Is anyone breathing out there in USA South territory?
Any word on prospects for the 2010-2011 season? I have to assume CNU will be in a class by itself again, but what of the rest of the league? Anyone with some good incoming talent? Any predictions?

Rosters are out. Wow. CNU has all 5 starters returning, plus the top 9 scorers from last year. Add to that a Freshman class that looks good, including the State Player of the Year in Virginia.

Looking forward to see how they do against a D2 school Thursday night!

CNU opening at home tomorrow tonight against D2 Va. Union.  I think it says a lot about the Lady Captains and the Freeman Center that the higher level team agreed to play outside their own facility.

Congrats to Schweers - 2,000 pts! CNU looks like they have reloaded. The freshmen look good! I think this team will be better than last year!

CNU defeats #15 Messiah. Score was tied 29-29 at half. In the second CNU outscores Messiah 53-9 to win 83-38. Congratulations to Schweers...all time leading woman's scorer at CNU. Can she catch Lamont Strothers for all time CNU scorer?

Congrats to CNU, no doubt they are a really good team.  I really don't think a team of Top 25 quality would be outscored 53-9.  I hope for the sake of the validity of the polls that Messiah is dropped with zero votes for the top 25.  I mean they lost to Johns Hopkins too. CNU is a top 10 quality team, it would be interesting to see what the future lies ahead for them with the "weak" USASouth.  I am not sure they will still be at 4 when the new poll comes out.

CNU is an excellent team.  They beat W&L in a close game.   They are well coached, deep and they do have Schweers.  I do think their conference has 2 other good teams in Greensboro and Ferrum.  Danielle Duncan, Greensboro's center will give CNU real trouble.  That being said, I do think that you go undefeated in conference and far in the NCAA.  The second half by Schweers against W&L saved them from an upset.  She is so sound and such a smart player.

I don't think that she can catch him, but who cares?  What she has already done is AMAZING.  Karen Barefoot was one of the best women hoops players I've ever seen and Schweers is going to obliterate all of her records.  Congratulations to Chelsea and the Lady Captains.

she only needs 631 points with a guaranteed 23 games left (and that assumes a first round loss in conf tourney and no invite to NCAA....so if you add 5 more games - that's 22.5 ppg which is below her career avg and well below her avg the past 2 seasons). I love stats! :P

Please keep Coach Janice Joseph-Richard's family in your prayers! She passed away not long ago with her battle with cancer! She was a very dear friend of mine! She leaves a true legacy of courage and perseverance behind! She taught me to be a believer and never give up! May God comfort her family! Love
you Coach Richard! <>< LADY WILDCCAT FOREVER!!!!

Ok my question is where is everybody?

We have a top-5 team in the conference.
We have another team off to a 5-0 start.
We have AU who is off to a good start, not historically a strong basketball team, but has improved rapidly over the last couple of years.
NCWC already matched their conference win total from last year.

That is just the start of the stories.

Fastest start in Greensboro history at 6-0.

Made 14 3's on a 87-42 win over Mary Baldwin.

14 3's made according to the record book is tops in program history and 3pt% is #2 best in  program history at 43.8%

#14 for Meredith should have been ejected and also suspended for a few games. Also, she thought it was funny and laughing. Not sure about you, but when I lose by almost 20 points, that's not very funny!

Nice job, Melinda. I was hoping someone would bring the subject to light.

Interesting, although I wouldn't really think its something Schweers could expect on a regular basis as the article eluded too.

A similar foul happened to Greensboro over the weekend, sounds like this one was worse.  The foul was a push, a little less than this grab and tackle.
