Huge week for Lakeland going 3-0 after a rough start to the season.

This could be due to them riding the back of Eisner all week, a double-double in all three games inluding a 22 point 21 rebound effort agianst Maranatha on Thursday night....Player of the Week?

Possibly. It could also be because they got their head coach back  ;D

Nath-Con Standings as of 12/9/12

North

1. Maranatha 5-1 (3-1)
2. Concordia Wisconsin 5-3 (4-2)
3. Lakeland 4-5 (4-2)
4. Alverno 4-3 (3-2)
5. Edgewood 3-6 (3-2)
6. Marian 3-4 (2-3)
7. MSOE 0-7 (0-5)

South

1. Wisconsin Lutheran 7-1 (3-0)
2. Benedictine 4-5 (3-1)
3. Concordia Chicago 2-5 (2-1)
4. Aurora 3-5 (2-3)
5. Rockford 1-7 (1-4)
6. Dominican 0-8 (0-4)

IMO the North Division race is something to be watching the entire season. Maranatha has shown it can hold their own against the top teams in the division in Concordia WI and Lakeland. It will be interesting to see how Alverno fares the rest of the season. I wasn't really expecting much out of the Inferno, but so far they have proved me wrong in that aspect.

The South is WLC and everyone else fighting for second. Hate to say that, but WLC even without Krissy Day is still heads and shoulders above everyone else in the division. Aurora is miles better than last year but the bigger question is will they be able to sustain their early success for the long haul? Dominican after reaching the NAC title game last year is struggling to get a win. They have some talent on the team but it hasn't translated into success on the court.

I think there's a lot more teams that are worse this year than they were last year, as opposed to better. I can only name two teams, Maranatha and Alverno, that I think are better than they were last year. Everyone else is either the same or worse, including WLC. WLC should roll through the regular season.

Gorman's been very consistent (double-figures scoring) for the Inferno of late.

IMHO, Benedictine could be the same or a touch better than last season if Joseph and Hunzinger continue their strong play.

Can't disagree with you there. The league was pretty darn strong last season, especially at the top.

12/11 Games

Edgewood at Elmhurst: Eagles still have some rebuilding to do yet. Bluejays win this one handily.

Alverno at Indiana-Northwest: Alverno travels down to Gary and picks up a non-conference win.

I'd add Aurora to my list. They are better than last year, mostly because they couldn't be worse than 2-23. I think those three are it.

This Weekend's Picks

12/14

Wheaton at Rockford: This will get ugly quickly for the Regents...

12/15

Concordia Chicago at Maranatha: Crusaders continue their nice run.

Concordia Wisconsin at Lakeland: Muskies get payback in a low scoring game.

Aurora at Carthage: Carthage has no problem with the Spartans here.

UW-Stout at Marian: Could be an interesting game.

Alverno at Finlandia: Inferno bounce back after getting rolled in Gary a few days ago.

Beneditctine at Wheaton: Benedictine doesn't have the horses to hang with Wheaton.

Dominican at North Central: Could be as ugly as North Central's blowout win against MSOE.

12/16

Alverno at Northland: UMAC looks very down this year.

Captain Joe, I agree with both of your 12/15 in-conference picks.

WLCALUM83

#1090
12/15 in-NAthCon finals:

CUW 60
Lakeland 36

(Lakeland had a cold-shooting day from the floor and CUW had a 42-31 rebounding advantage).

Maranatha 61
CUC 54

Both North leaders get a bit more breathing room.
