Is that a job anyone would want? Can't imagine it pays enough either to gain a good list of candidates. I have heard some people who are interested in learning more  ;D

I heard they are expecting upwards of 100 applicants. Obviously, it's not a tremendous job, but the expectations are low and the previous head coach did a poor job of recruiting. When you're at a school of Marian's stature, you've got to target hundreds of kids in hopes that you will get 10-15 players. I look at how many more females attend Marian than males and I think that could lend itself to a turnaround. Marian needs to hire a young person that will go out and recruit non-stop. And in the NAC all it takes is 1 or 2 marquee players mixed in with 5-6 other decent kids and you're at the top of the league.

Alverno's another case in point. Before Coach Duckworth and his staff got there teams like CUC, Edgewood and Lakeland were beating that squad by 20 or more points. (no knock intended) In the last 2 seasons the Inferno has improved a lot. (Look at the impact that the Inferno's players have had this seasson).

CUW 51, Rockford 46 (Falcons used a 13-0 scoring run starting 4 min into second half to take the lead for good-per Rockford PBP acct)

Edgewood 73, Marian 50 (WI Eagles had a 58-35 rebounding advantage per Marian release)

I agree with nearly everything you said ... it's a big umbrella job. I would feel like it's still easier to get those kids to come to Milwaukee (in the case of Alverno) as opposed to Fond du Lac.

I guess I'm curious what types of coaches would be interested? D3 assistants? Varsity coaches? It'll be interesting. I have a friend that coaches at Parkside. I'll have to ask if he's interested or has heard of people who have talked about it.

hoop_junkie

I've heard a few names. Some men and women's d3 assistants. I would think anyone who is looking for a starter job might be interested. I think the Fox Cities is a goldmine area for talent but would the kids want to attend Marian is the real question? It's hard to say. I believe the previous head coach was there 20+ seasons and if he made little or no effort to recruit then maybe it remains to be seen as to whether or not you could get players to go there. There baseball team has a roster of over 50 so obviously there not having too much trouble getting male athletes to attend.
