As I try to thaw out from an unexpected trip to Lambeau for the Packers game, here are my predictions for this week's games.

12/10

MSOE at Edgewood: Though I think MSOE is the slight favorite in this one I think with the game at the Edgedome gives the Eagles the advantage in this one.

Rockford at Aurora: The Regents are playing decent ball so far. Aurora is killing themselves with stupid mistakes like getting into foul trouble early in games. Regents take a road win in this one.

Dominican at Alverno: Alverno is steadily becoming one of the contenders in the conference this year. The bigger question is can they take a win off of CUW like they did against WLC already this year. Dominican wishes that they could be competitive on a consistent basis. Alverno rolls.

12/12

Concordia Wisconsin at Lakeland: CUW has a nice 7-0 record. They have won the close games out of conference that plagued them the last few years. The bigger question for them is that can they finally solve the riddle that is WLC and take control of the conference race? Lakeland has the horses to compete with the top teams on a daily basis but it depends on their long range shooting. I take CUW in a nice road win.

My guesses:

12/10--  Edgewood
             Aurora
Alverno            (Speerschneider's outside shot has been stuck on automatic of late)

12/12:  CUW:     (Didn't expect them to rout Benedictine-on the IL Eagles home floor yet--)

UPSET ALERT:  MSOE 61, Edgewood 56  Final

Raiders were whistled for only 4 fouls in 2nd half, but got in the double bonus with plenty of time to spare in 2nd half--

Edgewood  6-7 on FTs
MSOE      19-24 on FTs

12/14 NACC Docket:

Rockford/WLC:    Warriors take this one at home
Dominican/MSOE:   Raiders get another win in a tight one, building off their mild upset of Edgewood
CUC/Marian:         Toss-up;   CUC's got more of a front line, but their big scorers need to stay out of foul trouble. Marian  likes to hoist those 3s-- I'll go with the Cougars in a tight one-(They're due to get off the schneid anyway).

Aurora/Edgewood:   WI Eagles rebound with a home win.
Benedictine/Lakeland:   Another toss-up:  Taking the Muskes at home, but the IL Eagles can take this if they can run and Lakeland has a cold-shooting day.

I'll take.....

WLC: Warriors keep on rolling.
MSOE: Stars may have a shot here but the Raiders are much improved.
CUC: Marian hasn't convinced me that they are better than last year.
Edgewood: Eagles bounce back against a struggling Spartan squad.
Lakeland: I agree with the toss up.

Was going to get this up earlier but I was helping a close friend move out of her apartment at WLC yesterday.

A few somewhat un-expectied finals and my comments on them:

Marian 58, CUC 56    (Sabers outshot CUC from the floor, attempted only 5 3s the entire game, Jarvey goes off for 16 points, Marian--40 pts in the paint)

Aurora 67, Edgewood 65  (Spartans' Jenkins hit a jumper with 5 seconds left for the win--they came back from a 15 pt 2nd half deficit for the win)

Benedictine 64, Lakeland 50 (IL Eagles:  40-25 rebounding advantage, 24-12 points in paint edge)

WLCALUM83

12/16-17/13 NACC guesses:

12/16:  Alverno/CUW:  Toss-up-- When CUW was jockeying for in-conference tourney posistioning last year, the Inferno knocked them off in Mequon-- I'm going with the Falcons at home.

12/17:  Benedictine/CUC:  IL Eagles-better bench depth
            Dominican/Aurora:   Spartans

Final:  Benedictine 76, CUC 72

(CUC, down 1, committed a costly over-and-back turnover with 25 seconds left, and after that, the IL Eagles hit their FTs to seal this one)

12/21/13 In-Conference docket:

Edgewood/Marian:  Going with the WI Eagles on the road  (Sabers have been cutting back on their beyond the arc attempts the last couplle of games)

Lakeland/MSOE:  If no Raiders are lost to injury in the non-con vs. MBU, and they can establish enough of a presence inside and get to the line vs. the Muskies, I'll go with MSOE in a tight one. Lakeland can take this if that squad's outside shots fall.

CUC/Rockford:   Going with the Regents at home in another toss-up.  Cougars have to be wondering what the "h e double toothpicks" they have to do to get in the win column. They can take this if they get off to a fast start offensively.

CUW/WLC:  Last time the Falcons were on the Warriors' home floor, they were routed in the '13 Tournament Final. They'll put up a better showing, but WLC prevails in another close one.

12/19

North Central (IL) at Dominican: Stars can't keep up with the system.

MSOE at Maranatha: Close game but I think the Raiders will take this one on the road.

12/20

Benedictine vs Gettysburg (PA): Gettysburg plays good basketball.

Alverno vs Randolph: Just a guess.

12/21

Guilford vs Benedictine: BU goes winless down in Florida

Alverno vs Dubuque: Toss up.

Edgewood at Marian: Edgewood should win but they have disappointed recently.

Lakeland at MSOE: Muskies seem to be over reliant on the long ball but they get a close win on the road.

Concordia Chicago at Rockford: Cougars finally get their first win of the year.

Concordia Wisconsin at Wisconsin Lutheran: The last time these two met, WLC put the game away early as they went to the NCAA tournament. CUW comes in at 9-0 and have beat Alverno (which WLC lost to). However they have not beat the Warriors since 2011. I think WLC ends CUW's unblemished run here.
