2K take two for me

Greetings - you rookie! ;D

Of course, with Hope's football season, I guess there hasn't been much reason to post.  (Ooh, that was cold! :-[)

Things should pick up this winter - Hope ranks third in the country in combined men's and women's bball pre-season poll (with IWU 4th). :)

I blew it. I was too busy posting tonight to notice that I missed a milestone post -- three-quarters of the way to ten thou. This one is #7502.

Forgive me as I digress to talk about attendance at basketball games   ;)

2007-2008 DIII Mens Basketball attendance

School     G/S   Attendance      Avg.
Hope     17   51278      3016
Wooster     15   24318      1621
Ill. Wesleyan     11   16350      1486
Buena Vista     13   18525      1425
Calvin     13   17856      1373
Wis.-Stevens Point     14   18901      1350

If I am not mistaken, that is the first time in many years that the top three was not some mix of Hope, Calvin and IWU.  That also seems like a low year for IWU.  Before Hope's new gym, that battle for 1st was often pretty close.  Now it is Hope by a mile.

Look for Calvin to move up significantly - with their new field house opening in January.    Pre-conference they are playing at a local high school , so that will cut inot it a bit.  New location to seat 5000, and with it being new and all, they could hit a pretty high number this year.

I don't have the stats in front of me, but this has to be the first time in a LONG time that at least #2, if not #3 wasn't over 2k.  In 2004, UWSP was 4th in the country at 1900...  And in some of the good Platteville years, they averaged over 3000 too.

The crowd fell silent, their hero stepped to the line.   Never was the pressure so great.   A slow motion glance towards the bench........they were all counting on him, he had to make it.

A wipe of sweat from the brow, a quick glance at the rim, fully focused the back drop fades to black.  One quick bounce from the referee, ball in hand.   He toes the line, a deep breath, one dribble........two dribbles.....three dribbles.  Always three, always three.   Another deep breath.

Only the rim in focus, slight spin of the ball,  bend the knees, slow smooth release.

Its a high archer, pure as its ever been...............swish.

But seriously, that was awesome. Also, am I allowed to like the fact that I am like 5000th on the most posts list?

You have managed to keep your karma higher than your number of posts!    :D

They moved like silent assassins, striking in dark of night.  Boldy moving through the crowded days........lashing out without warning.

Questions, so many questions..... some too tough to answer, others easy to explain.  Stories of recruits, coaches, by gone days of yor.  Yes and even parents behavior.........the horror.

Some came with a twinge of anger, others of pure hate.  Some brought Unicorns that won't leave the brain.

You don't know when they'll strike, but rest assured they're out there silently stalking their pray.

Yeah, but I only lost on a 'technicality' - your utter disappearance for awhile (and a name-change)! ;)

I get a kick out of you trying to convince posters that you are a mere 'newbie'.  Like you could come on here with 'I'm only 5,000th'?  I suspect (even now) more like 7th. ;D

Mr. Ypsi

Ralph, I notice that you hit 17,000 on some OTHER board.  Have you reached the point that you figure only multiples of 5,000 are worth acknowledging? :o ;D
