Remaining Schedules of NAthCon teams on the outside:

Aurora:  at Alverno, vs. Maranatha, at Rockford.

Benedictine: at Maranatha, at Edgewood.

On paper, IMHO, Benedictine's got the tougher of the 2 schedules.  :-X :-\ :-X :-\

Concordia-WI won again tonight-with one regular season NAthCon game left, the Falcons will finish the regular season with no worse than 2 in-conference regular season losses and the #1 seed for the conference tournament.  :) ;) :D :) ;) :D

WLCALUM83:

The Lincoln women's team have made a dramatic turnaround from the 2006 record of 8-19 to a school record 16 wins with one game remaining for the 2007 season.  The Lady Lions final game at Eastern (3-21) should give Lincoln a 17 win season.  Two of the eight losses were to Division two schools.

Do you think the Lady Lions have any chance of "sneaking" in a NCAA berth?

No, because I don't even find Lincoln's QOWI in the first 200.

Did I miss it?

Ralph is in a position in which he can justify following things on a more nation-wide basis than I can. I keep up on NAthCon and American Southwest Conference women's action, mostly.

Thanks for asking me. No offense intended, but I'm going to agree with Ralph for the most part. Whether Lincoln qualifies or not, the turnaround that your squad had is nothing to sneeze at. That's the half-full side of the glass you'll always be able to look at when you look back on this season. :) ;) :D :) ;) :D

njlincoln, sorry.  I jumpedinto your conversation asi was scanning the morning'sactivity.

I am beginning to think that you stand a better chance of the men getting into the field.

Ralph:

I'll settle for the Men in the postseason in a heartbeat  ;D .  It is great to see the womens program progress.  The key is for the women to maintain the momentum like the men have.

Concordia-WI women end up with only 1 regular season NAthCon in-conference loss. Does that squad necessarily have to win both of its' potential conference tournament games to get into Nationals?

Maybe not, but every loss drops the QOWI by about 0.4 points in the index (8 QOWI divided by ~ 20 games = 0.4)

By now, you are fighting for seeding!

Pat - I know the QOWI does not have anything to do with the top 25 but for the Regional rankings is that what they go by, or is there something else also? The reason I ask is because on the Top 200 QOWI list you put out on Feb. 21 Gwynedd Mercy is 15th with a QOWI of 10.840 and ranked 3rd in the Mid-Atlantic and McDaniel is 17th with a QOWI of 10.760 and ranked 4th in the Mid-Atlantic. But under the last Reginal rankings that was put out on Feb. 18 it was the other way around with McDaniel ranked 3rd in the Mid-Atlantic and GMC 4th. Thanks for your help.

Pat's a little busy; perhaps this will help.

Quote from: Division 3 Women's Basketball Championship Handbook, pp 16fSelection Criteria
The Division III Championship Committee has established the following selection criteria for all Division III team sports.
• After the determination of the automatic (Pool A berths), the committee will determine the Pool B selections followed by the Pool C selections.
• The sports committee will select teams in Pools B and C based on the criteria below. The criteria of two or more teams will be compared to determine the higher ranked team.
An attempt will be made to determine the ranking of two or more teams after consideration of the primary criteria. The PRIMARY CRITERIA emphasize regional competition and all the criteria listed will be evaluated (not listed in preferential order.)
If the evaluation of the primary criteria does not result in a decision, the SECONDARY CRITERIA will be used. All the criteria listed will be evaluated (not listed in preferential order.) The secondary criteria introduce results against out-of-region Division III and all other opponents including those contests versus opponents from other classifications (i.e., provisionals, NAIA, NCAA Division I and II.)

Primary Criteria. For ranking and selections (all contests leading up to NCAA championships):
• Win-loss percentage against regional opponents
• Quality-of-Wins-Index (only contests versus regional competition)
• In-region head-to-head competition.
• In-region results vs. common regional opponents.
• In-region results vs. regionally ranked teams
> Ranked opponents are defined as those teams ranked at the time of the ranking/selection process only.
> Conference postseason contest(s) is included.
> Contest versus provisional members in their third and fourth years shall count in the primary criteria. Provisional members shall remain ineligible for rankings and selection.

Secondary Criteria. For ranking and selection:
• Out-of-region head-to-head competition.
• Overall Division III won-loss percentage.
• Results versus common non-Division III opponents.
• Results versus Division III teams ranked in other regions.
• Overall win-loss percentage.
• Results versus common out-of-region opponents.
• Overall Division III Quality of Wins.
