Hoops,

For the poster I thought would be eternally third, you're 399 posts too late! ;D

HF's really slowed down on his posting this season. I have a sneaking suspicion that he's betrayed us and is now actually working for a living.

I suspect you are right.  On the other hand, I retired - geez, if I had only done that 3 years earlier, Ralph and even the guru would be dust! ;D

You can work and post at the same time. Multi-tasking!

It's actually the opposite.  I've been working full-time doing a job that only required about 20 hours a week, but the office wouldn't make it a part time position because HR would never give them the full time position back in the future.

Now I'm a full-time student for 18 months and somehow have less time to post.  Go figure.

I can't remember the rules. Am I supposed to check in here every hundred posts?

If so, here's 6600!

Wow. It took nine days for me to post a hundred times. That's not a Turnerian pace, of course, but nonetheless it did surprise me. :o

I think that kind of posting "Momentum" is now known as Obama-ian...  :D

Haven't seen any 'Obama' posts here - which conference is he with? ;)

SCIAC.

That one went totally over my head, Pat - I even checked the members list to see if anyone was using that name.  He could claim Illinois (and Hawaii, Indonesia, Kansas and Kenya, though those have few d3 schools!), but SCIAC (Cali was his last loss!)?

QuoteFew outside of Los Angeles (and few from Los Angeles) are familiar with tiny Div III Occidental College, though it produced some memorable NFL players and coaches such as retired coach Jim Mora ("Playoffs?!) and qb/ex-Senator Jack Kemp, not to mention succesful Hollywood types. The school also may have produced a future US President: Barack Obama attended the school from 1978-1980 and was the school's leading scorer in basketball in 1979.

Mr. Ypsi

Thanks, David. In all the Obama coverage, I never recall hearing of his Oxy connection.  (And I'm leaning towards Obama - damned eastern bias in the media! :D)  Any other candidates with d3 ties?

Trivia question (and I do NOT know the answer): Which presidents have ties to current d3 schools?  (Nixon and Whittier is obvious, but I seem to recall there are several others).

Reagan -- Eureka College (Football player)
Coolidge -- Amherst
Franklin Pierce -- Bowdoin
Wm H. Harrison -- Hampden-Sydney (dropout)
James Buchanan -- Dickinson
James Garfield -- Hiram transferred to Williams
Rutherford B Hayes -- Kenyon
Warren G Harding -- Ohio Central College (Muskingum)
Chester A Arthur -- Union

Reagan  Eureka College

d'oh!  How could I forget to include that in 'the obvious'!  But it seems to me that there are some from Ohio, Virginia, and perhaps elsewhere.

For what it's worth, I believe that "fact" about him being the leading scorer may not be all that accurate.

William McKinley attended Allegheny College

Although Ohio Central may have been absorbed into Muskingum when it went out of business (Wikipedia thinks so, but I see nothing about this on Muskingum's web site), Muskingum College has been around since 1837 and was a separate institution when Harding attended OCC.

And both the ill-fated President Carlisle and his acerbic wife Tess attended Denison University, where they met. ;)
