Williams proved to be the best team in the Ithaca pod. I know everyone has said they were the fifth team in from the NESCAC, but they were tied for second place in the regular season.
MSMC had a slow start down 12 at the half and as much as 14 early in the second, until they started to play their game. And at the 4 min mark made it all the way back to 50-49, a foul shot could have tie it but was missed. I think at that point it may have been a coaching error that cost the game. With 2 mins left the coach took out  Tice and Zrowka, two of the leading scores for the day. I guess to get them a quick rest, maybe in hind sight a timeout could have worked better. But the girls should be proud they played hard and made Williams know they were in a game

A new season approaches, will MSMC women take back control of the Skyline Conference or can Farmingdale continue their run. maybe a newcomer can make some noise, i guess it will take the season to find out

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. - Last season was the first in Skyline Conference history that  Mount Saint Mary did not win a Skyline Conference women's basketball title.  After winning 10 consecutive championships, the Knights were upended by Farmingdale State last season.  Mount Saint Mary, which still earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, was picked first in the Skyline preseason coaches' poll.

The Knights received eight first-place votes and 80 points.  Farmingdale State was picked second with two first-place votes and 73 points.  NYU-Poly (58) was picked third and Old Westbury (54) was selected fourth.

Mount Saint Mary had just one player average in double figures last season, but went 22-6 overall and 17-1 in Skyline Conference play.  The Knights' leading scorer last season, senior forward Shannon Sangster (12.2 points, 6.5 rebounds) has graduated, but Mount Saint Mary returns is next three scorers in Amanda Horvers, Natalie Garbie and Jess Tice.  Tice was an All-Skyline second-team selection.

Farmingdale State captured the Skyline Conference title last season and went 27-2 overall.  The Rams face the tall order of replacing Skyline Player of the Year and all-time leading scorer Kimberly Blakney.  Blakney averaged a conference-leading 25.6 points, 11.7 rebounds and 6.1 steals, ranking among the national leaders in both points and steals.  Farmingdale State expects to rely on a more balanced offensive attack this season.  Senior guard Juanita Chappel (7.2 points) is the Rams' top returning scorer.

NYU-Poly finished sixth in the conference last year, earning its first-ever Skyline tournament berth.  The Fighting Blue Jays return two of last season's top five scorers in Kristin Leitheuser and Margaux Pickell.  Pickell, who also averaged 10.7 rebounds, was an All-Skyline second-team selection.

Old Westbury was picked fourth after going 12-13 overall and 7-11 in Skyline play.

Looks like Mt St Mary defense is what makes this team Go.

In their 9 wins they have held opponents  to an average of 36 points a game, including holding #24 William Patterson to 44.

In their 2 losses they have surrendered 70 points a game. Did those two teams figure out the puzzle or did the defense have off nights ???

First Farmingdale Vs. MtSt Mary match up of the season today. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this, will Farmingdale be able to continue last years success? Or Will MSMC return to skyline dominance?

big game coming  (11-1) Western Conn at (10-2) MSMC Jan.13.  I believe wesconn will be in the top 25 at game time, can MSMC get the job done against another top 25 team? This will be the biggest test for MSMC until tourney time

congrats on a big win 63-60!  Western Connecticut was the best team Mt.St.Mary played this year so far. MSMC went toe to toe with WestConn and although a tight game throughout, controlled the pace and the lead most of the game.

and then followed up with the saturday game:

The Knights shot the ball extremely well, finishing at 65.2-percent from the field and 57.1-percent from three. The hot shooting resulted in a season-best 32 assists. On top of Mocanu's nine dimes, sophomore Charneice McCullough (Wyandanch, N.Y.) and freshman Fallon Witte (Loudonville, N.Y.) each added seven assists.

This team is a very unselfish group and plays tough defense, it may be the best team they have ever had. Maybe not with pure talent but how they play as one unit.
