Here's a hoops-related coaching update on Alverno:

http://northernac.org/sports/wbkb/2011-12/releases/20110823wzmp90

The Alverno staff also features former Badger Men's player Latrell Fleming.

And... your point?  In my opinion, the staff features far more knowledgable coaches than Fleming, who only played a year or two at Wisc on the mens side.  What about the ex womens college players on staff?  Or Kluth?  All great additions to the program.  Fleming does lots of AAU, but that's a whole different animal compared the tasks of a college basketball coach.  Grades, recruiting, scouting, etc.

Yikes. What a ridiculous over-reaction to a very innocent comment. In the 11 words that person typed, I don't see any opinion, inference or judgment of anything. Perhaps they just thought it was an interesting fact that people might like to know.

There's not a lot of action on this board. Let's try to avoid jumping down people's throats for sharing information.

Um yeah I was just trying to share some info I found interesting, if you don't see that way that's fine but I meant no disrespect to any of the other assistant coaches, I'm sure they all work very hard. Again I just found it interesting and tried to have an at least semi informative post on here so I could just check on the "Show new replies to your posts" for updates on the conference.

Sorry for trying to start a discussion.  Didn't realize this board was so sensitive.

WLCALUM83's take on Women's 12/6 results:

Dominican over Rockford:  Stars pile up the points (thought that would be happening a bit sooner)

CUC over Benedictine:      IL Eagles lost several starters from last season-Cougars' May increasing her scoring output, Ricketts picking up where she left off

WLC over Lakeland;         Clutch FT shooting late seals this one on the road (methinks the Muskies will do better this year than last)

MSOE over Aurora:          Raiders now 4-0 in conference, (between Cayo on the inside and their 3-pt shooters they'll make their fair share of noise)

Maranatha over Marian:    Crusaders already have an in-NAthCon win (last year that didn't happen until late February, when they upset CUC at home-this poster thinks Maranatha could get a couple more in-conference wins-with DeLozier and Peotter providing leadership.

CUW over Alverno:          Falcons are on a drive to get back to the top of their division.

I think the game Thursday between CUW and Lakeland will tell us a lot about both teams.

My take on a couple of the 12/10/11 results:

Marian over MSOE:  Raiders' outside shots weren't dropping much, (Cayo still managed a double-double)
Edgewood over Benedictine:   WI Eagles had a 52-30 rebounding advantage on the boards
CUC over Lakeland:  4 of the 5 Cougar starters scored in double figures-per box score Ricketts got several big hoops late.

WLCALUM83

My 1/7/12 guesses:

CUW/Dominican:  CUW (will be looking to make a statement after 0-fer in D3 hoops Classic)
Lakeland/Rockford:   Going with the Regents in a tight one at home
Marian/Aurora:        Marian
Alverno/CUC:         CUC at home
Edgewood/MSOE:    Edgewood in another tight one
WLC/Beneictine:      WLC

#922
Was off on 3 games, as it turns out:

Alverno ended the first half going on a 17-0  scoring run (didn't think Inferno's Kontowski would have as good a game as she did)

MSOE beat Edgewood (first time in quite a while, per Raider announcer) --WI Eagles had an off day shooting from the floor

Lakeland's balance overall was the difference in their win.

Marian's Albert hit 10 threes in the Sabres' win today.

WLCALUM83

My 1/12/12 guesses:

WLC over Maranatha:
Edgewood over Lakeland:

Gonna start believing in Lakeland after they nearly put up 90 against Edgewood?

I'll tell you this-- it wouldn't surprise me if the Muskies began moving further up in the standings -- they get Maranatha at home, Marian on the road, and Aurora and Alverno after that, while WLC gets CUC, Edgewood and Dominican. I'm not expecting the Warriors to run the table in-conference.

WLCALUM83

My 1/14/12 guesses:

Benedictine/Marian:  Going with Marian at home (Albert's been hot from beyond the arc of late)
WLC/CUC:               WLC
MSOE/CUW:            CUW (if Cayo stays out of foul trouble and CUW has a flat game it could be interesting--I wasn't expecting the Raiders to beat Edgewood)

Aurora/MBBC:            Aurora
Rockford/Edgewood:   Edgewood   (WI Eagles have deeper bench)

Well I guess my comment about having confidence in Lakeland is null and void after they choke away a 7 point lead in the final four minutes to lose to MBBC 56-53. The Muskies have 9 good players but no outstanding players so it makes it tough in a tight ball game when you don't have a player you can turn to that can get you a tough basket when you need it. Maybe they'll turn it around Wednesday at Marian but this is a tough one to take.

Maranatha's trio of better than average starters (Morisson, DeLozier & Peotter) are in their 3rd year as a unit. The Crusaders already have 3 times the number of in-conference wins they had last season.

WLCALUM83

1/21/12 guesses:

CUW/Rockford:       CUW
MBBC/Benedictine:  Benedictine in a tight one (if the IL Eagles have an off day shooting). How well can the Crusaders take care of the ball?
Lakeland/Aurora:      Lakeland
WLC/Dominican:       Dominican (Stars can pile up the points from time to time)
Marian/CUC:            Marian  (more consistent of late)
Alverno/MSOE:         MSOE in a tight one (Kontowski vs. Cayo should be interesting if they're matched up against each other).
