According to the Kerrville Daily Times, Schreiner has named Kendra Foreman, associate head coach at Howard Payne University (and former acting HC at UMHB), its next head Women's Basketball Coach.

ASC Tournament might be down to 5 teams, but there's at least 3 truly capable of winning it in Marshall later this week. LeTourneau and Howard Payne meet in a quarterfinal on Tuesday, with the winner getting ETBU in a semifinal on Friday. UMHB and Hardin-Simmons will end up playing for the second time in 8 days (just like last year) in Friday's semifinal. Championship game will be on Saturday at 6 pm CT.

UMHB has an outside shot at an at-large, while HSU is essentially Pool A or bust at this point. ETBU is a tournament lock, and is in line to host the first weekend of the tournament, in part due to geography. So we'll see how it plays out. Most likely chance for the ASC to get 2 teams in is either HSU or UMHB wins the AQ and ETBU takes an at-large.

...and a high likelihood of a Texas   first round bracket with McMurry (C10) and TLU (C18).
My guess is Colorado (Pool A #25) would fly to Whitman (Pool A #7) as a #2, SCIAC Pool A as a 3 or 4 plus 1 more flown in.

Millsaps (SAA Pool A) might be bussed in if needed.

I am guessing ETBU hosts because of geographic proximity.

I see ETBU floating around as #19 and the 15th best Pool A projection. I have a hard time of imagining the bean counters not giving us a "Texas" bracket if there were teams nearby from which to choose, e.g., 2 from the ASC, 2 from the SCAC and Millsaps, the projected Pool A from the SAA.

Almost ETBU...

Great game and a near historic comeback against TLU.
Ornelas was loud for the McM CLU game. I can only imagine what it would have sounded like if ETBU students had not left for Spring Break.

I found great information on the ASC website about McMurry, HS-U and HPU and those great teams in the 2000's.

https://ascsports.org/documents/2024/7/14//ASC_Chart_of_Champions_07_1_2024.pdf

The ASC was at its peak. The HSU head coach was Julie Goodenough who went to Okie State and then Shanna Briggs. The 2000 HSU team defeated McMurry 62-60 in a classic in the Sweet 16 then lost to Finalist St Thomas in the Elite 8. 2002 HSU lost to Finalist DePauw in the 2nd round. 2003 HSU lost to National Champion Trinity in the 2nd round. 2006 HSU made the Final Four.

As above, McMurry lost to HSU 62-60 in the Sweet 16 in 2000. The Tarra Richardson teams from 2006-2008 lost in the "Texas Bracket" which was frequently comprised of McMurry, HPU, HSU and Trinity. That winner was HSU 2006 Final Four, 2007 HPU Sweet 16, 2008 HPU National Champion, led by D3Hoops.com POTY Meia Daniels-Netter.

Tarra Richardson won the 2008 Jostens Trophy (think Heisman's for women's collegiate basketball). Trinity's Tara Rohde won the 2005 Jostens.

UTD and UTT have had their successes in the meantime. Let's see how far either McMurry or TLU can go.
