Hoops Fan, you can let the horse mosey - third place looks safe (and you AIN'T gonna catch Ralph or Pat!).

I actually made up some ground on Ralph during basketball season, but he's just about lapped me since March, so I've given up that fight.  Although Ralph may catch Pat one of these days.

That's possible. Ralph posts a lot. :)

I'm pretty sure Ralph has put several thousand posts in since the final four.

Nah, less than a thousand, even co-moderating the Baseball Message Board and commenting the conference shuffles and the Future of D-III.  ;)

Yes, I enjoy the forum that Pat has provided for us D-III fans, but many of those posts have come from transcribing in-game updates for four sports.

...in other words, cheating.   ;D

I'm going to post basket-by-basket score updates of Grinnell games this season, and hope to catch Ralph in this manner.  :D

(Just kidding; of course Ralph is near the top of the QPP--Quality Per Post--rankings as well.)

I don't think David's fingers and eyes could keep up with a Grinnell game.

I didn't pay attention to how the table handled statistical input on the occasions when Grinnell's played at Lake Forest, but in the Grinnell game that I watched at Elmhurst last season the Stat Crew operator (Elmhurst SID Kevin Juday) used two spotters to keep him abreast of the goings-on on the court -- and he needed them, because during a Grinnell game the operator's data entry input is so rapid-fire that he has to totally focus upon what he's typing in order to prevent errors. The spotters weren't auxiliary statisticians (i.e., marking substitution times, recording non-book stats such as rebounds and assists, etc., in addition to spotting) -- they were full-time spotters whose only duty was to be Kevin's eyes on the game.

My personal theory is that "Ralph Turner" is actually the name of a vast syndicate of Texas-based posters operating with the same e-mail account and a common stylebook and mission statement.

Or perhaps Ralph employs a colony of computer-literate gnomes that live in his basement.

Ralph actually cloned himself. There are secret labs all over the place in the scrubland of west Texas.

I had to come here to post 1500.  Minor accomplishment - but it's better than nothing on a rainy day

FDF, welcome!

I plan to be in Albion for their tourney (including IWU) on Nov. 16-17.  I notice Hope doesn't begin until the 23rd.  Any chance you'll scout the opposition and come join me?

Of course, UM-OSU is on the 17th (in Ann Arbor!) - if they go head-to-head with the IWU game, I've got a tough decision to make (though I probably couldn't make it home anyway, but TV or real life?)!

Doubtful that I'll be there.  The Hope Women open their season with a home tourney that weekend.  They should have another great team this year.  Wouldn't bother me one bit to finish the year watching them play a tournament at home too (since Hope is the host school for the women's Final Four the next 2 years).  All of this would of course go out the window were it necessary for me to accompany the Dutchmen to Salem.   ;D

FDF,

Serves me right for not checking the women's schedule too - I guess Hope DOES start that same weekend! :-[

Chuck if I'm still in the area, I have the Friday night games circled on my calender.

Saturday is taken. ;)
