That rule is so much older than Augiedad, but Augiedad certainly qualifies under its tenets.  :)

Hoops Fan... yes, sort of.... I can have a mischevious streak, which results in a whole lot of silly trash talking. But even the thought of someone thinking that I am mean, or the idea of offending someone who didn't do anything to me because of that trash talking really bothers me.

Acting offended is a great way to get me from sarcastic to serious, remorseful, and sympathetic in a heartbeat. I was just made fun of waaay to much as a kid to ever want to inflict real pain on someone. 6otta love overactive consciences and guilt complexes! :)

6reg, you don't have to pretend to be nice to Wheaton just for me.... I like you just the way you are. :)

Hey, what about that obnoxious "Wheaton" fan  who was obsessed with how awesome IWU was too... that was a pretty good TOS #6 possibility as well!

I'm a huge, HUGE CalTech fan, so you can take this as an unbiased statement.  Man, it sure seems like the East Coast schools are getting the short end of the straw here with d3 basketball.  It seems like everything done is done to keep them down.  Man, I don't know what I would do if we West-Coasters were treated so shabbily.

+K to Greg and Dennis, I personally like Dennis acerbic posts and Gregs "Liberal Arts Gone Awry" posts filled with useless knowledge,  the best kind of knowledge in my opinion.  I also have to say that Dennis' and Joes' back and forths remind me of my father and a former co-worker of his who loved to insult each other.  Their day just did not seem complete until they got a couple of zingers in.

As much as I like Greg, I'm not so much against anyone as I am against the idea of one of the most perceptive posters having so little "karma".

Like David, I usually use my karma button to up the karma of people I feel have disproportionate levels of karma. It wasn't me who made you have negative karma Dennis, someone probably just didn't like your actual statement for whatever reason.

That's probably an accurate guess. People can be just as zealously devoted to their high school -- or their high school's conference -- as they are to their college or their college's conference. There was likely some 200-post veteran who is connected to an MSL school in some way who did not take kindly to Dennis' comments about that league's style of ball but who chose to express his displeasure with a smite rather than a rebuttal.

I have no opinion one way or the other as to whether MSL basketball is "mechanical" or not. I very rarely see an MSL team play. I saw one MSL team (Schaumburg) play one game last season (vs. Loyola), and that was it. I don't think that MSL alumni who play for any of the local D3 schools are necessarily any more mechanical than anyone else, but that doesn't mean anything. College ball and high school ball aren't the same thing, and players often adapt their style of play to whatever is required of them once they get into college -- especially CCIW players, who tend to be a very coachable lot.

Ah, yes ... I remember him well. That was three or so years ago. The person in question went by the imaginative name of Wheaton Fan. But his posting tone was quite a bit more choleric than Augiedad's, so I doubt that they were both hand puppets of the same puppeteer.

One cool fact about Caltech that I learned recently is that many, if not most, of the students walk around the campus barefoot. That wouldn't be noteworthy if it was a hippie school or a party school. But Caltech has long cultivated a reputation as being a school full of grinds. That makes the barefoot thing sort of charming; their heads may be hurting from information overload, and their stomachs may be twisting from deadlines and other academic responsibilities, but their feet are in complete comfort.

So there are college cafeterias where you would consider spending your hard-earned money as a dining-out possibility?

Hard for me to believe ... apart from Wheaton (IL) College, of course, where every night is Steak Night.  :D

I see not too many have eaten in the cafeteria at Paul Smiths college or at Johnson and Wales.  So what if Hotel and Restauraunt management and culinary arts are the schools respective strengths.

I'm strictly talking about your garden-variety college campus dining halls. The various Johnson & Wales campuses don't count, because of their culinary arts specialization. Neither does Kendall College, which is another school that has a strong culinary arts program. When NPU used to play Kendall College in basketball, North Park's Carlson Crazies would dress up in aprons and chef hats, bang pots and pans, and chant recipes when the Kendall players were at the FT line.

lol... it's not quite like that, but yeah, our food is really good... my sis used to get really excited about going to our dining hall when she visited :D :D :D

one year, when the ratings came out, and we were picked as #2 in the nation, we had a fancy meal (lobster, prime rib and shrimp type stuff) a fancy cheese and olive display, and the best... a big ice sculpture of a #2...  :D

good stuff

Shrimp-type stuff is the best you can do when you're stuck so far from the ocean.  Believe me, I've found out quite a bit about poor-excuses for seafood during my time in Kansas City.
