"After a good loss like this I like to cry to myself" ~Alverno color commentator

2/5:   MSOE/Alverno:    Going with the Inferno at home
         CUC/Dominican:  Cougars
Aurora/Rockford:   Regents in a tight one.
Marian/CUW:        Falcons get another win at home
Benedictine/WLC:   Head says Warriors, heart says BU  -- going with BU in a tight one
Edgewood/MBBC:   The  game of the night-- Edgewood's well rested- which MBBC squad will show up-the one that lost to Lakeland and CUW at home, or the one that ratched up the D- blocking several of BU's 3 pt attempts late in the game- to win yesterday?-- going with Edgewood.

Should MBBC win-Lakeland would have a great chance to help themselves out and play spoiler at the same time.

2/5

MSOE at Alverno: Inferno get back on track with a win here.

Concordia Chicago at Dominican: CUC handles the Stars on the road.

Aurora at Rockford: Have to take the Regents as well. Aurora can play a solid game at one point then a terrible one in the next one.

Marian at Concordia Wisconsin: CUW takes it at home.

Edgewood at Maranatha: Something has to give here....No one wants to lose this one and face falling to fourth place in the North with Lakeland playing better basketball of late right on their heels. Edgewood takes it on the road.

Benedictine at Wisconsin Lutheran: Could be a potential trap game if Benedictine catches the Warriors looking towards Saturday's Winterfest showdown against Concordia Wisconsin, but I think WLC will still prevail here.

(will shift to Edgewood/MBBC)

Crusaders up 41-38  less than 8 min left 2nd half

WLC 69, Benedictine 40  8 secs left 2nd half

Finals:

Alverno 62, MSOE 42
CUW 67, Marian 54
CUC 81, Dominican 70

Finals just in:

MBBC 65, Edgewood 49   (The Crusaders' 2nd half play here was the same type of intensity they showed vs. Benedictine last Saturday-up 7 when I tuned in, they forced several Eagle turnovers and MBBC again hit their FTs late to seal this one).

Rockford 60, Aurora 55  OT.

Top 5 in the North:

CUW                    14-2
AC                       10-5
MBBC                   10-5
EC                         9-6
LC                         8-8

Edgewood can eliminate Lakeland by beating the Muskes at home Thursday night. Should Edgewood win that game, even if the 2 squads finish tied, the Eagles get the spot, having won the first matchup between the two.

Captain_Joe08

2/7

Alverno at Marian: Alverno takes it at home.

Lakeland at Edgewood: Muskies are finally eliminated from getting a spot in the conference tournament.

Maranatha at MSOE: Crusaders take this one handily.

2/9

MSOE at Concordia Chicago: Cougars make short work of the Raiders at home.

Marian at Benedictine: BU gets back to .500.

Maranatha at Aurora: Crusaders make it harder for the Spartans to earn a conference tournament spot.

Edgewood at Rockford: Same thing applies for the Eagles against Rockford.

Alverno at Dominican: Alverno wins handily.

Concordia Wisconsin at Wisconsin Lutheran: Home Game + Winterfest + Rivalry Game + Top Seed on the line = Great Game. Warriors use their great defense to contain the Falcons and possibly impress the voters enough to gain a few more votes when the next top 25 comes out.

If my math is correct: Alverno and Maranatha can also clinch a spot in the conference tournament with wins and a Lakeland loss Thursday as well. If that happens then the last spot in the South is the last one up for grabs.

2/7:

Alverno/Marian:   I, too, say Alverno
Lakeland/Edgewood:   Eagles
Maranatha/MSOE:    As long as the Crusaders keep that good D up, they'll be OK

2/9:

MSOE/CUC:     Cougars
Maran/BU:       IL Eagles
Aurora/MBBC:    Aurora in a mild upset (figuring the Spartans will need this one more)
EC/Rockford:      Edgewood
Alverno/Dominican:  Alverno
CUW/WLC:         Warriors

Suppose Alverno, Edgewood and Maranatha end up in a 3-way tie for 2nd, how would the order go?

If they all ended up 12-6, you start with a head-to-head-to-head comparison.

MBBC - 3-1 (swept AC, split with EC)
AC - 2-2 (swept EC, got swept by MBBC)
EC - 1-3 (split with MBBC, got swept by AC)

So, MBBC #2, AC #3, EC #4

(Late update just in:  Welcome to the playoffs, Alverno! - NAthCon standings indicate Inferno clinched a spot--  if memory serves correctly, it'll be K Speerschneider's second shot at the tournament title- the other opportunity came her freshman year when the Inferno had Gabby Allen, Shataya McComb, et. al.)
