Other 2/5/22 NACC Finals:

St. Norbert keeps the pressure on, winning big over IL Tech
Benedictine 68, CUW 53
MSOE 76, CUC 59 (MSOE shot 61% from the field)
Edgewood 82, Marian 65 (Eagles' Pikulyk- 24 pts)
Rockford 60, Lakeland 54 (another Regent come-from behind win)

Unless I'm missing something, WLC can clinch the top spot for the NACC Tournament with a win over Alverno at home tonight. In that event, the Warriors would finish conference play with no worse than 2 in-NACC losses, and St. Norbert and Benedictine have 3 in-NACC losses each going into tonight's action.

Rockford and Lakeland have chances to hold seeding to get NACC Opening Round home games with wins tonight. The Regents get CUC and Lakeland plays Marian.

Edgewood/Aurora is another interesting matchup. The Spartans may be a bit hungrier after leading for more than half the game last Saturday at WLC, only to lose after a late Warrior scoring run. WI Eagles have a better chance if Spartans aren't connecting on 3s and aren't allowed to get a big lead early.

2/8/22 NACC Finals:

#15 WLC won big over Alverno
CUW 70, Dominican 45 (Stars led early, but after a strong 2nd Qrtr, the Falcons were never headed)
St. Norbert 55, MSOE 41 (Green Knights outshot MSOE 43 to 30% from the floor for the game)
Benedictine won big over IL Tech
Edgewood 91, Aurora 65 (WI Eagles outshot Spartans 52% to 35% for the game and got 25 pts off Aurora turnovers)
Lakeland 65, Marian 50
Rockford 61, CUC 59 (Regents' Davis hit 2 FTs with 9 seconds left, and CUC's Gardner missed a potential game-winning 3 pt shot.)

NACC Opening Round Home Game Batttle:

Lakeland is in the 8th spot at the moment. MSOE is 9th and needs to win at Dominican and at Marian, and also needs at least one Muskie loss for a chance at a home in-NACC Tournament game. (Lakeland gets Aurora and Benedictine on the road, and Concordia-Chicago at home yet). The Raiders beat Lakeland head to head.

Rockford has Alverno, Aurora and IL Tech to play yet. The Regents, on paper, have a great chance to win 2 of those 3 games. Aurora also has Lakeland and Marian yet. I'd be surprised if Rockford overtakes Aurora for a higher seed.
"When you come to the fork in the road, take it."

WLCALUM83

NACC Non-Conference Final:

WLC 55, Carthage 47 (Warriors, trailing for most of the game, outshot Carthage 75% to 25% in the 4th Quarter to get the win on the road. Talk about lucking out.)

Interesting game. Was this game always on the schedule for now or rescheduled or an added game after both teams lost one previously?

This game had to be rescheduled. Around the time it was to originally be played, a high-profile (Kyle Rittenhouse) trial was going on (verdict deliberations if memory serves correct) and the game was rescheduled out of safety concerns

2/11/22 In-NACC Final:

Aurora 112, Lakeland 67 (Spartans shot 60% from the floor for the game, hitting ten 3s-leading by 14 at half, they outscored the Muskes 34-12 to break this one open. This was somewhat expected, after Aurora took frustrating losses in its' last 2 NACC games. MSOE gets a bit of help with conference playoff positioning.)

2/12/22 NACC Finals:

#15 WLC 62, IL Tech 32
St. Norbert 54, Concordia-Chicago 38
Edgewood 63, Concordia-WI 54 (WI Eagles hit their FT's late to seal this one)
Rockfor80, Alverno 56
Dominican 50, MSOE 45 (Stars hit 8 3-pointers in the game)
Aurora 87, Marian 61
Lakeland 69, Benedictine 65 (Muskies' Felsinger hit 2 FT's with 3 seconds left to give Lakeland the mild upset win.)

