CUC 69, MSOE 59 (a brief hot scoring run for the Cougars during 2nd half was difference here)

Lakeland 68, Marian 44 (a 12-0 Muskie scoring run midway thru 2nd half broke this one open-per Lakeland PBP acct)

Benedictine 64, WLC 62

Marian is eliminated from playoff contention. A CUW win over Maranatha eliminates the Crusaders and puts Rockford in with the final berth in the North. In the South, CUC moves ahead of MSOE and into a virtual tie with Benedictine.

An item to put in the "Somethin's gotta give" department:

Wouldntcha know-Benedictine's last 2 games are against the 2 squads they are fighting the closest for playoff positioning.

Tie-breakers-CUC split with MSOE - CUC beat Benedictine their earlier game, Benedictine beat MSOE earlier.

Too early to think about a 3 way tie just yet.

2/15 update:

Dominican 36, Alverno 36  half

Final:  Alverno 72, Dominican 66 (A 14-8 Inferno scoring run over last 4 3/4 minutes sealed this win, per Dominican PBP acct)

Alverno and WLC are now tied for the NAthCon South lead.

2/15 Final:

Benedictine 69, Alverno 55 (IL Eagles clinch a playoff spot with that win)

(talk about putting it on the line--all South games have something riding on them)

MSOE: Needs a win over  Alverno at home, and  a CUC loss at Benedictine
CUC:   A win puts the Cougars in. (Since they beat the IL Eagles earlier, they'd be in 3rd place.) A loss and a Raider win, MSOE would get in-having split with Alverno, the Cougars were swept by the Inferno).

Alverno: A win and a WLC loss to Dominican, and the Inferno take the South title.
WLC: In the event of a 2-way tie with Alverno, the Warriors take the title, having split with Benedictine (IL Eagles swept Alverno)

A Benedictine win and losses by WLC and Alverno create a 3-way tie at the top.

2/16 final:

Maranatha 70, Rockford 60 (Lady Crusaders shot 56% in 2nd half --Peotter put in 27 pts, per Regent box score) Maranatha escaped the North basement with that win.

Should Lakeland and Edgewood end up in a 2-way tie, Lakeland would get the higher seed, having beaten Concordia-Chicago (WI Eagles lost to CUC in OT)

Only if they both win.  If they would both lose, then EC would hold the tiebreak by virtue of their victory over CUW.

So really, the seeding rides solely on the LC/CUW game.  LC wins they are #2.  LC loses they are #3.

MSOE 69, Alverno 57 (Cayo had a double-double-13 rebounds/25 pts--Diedrich was saddled with early foul trouble, Alverno had 21 turnovers to MSOE's 14, and the Raiders' clutch FT shooting down the stretch sealed a win for them--now their eyes are on Lisle, IL awaiting the CUC/Benedictine outcome-MSOE stats)

WLC 96, Dominican 61 (Warriors hit 13 3s and had a 41-30 rebounding edge--WLC stats)
