Two other NAthCon finals:

With those results-Marian gets in as #4 in the North (having beaten CUW once)--
In the South Benedictine is #2 seed and Rockford #3

Just an observation on Marche Smith's career- After the Cougars' near miss vs. WLC in the '08 NAthCon Tournament, this poster was thinking that wouldn't be the only year Marche would see the NAthCon playoffs. Marche and M Headen were a great tandem in '08 --how much different could it have been had Headen remained at CUC --(just speculating)  That was before Headen transferred to Lake Forest and got hurt after playing only 3 or 4 games there)

Still, the NAthCon will always remember the positive PR Marche gave to the league.

Look It Up

Marche Smith actually has one more game to play - Saturday's NAC Challenge Game when CUC hosts Alverno. Smith now has 1,887 career points and with six more will become the highest scoring player in Concordia basketball history, passing men's career leader Wayne Hesse who played in the 1970s.

I stand corrected. That will be an interesting matchup.  Even though both of those teams aren't playoff bound, the Inferno's Allen & McComb generated their share of positive PR material (the latter of the two players will always be remembered for "the first NAthCon WBB Buzzer Beater Seen 'Round the D3 World")

Looks like 3 of the 4 challenge games involving NAC Tournament teams will not matter for seeding. What's the point of the challenge game again? I don't know either.

I also do not like this challenge game. One of the knocks on the NAC is that their strength of schedule is so low that they will only get one team in the NCAAs and then have virtually no chance of advancing.  Would it not make more sense to shorten up the conference season by 1-2 games, then try to schedule some teams for the CCIW or WIAC? It would really help SOS.  Just a thought.

I mean look at the CCIW.  The number four seeded time right now is 15-8.  That is a very good winning percentage and then they get their opponents opponents winning percentage.
