12/30/08 Women's NAthCon finals:

Concordia-WI 60, Dubuque 57

UW-Stevens Point 72, Edgewood 59  (Eagle press release indicates Ashley Averkamp had 25 points, Megan Scheele 13, the Pointers pulled away in the 2nd half).

NAthCon update:

Dominican appears to be slumping--losing big to Concordia-WI and also losing to MSOE. Per box scores, Stars were plagued with turnovers in the former game, and Salinas was held to 7 points in the latter. MSOE's Cayo and Bertram had big-scoring games for the Lady Raiders again.

1/10/09 Women's NAthCon Finals:

Lakeland 63, Alverno 54  (A 19-7 Muskie scoring run over the last 6 3/4 minutes was the difference in this one-per Inferno press release.)

Aurora 79, Maranatha Baptist 66  (Spartan box score indicates Lady Crusaders committed 30 turnovers-a 14-0 Aurora 1st half scoring run was the difference here. 4 Spartans scored in double figures.)

Benedictine 66, Marian 52 (Sabre press release indicates a 17-2  scoring run over the last 10 minutes sealed the win for Benedictine).

Concordia-Chicago 63, Rockford 58 (Cougars' Smith had 25 points and Williams 12, respectively.)

Concordia-WI 69, MSOE 32 (Lady Falcons got 36 points off 34 MSOE turnovers, per Raider box score).

Edgewood 72, WLC 66 (WI Eagles' Scheele-28 pts, Averkamp 14--WLC press release indicates a late 7-0 scoring run sealed the win for the Eagles. Had to figure revenge was on their minds after what happened in the NAthCon post-season tournament final last season.)

Are you sitting down?

Good.

Alverno 56, Benedictine 54 (from 1/13):  That win already gives the Inferno their highest in-conference victory total since 2005-06.

(I hear Wydown Blvd cheering and some fans of Bre Miller, G Allen and Sorgi coming out of the woodwork, applauding.) :D :D

After losing to Alverno, Benedictine beats Concordia-Chicago 91-82.  Go figure. :o

Rockford women get off the schneid in conference-beating Marian by 8.

Also, belated props to WLC's Brittany Lindert for reaching the 1,000-point milestone! After losing to Aurora on the road, the Warriors rout Dominican at home

Just Bill

CUC's Marche Smith scored 42 in the loss to Benedictine.  It's a CUC school record and the second highest single total in the NAC's three year history.

Thought the Cougars would have 1 or 2 more conference wins under their belt by now.

Benedictine 67, Maranatha Baptist 54  (Lady Crusaders fell in an early hole, and once cut the Eagle lead to 4, but never got over the hump, per Maranatha release).

Marian 75, Concordia-Chicago 66 (Haen, Bouchard and Moody had 64 of the Sabers' 75 pts-Cougars' Smith had 27 and Schwab 21. Saber 7-0 scoring run with under 5 minutes left to play was the difference here, per Marian press release.)

Edgewood's Scheele is featured in the Wisconsin State Journal as she attempts to break the school's all-time scoring record.

Congrats to Megan Scheele who got her 50th double-double yesterday.  6th player in D-III women's history to accomplish that.

I'll second that--now that she's got the WI Eagle pt-scoring record-she can (hopefully) lead her squad to bigger and better things.

Other 1/31 Women's NAthCon Finals:

Rockford 61, Benedictine 47  :o (Benedictine shot 21% in 1st half to Rockford's 41%, and the IL Eagles found themselves in a hole too deep to climb out of, per Regent box score.)

Dominican 70, Maranatha 66  (Dominican used a 12-4 scoring run between 10 and 5 minute marks of the second half to get breathing room--Trent and Salinas combined for 48 of the Stars' pts--per Dom PBP and box score accts.)

Aurora 78, Marian 54 (Spartans outscored Sabers in the paint 44-14, per Marian press release).

Lakeland 55, WLC 52 (Ouch!) Warriors-down only one- committed a turnover with 4 seconds left and the Muskies hit 2 FTs to seal it-WLC release.

CU-Nebraska 76, CUC 42

CUC 63, CU-Ann Arbor 56
