2/10/11 Projections:

Alverno/Edgewood:  Going with the homestanding Eagles in this one--with their height advantage, if they take care of the ball, they'll be OK.

CUW/WLC:  "The" 'fly-on-the-wall' game of the evening:  Have to put my heart above my head--Falcons have too many weapons on O.

Dominican/CUC:  Dominican-can go to a "Plan B" if they're not hitting 3s, they'll run the break on you. Unless CUC's Smith is allowed to have another huge scoring night, the Stars can take this.

Maranatha/Lakeland:  Lakeland at home.

MSOE/Benedictine:  IL Eagles have much more depth --should take this-their game is similar to Dominican's.

Marian's turn to have the night off and do scoreboard watching--if these projections all turn out right, the Sabers will be a bit happier.

WLCALUM83

WLCALUM83

Lakeland 35, Marantha 24  Half

WLC 39, CUW 37

Dominican up on CUC  2 min into 2nd half (couldn't get exact score)

WLCALUM83

Edgewood up 1 on Alverno  9:44 left 2nd half

WLCALUM83

Alverno 65, Edgewood 55 (WI Eagles didn't take care of the ball well enough this game--Inferno's Allen--28 pts, Alverno hit their late FTs to seal this one ) Edgewood stats)

WLCALUM83

#862
Other finals:

WLC 70, CUW 69 (per Edgewood announcers)
Benedictine 67, MSOE 59
Lakeland 60, Maranatha 53
Dominican 78, CUC 67

It's come down to this in the North:

Loser of Lakeland/Marian on Saturday is eliminated.
If Inferno wins their next game next week they clinch the last spot in the North.

In the South, MSOE gets CUC at home on Saturday, (oh, to be a fly on the wall in the locker rooms for that one--)

Just Bill (or anyone who knows NAthCon tie-breakers:)

Suppose WLC & CUW finish tied for the top North spot, who would get it? (CUW lost to both Marian and Edgewood, while the Warriors swept both of those squads).

Dominican 38, Aurora 26  Half

Final just in:  MSOE 36, CUC 35
(Both teams shot less than 30% from floor for game-MSOE stats)

Other finals:  Marian 57, Lakeland 53

(Marian, down by 9 late, scores the last 13 pts of the game to take it--despite committing 27 turnovers and going 10-26 overall from the FT line, Zutz and Haen hit crucial FTs toward the end to enable Marian to take this one at home. Haen had a big-scoring 2nd half--Marian stats)

Dominican 80, Aurora 57

WLC 62, Edgewood 47 1 sec left 2nd half

(WI Eagle Tobin's double double --13 rebounds, 10 pts, not enough, Warriors got to the line for 24 FTA's compared to Edgewood's 17-WLC stats)

With the results put in my last post --here's the NAthCon playoff situation

Lakeland has been eliminated

An Alverno win over Marian on Wednesday puts the Inferno in.

WLC can take the regular season title in the NAthCon North with a victory at Maranatha on Thursday.

MSOE holds the tie-breaker over CUC, now having beaten the Cougars twice this season.
