Final:  Concordia-WI 70, Alverno 36.  (Inferno stayed in it 'till midway thru 1st half, then a boat-load of turnovers and a cold-shooting spell did them in).

Less than 30 seconds left:  Lakeland 63, Concordia-WI 49. (Another big day for Boehm inside, CU-Chicago outshot all around. Cougars' Feher in early foul trouble. Wonder how much Glidewell being out hurts the Cougars at this point.)

Other 1/31/07 Finals:

Aurora 64, WLC 56. (Per what little this poster heard, the Spartans came back from an 11-point deficit in 2nd half to get the win. Ouch. >:(

Benedictine 50, Rockford College 40. (IL Eagles outrebounded Regents 44-30, and led throughout the contest, as Rockford box score indicates.

And in the mild upset of the evening category:

Marian 58, Edgewood 55.  :o ??? :o ??? :o ??? (Marian outrebounded Edgewood for the game. The Sabers' Rose scored the last 3 points, and a Nickie Updike turnover on the WI Eagles' last possession was costly, per Marian box score.

2/03/07 Projections:

Benedictine over Alverno:

Edgewood over Dominican (even more so after tonight's Eagle loss).

Concordia-WI over Lakeland (Falcons have yet to lose an in-conference game at home this season. Lakeland should give them a good run for their money, though).

Concordia-Chicago over Maranatha (If the Crusaders are hitting on all cylinders --particularly their 3's, this could be a tight game.)

Aurora over Marian:

WLC over Rockford:  (Warriors have lost 2 in a row--need to have a win to keep pace with the other leaders. A loss wouldn't put them out of contention, but it would make the road a bit harder.)

Six teams are within 2 games of second place at this point. Hang on to your hats, folks. There's still 2 1/2 weeks of regular-season conference play left!  :-X :-\ :-X :-\ ;) :) ;)

This is sometimes typical of the women's side of the conference.

WLCALUM83

Alverno and Dominican have already been eliminated from the NAthCon conference tournament. :-X

I just went through the conference statistics and I don't see a reason why Scheele shouldn't win it. She's fun to watch play, has passion, loves the game, and just flat out works hard. Great kid.

Shifted back to Concordia-WI/Lakeland for the last 1:30 minutes of that one

the Final was Concordia-WI 67, Lakeland 48. (Ruppe came up big for the Falcons again, Lakeland's outside shooting wasn't that good).

Other 2/03/07 Finals:

Edgewood 55, Domincan 40.  (Per what little this poster heard, both teams were shooting poorly for a good share of the game-the Eagles reportedly pulled away in the last 2 minutes.) (Edgewood-27 points off turnovers to Dominican's 9. The Stars' Crystal Gant had one of her better games--Edgewood site.)

WLC lost to Rockford--don't have the exact final (around 10 points). The Regents were able to get several offensive rebounds, and the Warriors' shots weren't dropping. This is a game the Warriors should have won.  ??? ::) ::) ::)  (A WLC 3-point threat and defensive hound off the bench, Lauren Lanza, didn't play--ankle.)

Benedictine 73, Alverno 46. (The IL Eagles move into a 3-way tie for 2nd with WLC and Aurora.)

Women's final:  Concordia-Chicago 98, Maranatha 69.

Another final:  Aurora 73, Marian 55. (Aurora-24 points off turnovers to Marian's 11. --Marian box score.)

WLCALUM83

2/6/07 Projections:

Edgewood over Alverno:  (WI Eagles take advantage of relatively easy part of schedule).

Concordia-Chicago over WLC:  :o ??? (I know it's a home game for WLC, but the Warrior offense is in a slump, one of the main factors in their win over the Cougars earlier was WLC was hitting on its' threes in the earlier matchup. This one's too close to call. Glidewell's out for the Cougars but I heard one of the Warriors' key players may be hurting, too.) (Could it be that after the first time around the league--???)

Concordia-WI over Benedictine:  This figures to be a close game.

Aurora over Maranatha:

Marian over Dominican:

Lakeland over Rockford: (The Muskies are at home and they need this one real bad).

Megan Scheele has had a phenominal year, but you can't forget about Kristen Ruppe who has flown under the radar all season long.

cuw10

I'm taking Rockford over Lakeland, they will give a lot of people a run for their money at the end of this season, and WLC will beat Concordia-Chicago, no way a team like WLC loses 4 in a row, especially at a crucial point in the season.

Illinihoops4

Ruppe is a nice player, but statistically(conference) her stats don't quite match up with Scheele. While they are playing in different systems, I believe Scheele has had more of am impact on her team and the conference. Arguments can be made for a handful of players this season. It'll be interesting to see how it all pans out.

Another factor to take into consideration, Ruppe's on a squad that has a bit more depth than that of Scheele. The latter's darn near had to play 35 minutes a game most nights.

Just my .02.

Illinihoops4

WLC I completely agree with you. That's a major factor. The fact that Scheele is playing 35 min. give or take 2 a night AND she's still turning in those #'s at this point of the season says a lot. The beating that she's taken- not only from opponents, but the mental beating that she puts herself through when she's not happy with her play. She's matured a lot since last year. I think she's deserving.
