Does anyone have information regarding the scrimmages from the past few weeks?  I heard CUW easily beat Lawrence University.

Lakeland stuns Carroll last night!  LC was down the entire game until there was less than 1 minute left in the 2nd half.  Blahnik hits a bucket and then gets a steal to put LC up and hold off Carroll.  LC hung around the entire game, Carroll was never able to put them away.

Blahnik was unstoppable, almost got a double-double.  Nice win for LC.

M. Headen (formerly of Concordia-Chicago) transferred to Lake Forest to continue playing for Coach Tillis. Also heard the Lady Forresters edged MSOE's women by 4 points.

And, yes, those WIAC schools continue to have WLC's number! :-[ :-[

Are you sitting down?

Good!

Upset of the weekend award goes to . . . (drum roll, please. . . )

(Long pause for effect. . . )

Alverno, which upset Concordia-Chicago (on the Cougars' home floor yet) 60-47.

(Wonder if that Lakeland mojo that Asst. Coach Porter brought over has started working yet!  :-X :-X :-\ :-\

WLCALUM83

WLC 64, Alverno 50  (Inferno hung tough in the first half, Warriors pulled away in the second.)

Alverno could pull off a couple more surprises yet--

WLCALUM83

Heard Edgewood's Megan Scheele (27 pts in a win over Marian) appears to be picking up where she left off.

Observations after 12/06 results:

Concordia-WI knocked off Alverno, but the Inferno kept it tight for a liittle more than 1 half again--

Concordia-Chicago had a third player (Burt) score in double figures (along with Smith and Williams) in a win over Maranatha

Lakeland beat Benedictine in OT, several Muskie players in double figures.

Edgewood beat Aurora in OT after trailing most of the game, Scheele got 25 pts, but Beckwith and a couple of others came up big late as well.

For Dominican (scoring wise) it was mostly the "Salinas and Trent" show in a win over Marian (nothing new there).

12/07 Result:

MSOE 63, Rockford 49  (Regent PBP account indicates the Red Raiders went on a 19-6 scoring run in the first half, and were never headed after that. MSOE's Bertram-26 points).

WLCALUM83

12-11 NAthCon Final:

MSOE 54, Benedictine 50. (IL Eagle press release indicated Benedictine got off to a slow start and just didn't quite get over the hump. This time it was MSOE's Cayo's  (21 pts.) turn to score big.

NAthCon 12/13-14/08 Women's Finals:

12-13:   Alverno 75, Silver Lake 32

Edgewood 82, Benedictine 62 (WI Eagles' Scheele-23 pts to lead 4 Edgewood players in double figures, Edgewood used a late first-early 2nd half scoring run to put this one out of reach--Edgewood press release).

Lakeland 57, Concordia-Chicago 49  (Muskies' late FT shooting was the difference here, per Lakeland's press release)

Marian 48, Maranatha 43 (Marian press release indicates Maranatha had 30 turnovers, both teams shot 31% from the field).

WLC 95, Rockford 64  :) ;) :D  (Four Warrior players scored in double figures--WLC shot 54% in the 2nd half to pull away from the Regents.)

12-14:  Alverno lost to Viterbo--Inferno's cold shooting the last few minutes of the game was the difference, per Inferno press release.

Concordia-Chicago is scheduled to play WLC on the road tonight. Lakeland's press release indicated the Cougars threw several different defenses at the Muskies and Lakeland was out of sync for a while before taking control the last 2 minutes of the game. The Cougars have given the Warriors all they could handle the last couple of match-ups-Warriors need to have their front-line players come up big like they did against Rockford. This one could go either way.

WLCALUM83

Concordia-WI 96, Aurora 39  :o :o ??? ???

(Falcon press release indicates Falcons came out of the gate hot and the Spartans had 38 turnovers in the contest).

Closest thing to a surprise--IMHO at this early stage it has to be MSOE being tied for 2nd in the South Division-

Look out for Edgewood--methinks the WI Eagles are going to really make some noise-barring the unforeseen.

WLCALUM83

12-22:  Edgewood 73, Lakeland 69.  (Even with the Muskies' tough interior defense, Scheele gets 22 points, but it was Edgewood's Beckwith that came up with some big points late, per WI Eagle press release.)

WLC lost to Loras in a tight one at home.

WLCALUM83

Concordia-WI 62, Pacific Lutheran 42

Pacific Lutheran press release indicates the West Coast squad's shooting got cold in the second half, enabling the Falcons to pull away.
