First test passed, MSMC beats Old Westbury 59-49. Msmc held a  30-18 advantage at the half and held a lead of 10 to 19 points through out the second half. After scoring the Mount's first 8 points of the game Jess Tice was limited to 15 minutes for the game and one additional point due to foul trouble

with Bard and Yeshiva leaving the Skyline Conference next year it gives MSMC a chance to further strengthen  their out of league schedule. This years out of league games included:

Montclair State University 10-9
Ithaca College 14-5 (NCAA last year)
Baruch 17-4,( NCAA last year)
William Paterson University 17-3 #21 (NCAA last year)
Western Connecticut State 16-3 # 19 at time of game (NCAA last year)
Lehman College 12-8

If they could add a NYU, Scranton, or Kean just to mention a few possibilities, they would have a very respectable out of league schedule.

d3hoops schedule has Yeshiva beating Old Westbury 82-48  on 11/30/10.

This is wrong Old Westbury won that game by the same score

That was pointed out to us and we told Old Westbury how to log in and fix it. I guess it's not a priority for them to participate in D3hoops.com in the regular season, so I wonder how big a priority it will be when it comes to postseason awards and other things.

ok,

Thanks Pat, I did not realize it was up to the school to change and that they were aware of it. Guess they dont mind ???

Don't know hat to tell you. Hope Old Westbury doesn't run into similar problems trying to, say, nominate Lester Prosper for All-Region. We've given them plenty of opportunities to get on board over the years.

second test passed

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – To complete a sweep of the defending Skyline Conference champions, the Mount Saint Mary College women's basketball team defeated Farmingdale State College, 49-45, on Saturday afternoon. The Knights improved to 18-2 overall and to 14-0 inside the Skyline Conference, while the Rams fell to 14-6 overall (10-3 Skyline).

After trailing for the opening thirty minutes, Farmingdale took their first lead of the game as junior Kayla Koch (Kings Park, N.Y.) knocked down back-to-back jumpers to give the Rams a 35-34 advantage with 9:41 remaining in the contest.

Senior Jess Tice (Altamont, N.Y.) responded with a pair of free throws at the 8:41 mark and following a stop at the other end, Tice extended the Mount possession with an offensive rebound. The senior then found junior Amanda Horvers (Kingston, N.Y.) for a three-pointer that extended the lead for the Knights to 39-35.

Later, Farmingdale sophomore Jeanette Zubizarreta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) drained a three-pointer at the 4:04 mark to cut the deficit to 44-41. A scoring drought of two and a half minutes ensued, but as the clock ticked under 90 seconds, it was Mount sophomore Charneice McCullough (Wyandanch, N.Y.) who broke through with a layup, staking the Knights to a five-point lead (46-41) with 1:25 to go. The Rams would not threaten down the stretch, and Mount Saint Mary held on for a 49-45 win.

Despite shooting just 4-of-17 from the field, senior Tice led the Mount with 13 points. The senior also added 14 rebounds, six blocks, and three assists. In addition to her key late-game layup, McCullough connected three times from three and joined Tice at a team-high 13 points. Sophomore Kate Hartnett (Floral Park, N.Y.) tallied six points and 11 rebounds.

PLAYOFF Stretch top 6 get in!

MSMC and Farmingdale look like they will get the first round byes.
Old Westbury and Poly look like  locks to make it.
Then the group of 4 fighting for the last two places, Mt. St. Vincent looks like a long shot but they have the easiest schedule of the group.

I would love to have Mount St. Mary in the LEC.  Give them a better conference to prepare themselves for the NCAA (they could probably beat at least half of the Syline teams playing their bench) plus West Conn could actually get a decent road trip to a conference team.

Sounds good how do we make it happen! At least if they make it an annual non-conference game. They had a great battle earlier this year, in a game that could have gone either way. Tice and Teal had a nice individual battle to, Teal couldnt stop Tice driving in the first half and Tice couldnt stop Teal in the post in the second half with each finishing with 19 points.

Sounds good, but would be nice to have each other as conference opponents so we could get a rematch at Feldman arena.  How about a rematch in the NCAA tournament??  Next year our team will be pretty bad as we lose Spera, Lee & Teel to graduation our 3 money players, so the Knights shouldn't have much trouble if they play next year in Danbury.
