals:

1/25:  Concordia-Nebraska 89, Concordia-Chicago 49

1/26:  Concordia-Chicago 67, Concordia-WI 65 (Falcons' Wallace missed a potential game-tying lay-up with 2 seconds left, per play-by-play account off Cougar website.

Aurora 65, Edgewood 54 (A 2nd half Aurora 13-2 scoring run was the difference in this one. WI Eagles' Scheele held to 13 points, per Edgewood press release).

Lakeland 55, Benedictine 42 (IL Eagles had 21 turnovers, per Lakeland press release--Lakeland had 15 steals in this contest).

Rockford 62, MSOE 47 (Caught this one live. Raiders' Guthrie hit a lay-up just before halftime to give MSOE a 30-29 lead, but a 13-2 Rockford run coming out of the locker room was the difference here. MSOE cut it down to 5, but got no closer.)

Maranatha 73, Dominican 70 (Crusaders' Goff and Nichols made crucial free-throws and Goff tipped the ball away on Dominican's last possession to secure the win, per Maranatha press release).

WLC beats Marian by 10 on the road last night. Warriors saw a 15 pt 2nd half lead reduced to 6, but were able to milk the shot clock on several possessions late, get several key rebounds and one steal, force Marian to foul and then cash in at the free-throw line to escape Fond du Lac with a win-per WLC radio account..

Congrats to Maranatha's Colleen Goff and Concordia-Chicago's Ellie Bravo on  reaching the 1,000 point milestone!  :) ;) :D

2/02/08 Women's NAthCon Finals:

Concordia-WI 74, Benedictine 56 (Falcons wore Eagles down in 2nd half, per Ben press release)

WLC 61, Maranatha 45 (Warrior women created a lot of turnovers. Shooting percentage on both side nothing to write home about--you know that when WLC's radio announcer is kidding about lids on the rims :-X)

Concordia-Chicago 70, Edgewood 59 (Cougars outshot WI Eagle squad from field, per CUC press release. Cougars are definitely on a good roll right now).

Rockford 74, Marian 52. (Regents' Butler had a 26-pt game, Rockford outshot Marian from the floor, per Regent box score).

Lakeland 71, Dominican 59 (Lakeland shot 51% in 2nd half, and forced 21 Dominican turnovers, per Muskie press release).

     and. . . . . . . .

      Alverno wins a NAthCon game!!!

The Inferno beat MSOE, 73-51, by shooting a blistering 68% from the floor in the 2nd half per Alverno press release. That's their first in-conference win since the 05-06 season when they swept Maranatha and beat MSOE once in the old Lake Michigan Conference.

              Congratulations to Coach Duckworth!

2/07/08 Women's NAthCon Finals:

MSOE and Alverno have been eliminated from NAthCon post-season tournament contention.

2/09 Women's NAthCon Finals:

Concordia-WI 87, Rockford 38  :o ??? (Falcons shot a blistering 61% from the field in second half-Regents' Butler only played 15 minutes-not to knock Regents' reserve Love Morgan, but you know things are out of the ordinary for Rockford when Morgan ends up leading the team in scoring for a game-she had 14 points-all info off Rockford box score).

Dominican 91, Mt. Mary 63 (Stars' Salinas had 30 pts, Stars also outshot Mt. Mary and had a big edge rebounding, per Dominican box score).

Edgewood 75, WLC 71 (A 17-5 WI Eagle scoring run over the last 3 1/2 minutes was the difference here, per Edgewood press release). WLC still has 2 more in-conference wins than Concordia-Chicago, but. . .  :-\

Lakeland 65, Alverno 45 (Muskies' Blahnik came up big in 2nd half, Inferno had 27 turnovers in this contest, per Lakeland press release).

Aurora 75, Marian 70, OT (Marian missed the front-end of a one-and-one, Aurora got a bucket to force OT, but the Spartans went on a 6-0 run over the last 3 1/2 minutes to get the win, per Marian press release).

Concordia-Chicago 78, MSOE 41 (Marche Smith was one of four Cougar players to score in double-figures, per MSOE box score).

Benedictine 79, Maranatha 61 (IL Eagles led virtually the entire game, Crusaders had a cold-shooting first half, per Maranatha press release).

WLCALUM83

2/11-12/08 Women's NAthCon Finals:

2-11: Marian 68, Mt. Mary 43 (This one turned into a rout in the second half, per Marian press release).

Maranatha 71, Lincoln 45 (Colleen Goff & Co end the home portion of the Crusaders schedule with a win-game flow similar to that of Marian game above, per Maranatha press release.)

2-12:  Benedictine 84, Robert Morris-Springfield 68 (IL Eagle squad shot 58% from floor for entire game, per Ben press release.)

WLCALUM83

Marian can help its' cause big time by beating Lakeland and Benedictine (Sabers still have to play those squads once in reg season yet-all three are jockeying for the last NAthCon in-conference tournament spots).

Just Bill

Anyone have any explanation for Rockford's second half slide?  Did their short roster catch up to them?

Just Bill, the one immediate thing I can tell you after catching WLC's first game vs. Rockford is that the Warrior women limited Butler's freedom around the basket, holding her to well below her scoring average, and the rest of the team had a cold-shooting night-especially in the second half.

A check of Regent team stats indicates that ever since that first match-up with WLC, Rockford's committed several more turnovers per game than earlier in the season.

2/13 Women's NAthCon Finals:

Dominican 71, Alverno 69 OT (Trent put the Stars up for good in the OT and then they hit their FT's to seal it, per Star press release).

Concordia-WI 54, MSOE 36 (A late 2nd half 10-2 Falcon scoring run was the difference here, per MSOE press release).

Lakeland 57, Marian 54 OT  (Big Muskie scoring run from late in 1st half to few minutes into 2nd to wipe out a 15 pt deficit, then in OT a last-second Saber 3-pt attempt fell short, per Marian press release).

WLC 64, Rockford 49 (Warriors out-rebounded Regents and shot 56% from the floor in 2nd half, per Rockford box score).

Aurora 78, Concordia-Chicago 60 (Spartans had 53-28 edge on rebounds and outshot the Cougars from the field, per Aurora box score. That result gives WLC a bit of breathing room).

(Dominican and Maranatha are now out of NAthCon post-season tournament contention).