With those results, St. Norbert will be hungry to get a win against WLC on Tuesday, with the #2 seed and second bye on the line.(A Green Knight loss coupled with a Benedictine win  over Edgewood would lead to a tiebreaker sort out between St. Norbert and Benedictine --they split head-to-head) Edgewood can overtake Benedictine for the third seed if they beat the IL Eagles (Edgewood would also have the head-to-head tiebreaker); CUW needs to beat Alverno and have Aurora lose to Rockford to hold on to #5 position. Lakeland can clinch the 8 seed (and an opening round game at home) with a win over CUC, regardless of how MSOE does against Marian. Unless I'm missing something, Rockford will hold on to the 7th seed, even with a loss and a Lakeland win (Regents beat Muskies head-to-head).

MSOE, CUC, Marian, Dominican, IL Tech and Alverno are going on the road for their opening round NACC playoff games.

Rockford's top player (Davis) was not in the starting line-up tonight vs. Aurora.

2/15/22 NACC Finals:

St. Norbert 59, #15 WLC 56 (Warriors, down 19 in 2nd Qrtr, made a strong run, but fell short--Green Knights got 23 pts off 17 WLC turnovers)

Benedictine 76, Edgewood 50 (IL Eagles outshot Edgewood 48% to 33% for the game)
CUW 69, Alverno 45 (Falcons hit 8 3s in the game and had a 41-28 rebound edge
Dominican 53, IL Tech 39 (Stars 28 pts off turnovers)
CUC 54, Lakeland 44 (Cougars outshot Lakeland 35% to 22% for the game.
Marian 48, MSOE 37 (Sabers' Paris Harris --16 pts)
Aurora 82, Rockford 60 (Davis did not play--Spartans broke this one open in 2nd half)

With those results, #1 WLC and #2 St, Norbert both get opening round byes.

2/19/22 Match Ups:

#3 Benedictine vs. #14 Alverno
#4 Edgewood vs. #13 IL Tech
#5 Aurora vs. #12 Dominican
#6 CUW vs. #11 Marian
#7 Rockford vs. #10 MSOE
#8 Lakeland vs. #  9 CUC (2nd consecutive match-up between these squads)

Immediate opening round takes:  If Rockford's Davis can't play vs. MSOE, don't be surprised if the Raiders pull off a mild upset. Lakeland and CUC split previous matchups. On paper, all other higher seeds figure to advance unless a higher seed has a totally flat game.

Opening round NACC Playoff update:

Edgewood won big on IL Tech (Scarlet Hawks' Bucci didn't play. Edgewood got 44 pts in the paint)

In 2:00 start game developments:  Rockford's Anaya Davis is playing vs. MSOE today (anyone with 19 double-double games going in--that's very valuable to have available.)
"When you come to the fork in the road, take it."

WLCALUM83

2/19/22 Mid-Afternoon NACC Opening Round Finals:

Aurora 102, Dominican 56 (Spartans outshot Stars 48% to 33% for the game. Aurora also hit 12 3-pointers)
Lakeland 71. CUC 54 (Muskies got off to a fast start right away, and the Cougars generally didn't recover)
CUW 51, Marian 39 (A Falcon 21-12 outscoring in 3rd Qrtr gave that squad the needed distance to hold on)
Rockford 52, MSOE 45 (Davis her 20th double-double -11 pts, 12 rebounds--Stevens also 11 pts)

Benedictine/Alverno later:

2/23 Pairings:

#8 Lakeland/#1 WLC (Warriors won earlier matchup on the road)
#5 Aurora vs. #4 Edgewood
#3 Benedictine vs. #6 CUW (barring an unexpected Alverno upset)
#2 St. Norbert vs. #7 Rockford

2/23/22 1st NACC Final:

St. Norbert 60, Rockford 46 (Rockford had it down to a 12 pt deficit with less than 4 minutes remaining, but the Regents missed more of their shots from that point on.) (Davis yet another double-double. I'd be shocked if she doesn't make NACC All-Conference) Green Knights hit 8 3s in the game and move on to take on CUW/Benedictine winner.
