11/24/12 NAthCon In-Conference docket:

MSOE/Lakeland:   Muskies should take this one at home.
Rockford/Aurora:  Spartans in a tight one.
CUW/Alverno:       Falcons  (Inferno could pull this off if the home squad can run on CUW and has a hot shooting day).

Non-conference game comment:  It'll be interesting to see how long Edgewood can hang in with UW-Whitewater.

I agree with the conference picks, I believe the LC/MSOE game will be a tight one all the way through.

non-conference - I am interested in seeing if CUC can finally pull it together for a game.

WLCALUM83

Final:  Lakeland 83, MSOE 42  (Muskies' Thrune & Co. were hitting their 3s in the first half. Eisner also had a productive game inside and at the FT line. Lakeland's quickness was too much for MSOE today.)

WLCALUM83

Catching the last few minutes of the NCC/Benedictine barnburner  (road squad up 3 as I post with under 4 min. left).

WLCALUM83

Final:  North Central IL 96, Benedictine 91

(Per Eagle announcer, home squad was once up by 10, when I joined the broadcast, it was tighter--shortly after, NCC got 3 successive baskets off their press defense to take the lead for good with approx. 3 minutes left. IL Eagles missed several FT's down the stretch.)

Northern Athletics Conference Standings as of 11/25/12

North

1. Maranatha 1-0 (1-0)
2. Alverno 2-1 (1-0)
3. Lakeland 1-2 (1-0)
4. Edgewood 0-4 (0-0)
5. Concordia Wisconsin 1-2 (0-1)
6. Marian 1-2 (0-1)
7. MSOE 0-3 (0-1)

South

1. Aurora 2-2 (1-0)
2. Wisconsin Lutheran 2-1 (0-0)
3. Dominican 0-3 (0-0)
4. Benedictine 0-4 (0-0)
5. Concordia Chicago 0-4 (0-0)
6. Rockford 0-4 (0-1)

Initial thoughts:

Is Alverno better than advertised or did they catch Concordia Wisconsin at the right time?

WLC is still trying to get in the groove offensively. More or less the matchup against Hamline showed some of the things that they need to work on. IMO they are still adjusting to not have Johnson and Kuehl on the roster. Shavon Dillion is about 14 points away from 1,000 career points.

Aurora as it looks like they are better than where they were at last year. Last year for them was a trainwreck. This week's matchup with WLC could establish who is the early leader in the South.

The Nath-Con is really struggling out of conference so far this year (6-28 out of conference record). Out of thirteen teams six of them are winless.

CUW shot 29% from the floor vs. Alverno, while the Inferno shot 55%. Inferno have a transfer player, (Gorman) who went off for 21 pts in the contest. per box score.

Just two games tonight....

Trinity International at Dominican: Dominican breaks into the win column against a sliding Trojans team that has lost five straight.

UW-Oshkosh at Lakeland: Oshkosh shouldn't have much trouble with Lakeland.

The Titans didn't have much trouble on the back of a 20 point lead and 30-14 rebounding edge in the first half. Muskies won the 2nd half by 10 but the game was never really in any dout.

Maranatha shot 73% from the floor in the 2nd half in a victory on the road at Alverno. Lady Crusaders also drained 8 3-pointers in the game.

11/28 NAthCon docket:

Benedictine/CUC:   Going with IL Eagles on the road, they appear to have a bit more depth.

Lakeland/CUW:      Lakeland  (better inside-outside scoring balance of late).

Edgewood/Marian:    Sabers in a tight one, (especially if they hit enough 3s and Huray is allowed repeated baseline penetration-however Edgewood can still take this if their talls score big and crash the boards.)

Rockford/Dominican:    Stars at home in a tight one. Depends who takes care of the ball better.

Aurora/WLC:               Warriors at home. Their D will be there. As long as they aren't overly reliant on the 3, they'll be OK.

I agree with your picks WLCAlum....The only game that could go either way is the Edgewood at Marian game. WLC IMO is still looking for that shooting touch that has been somewhat missing so far this season. I think Dillion could hit the 1,000 point barrier as she only needs 14 more points to break it.

Game of the night: Lakeland at CUW

Presason #1 v #2 in the North, both teams coming off opposite games (LC blowing out MSOE and CUW getting manhandled at Alverno) we should find out a lot about both teams after tonights game.

Update:  Benedictine 40, CUC 30  Half.
