Hey UCgrad.  Actually that game score was for the 00'-01 season.    The game I am talking about is the 01-02 season.  Caz beat utica 87-83 in OT.

Nice job BBallfan44. That team which beat Utica had, from what I remember, Chuck Cassidy and a mad-man named Justin Stowers ... who was like 27 years old. They actually got an at-large bid to the NCAA and were pounded by Williams.

bballfan44

Your right WNYhoops they did get an at-large bid, and they did get pounded by Williams.  Cassidy and there starting point guard did not play in the NCAA game,  Caz still would have lost but i think Cassidy who was there leading scorer and there PG who was there best defensive player would have made it maybe a 20 point lose instead.  And that year they did beat Utica,  it was probably the best team to ever play at Caz.

John McGraw

They didn't play in the game because one or both were involved in an off-campus fight where several basketball players beat the hell out of someone.

bballfan44

Sorry John McGraw, the fight that you are talking about was the next year.  And there was 5 basketball players supposely involved in that fight and they all went to court and 3 of them were found not guilty.  The reason Cassidy didn't play was because the game before that he got two technicals and by rule he had to sit out the next game.  The point guard did not play because he had the flu.

John McGraw

If three were found innocent, Captain Math says that means two were found guilty.

bballfan44

Your right good to see you can do your math,  but still the fight was during the 02-03 season so it had nothing to do with the NCAA game

WNY......saw Dyouvilles roster.  looks like they are chaning back to the team when Miller first coached which is a fast past athletic team like when he had guys like cook and starkes.............BBC is the only team with out an updated roster

WNYHoops

I just checked the roster myself. About what I expected from the summer league. Like I said earlier, they have some major athletes. Kind of small, but they make up for it with speed. I heard they scrimmaged Geneseo Saturday and held their own. Lost one 20 minute session by 5 and the second by 3. Geneseo won 15 games last year and has 4 starters returning. The kid I know who goes to school at DYC told me they had chances and were playing without Derrick Ware, who has been hurt. He is the spark plug to that team. They open at Buff State Friday night. A tough task to open with them, but could be entertaining. I will give you a report after the weekend.

Here is what everyone in the NEAC has for there first game.  Goodluck to everyone in the NEAC, hopefully they can make a stride this year to making this league better.

D'Youville @ Buff State (12-13)
Keuka @ Medaille (11-14)
BBC vs Marywood (5-20)
Keystone vs Hilbert (14-14)
PSU-berks @ Elizabethtown (9-15)
PBU @ Muhlenberg (10-15)
Cazenovia vs Medaille (11-14)
PSU-Harrisburg @ Dickerson (7-15)

Let's make some predictions (and thanks for the schedule) Here is how I see the openers going:

D'Youville at Buff State - Loss. Buff state too big and athletic for new-look Spartans. I expect DYC to hang in for a little while, but in the end I believe hosts will continue to dominate their cross-town "little brother."

Keuka at Medaille - Loss. Keuka has so many new faces with little experience. MEdaille gym is tough to play in and the Mavericks have everyone back from a decent team last year plus a very strong recruiting class. Tough opener on the road for Coach Flood in his first game.

BBC vs. Marywood - Win. Defenders should be able to handle future PAC rival Marywood in their opener. Unlike DYC and Keuka, BBC has a ton of experience back and even without Clarke they have a strong inside game with Workman, Penley and O'Keefe to dominate the paint. Coach Show keeps it rolling for the NEAC favorites.

Keystone vs. Hilbert - Win. The Giants at home are pretty tough. Although Hilbert has a great player in Reinhart, I still see Keystone winning on their home floor for their first-year coach. Another very athletic team that will surprise some in this conference.

Berks at Elizabethtown - Loss. Don't know anything about E-town but Berks without Askew will struggle to score. Could be a long year for the Lions.

PBU at Mulhelberg - Loss. PBU still stung by the injury of Arthur. Also a host of newcomers. Tough to win on the road in an opening tournament. Eagles might be in trouble too.

Caz vs. Medaille - Win. Medaille making its run thru the NEAC is the opponent for Caz in their home debut. Wildcats a different team at home than on the road and I think they may have the firepower to take down the Mavs.

Harrisburg at Dickerson - Loss. I know absolutely nothing about PSU-Harrisburg so this is just a guess. They are new to the league and come from a conference that Berks used to dominate. I would assume they would be similar in style and level as Berks. Put them down for a L at Dickerson.

Interesting news about BBC,  they scrimmaged Villa Julie and Scranton.  They played both schools like a real game.  They beat Villa Julie by 5 and beat scranton by 1.  The word is they look good.

Bballfan44, that's correct.  I was at that game.  Caz got blown out in the NEAC Championship game up at Erie CC.  The game got ugly at the end with technicals being assessed all over the place, including multiple Caz players & the coach.

Nice Job on the predictions.  all of them right so far.  Keuka/Medialle game was alot closer then i thought it would be.  Either Keuka is better then I think or Medialle is not as good as i thought.  WNY  did you watch any games?

I should go to Vegas and bet some of the D3 games from this conference. I did go to Buff State and saw D'Youville and the Bengals. What a track meet. BSC ended up winning by 30 but it did not seem like that much. Very entertaining. Both teams with some athletes. Buff State just bigger and stronger. Wore them out on the boards. Rebounding will be an issue for DYC all year. But if they get in the open court they will be dangerous in this league. There were a bunch of dunks from both teams. Derrick Ware from DYC still hobbled by leg injury which slowed him down some. Spartans also missed a lot of 3's. Scored most of their points in transition.

I was also surprised by Keuka showing. Maybe they are better than most thought. A lot of new faces in the league. I see PBU got hammered twice in a tournament and BBC split. Caz opens tomorrow with Medaille at home. Maybe we can get a read on them by comparing that score with the Keuka game.
