More power  to the Crusaders. C Goff and A Lange could use more scoring support. Last season I caught their LMC play-in game win over Alverno and MBBC only had 8 or 9 players available. Had it not been for Amber Lange's clutch free-throw shooting toward the end, things may have turned out differently. 8)

Just to inform, the Rockford coach has resigned.  They now have a grad assistant running the team who is in his first year, with no other assistant named yet.  The athletic teams other than football are in sad shape, a far cry from what they have been.  The women's soccer program was outscored 174-8 on the 14 game season, that's correct, 174 soccer goals given up.  The men's program was dropped after begining the year with 8 players.  They need to get their house back in order and soon, as we all know how recruiting goes in D3 if your program is weak...

Sorry to hear that. Not to go negative on Alverno, but you know it's rough when even the Inferno scores 14 goals against you. I'm more shocked about the basketball team. Didn't the Regent women make Nationals just last season? (and I thought they'd have virtually everyone back this season--), :-X ???

crazy4hoops

what are the predictions for the upcoming season???

how are the teams looking so far?

Two things, very unclassy of former Rockford Coach to fire his assistants at Wartburg just a week before practice was to begin. He's been there since April - he should have had that figured out. I thoroughly understand the coaching carousel, but then Nestor resigns at Rockford less about what-4-5 days before practice starts? To go back to being an assistant? If he wasn't ready for a head job he shouldn't have applied.
That being said, Rockford could have a rough and tumble year with an inexperienced coach and recruiting could potentially go down hill this season from them. Which brings me to my next question- are the rumors true and if so, how long until Rockford goes under?

First of all, the rumours are true. These have been out there for the last couple years. They have some financial difficulty. If you have watched the situation closely you will see that many staff members have been leaving. Like rats off a sinking ship. As far as the new coach resigning, maybe he saw that writing on the wall...Strong programs start from the top, finances, etc. and maybe he didn't see the support you need. Finally, Amsberry firing his assistant is typical. The guy has a Napolean complex and that is his way of showing who is boss..

Wow! Talk about a quick turnaround!  One year nationals--the next--that! Not very pleasant!What a kick in the teeth!  :-[ ??? ::) :-[ :-[ :-[ ???

I have watched the turnover in coaches at Rockford and have heard of students not getting their refundable housing deposits back when they chose not to live on campus as the school needs the cash. Also know that one of the reasons the former men's bball coach left was because the school wouldn't pay their bills. It's an unfortunate situation for those students involved. My personal opinion was that Nestor was a very questionnable hire in the first place. As for Amsberry- I don't care what complex he has- it's an unclassy move- especially when you strong those assistants on for months and then right before practice starts - you smack them up side the head.
As for Rockford's past success- they put a talented group together, but after looking through past season's schedules, anyone could have a twenty win season playing against the majority of the teams they played against.

Kami Ten Pas is back for WLC this year. ;)

Illinihoops4

That's a plus for WLC  :)
After looking at the coach's poll it looks like all are in agreement that CUW is the team to beat. With Edgewood's #'s down I think they'll fall further down the line. I think AU is the team to keep an eye on to shake things up at the top. They scrimmaged pre-season #5 Wheaton this week and hung with them.

Sources tell me that Maranatha may be ready to make another run like they did a couple of years ago. My prediction: 6th place.

Just checked Maranatha's 06-07 WBB roster and found out A-- there are 17  players on it and B-- Kim Bond (yes, that Kim Bond, the 3 point-threat) is also listed on it. Libero, isn't it nice to have sources in agreeable places? ;) ;) :D :D

Bond back in a basketball uniform??? :o
The rest of the conference better look out. She has the ability to make them a very dangerous team!

WLCALUM83

I second that. Season before last, MBBC knocked WLC out of the LMC playoffs, 76-72, and beat the Warriors earlier that season, 88-85 in OT. She was a big factor in both of those games.

I actually did not know that 007 was back in uniform. . .I had just heard about severall outstanding recruits and a couple of decent returning upperclassmen. If Bond is back and is anywhere near where she was a couple of years ago. . .the 'Saders might make a lot of noise. .  I bet some coaches would have changed their preseason rankings.

Illinihoops4

2 years ago 'Natha had a dangerous combo in Bond and Michaelson. Bond's a fantastics shooter, but Michaelson did the dirty work. If they've got someone that can step in and fill the void that was her- they'll make a lot of noise.
Friday is almost here and I'm looking forward to the majority of teams tipping off. Finally! :D ;D
