Guess we found Amherst's first round opponent.

Unless its Finlandia; then they'd have to fly.

Finlandia could bus to Wartburg.

Just barely... LOL

ACAA semifinals

Valley Forge 66, SUNY-Canton 50

Pine Manor 88, Finlandia 70

Sunday-- Valley Forge v Pine Manor

IMO, it looks like Valley Forge will be the most likely Pool B pick when the selections come in.

Final -- ACAA title game:  Valley Forge 73, Pine Manor 67

Valley Forge is your 2017-18 ACAA Champion.

Pool B candidates--

Atlantic

Trinity Washington-- 0-8 (.000), SOS of .432

Central

Marantha Baptist-- 4-8 (.333), SOS of .369
Mount Mary-- 4-8 (.333), SOS of .313
Finlandia-- 4-18 (.182), SOS of .526

East

SUNY-Canton-- 9-10 (.474), SOS of .397
Pine Manor-- 9-15 (.375), SOS of .427
New Rochelle-- 6-11 (.353), SOS of .484

Mid-Atlantic

Valley Forge-- 12-6 (.667), SOS of .384

Northeast

UMaine Presque Isle-- 0-8 (.000), SOS of .521

West

UC Santa Cruz-- 3-11 (.214), SOS of .587

No Pool B candidate defeated a RRO this season.

Valley Forge is the only Pool B team with a winning percentage better than .500; therefore, having satisfied the Women's Basketball Committee's preference that a Pool B pick be .500 or better, Valley Forge is the most likely Pool B pick.

Caz Bombers

with an 11-point loss on the road to Randolph-Macon, gotta give some props to Valley Forge, they played much closer than a whole bunch of other teams that took more traditional roads to the Dance.

So who is/are the pool B candidate/s this year?

This year, there is not very much to write about Pool B.  Thomas More (ACAA) is the #1 ranked team in the Great Lakes at 25-0 and has that 1 Pool B bid locked up.  The ACAA joins the UAA this year as a multi region conference, where members of these 2 conferences are placed in their natural geographic regions for evaluation purposes.

Northeast-- Pine Manor (ACAA)
East-- Alfred State (ACAA), New Rochelle (Ind)
Atlantic,-- Atlantic East Conference (Leader is Marymount, currently ranked #4 in Atlantic -- Marymount is a Pool C candidate), Trinity Washington (ACAA)
Mid-Atlantic-- Valley Forge (ACAA)
Great Lakes-- Thomas More (ACAA)-- #1 in GL-- Pool B pick.
Central-- Marantha Baptist, Finlandia (ACAA), Mount Mary (ACAA)
West-- UC Santa Cruz
South-- None

Thomas More is 25-0 overall.

Update-- As of the week 2 regional rankings, Thomas More, with a d3 record of 21-0, with 10 wins vs regionally ranked opponents, and an SOS of .611, most likely has the best Pool B resume in the entire history of the D3 Women's basketball tournament.

Marymount, at 18-5, 2-2 v RRO, and a SOS of .536, is in the mix for one of the 20 Pool C bids.

Thanks. I forgot that Thomas More was independent this year and eligible.

Do you think Marymount would still be a pool C bid if they lose 1 more game or do they have to win AEC?

I'd like to see them get in, but not at the expense of my Lady Cavs.  ;D

If Cabrini v Marymount is the Saturday Atlantic East title game, go for it!  I think Marymount is still in the mix for a Pool C bid at 21-6.

As far as the ECAC goes, maybe I get a match of Cabrini v NYU the following week.😉

gordonmann

My guess is that Marymount is in if they win the AEC tourney and maybe even if they don't.

There are just days left in the regular season and conference tournaments are in full throat. And those vying to get into the NCAA Tournament are already sitting on the proverbial "bubble."

There are two ways to keep dancing in March, either win the conference automatic qualifier (i.e. tournament in most cases) or hope one's resume is good enough to be selected. However, with upsets in conference tournaments come some nervous times for those needing the at-large avenue.

Some teams are already on the bubble, but are they in trouble?

On Thursday's Hoopsville, Dave brings in guests who either have already lost or may need to win. We also enjoy the thrill of victory. And hear from a coach in charge of off-season workouts and practices at her institution. What goes into such a job as most teams start to make the transition to next season.

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. Thursday's show can be seen LIVE starting at 7:00 p.m. ET right here: http://bit.ly/2NhkfYn (or via Facebook Live and Periscope simulcasts).

ACAA semifinal #1. Halftime

Thomas More 58, Alfred State 28

I paid $4 to watch this blowout on line.  Fewer than 100 fans in attendance in Alfred, NY.

Final-- Thomas More 106, Alfred State 56

Game went as I would have expected.  Saints play tomorrow afternoon against either Valley Forge or Finlandia for the ACAA title.

Update-- Thomas More plays Valley Forge on Sunday.  Score of game vs Alfred State corrected.

deiscanton

Congrats to Thomas More-- 2018-19 ACAA Champion.

Thomas More is the only d3 women's basketball team still undefeated.

This is it! The regular season is over. The conference titles have been handed out and 86 teams know they will be playing next week in the NCAA Division III men's and women's Championship Tournaments!

However, 42 slots need to be filled. Which programs have best positioned themselves to selected to play for a national title?

It is the biggest show of the year. Bubble teams watch anxiously. Rivals watch wondering if their rivals will make the event. Others watch because ... this is one of the best nights of the entire season.

Tune in a special episode of Hoopsville where we will make our mock selections of who will be in and who will be left out of the DIII national tournaments. Our teams of experts will make the picks using the same criteria the national committees consider.

Plus, hear, one last time before the brackets are announced, from the national committee chairs who discuss how this year's rankings and process have worked out. And hear from some teams who have already punched their tickets to the tournaments - many for the first time in program history!

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. Sunday's special will hit the air at 6:00 p.m. ET right here: http://bit.ly/2XuWjWa (or via Facebook Live or Periscope simulcasts).

The second weekend of the DIII Men's and Women's Championship Tournaments is set to start. Can the upset minded teams continue to prevail? Can the "favorites" maintain their poise? What home team will enjoy their own cooking? And who will still be playing in Fort Wayne and Salem?
