Let's see how Thomas More does in the Pres AC tourney and Piedmont in the GSAC!

I think that they, Rockford, blew it!

Thanks for the request to clarify, d3d3.

d3d3

You think who blew it??

keith45

So no NIIC teams are getting in this year, huh?? Rockford dropped one big game..which hurt.  And next year, with the super-confrence and no AQ, its possible that one team MAYBE gets in!! I think Lakeland gets both squads in this year, from the LMC....due to the amount of conferece games next year, what do you think (Ralph) that a team in the new conference has to do non-conference to get in? I don't even think anyone has a really tough non-conference slate next year (or nothing as tough as AU women had this year; Milikin (there) Wheaton (there) Chicago (there), Elmhurst (there), Carthage, North Central, Webster (home) and North Park(there)....

Keith, I will defer to more knowledgeable voices, but if the new group were to keep the "LMC charter",  basically have the LMC absorb the NIIC, then I believe that they would retain Pool A eligibility next year.

This is what happens with respect to Pools

341=# schools in Pool A conferences in 2005-06

37= # Pool A conferences in 2005-06.

341 dividied by 37 = 9.22 for an access ratio of 1:9.22

41 = Pool B schools in 2005-06

41 divided by 9.22 = 4 Pool B schools.

In 2006-07, if the LMC and the NIIC decide to form a new conference, subtract  7 (2005-06 LMC schools) from 341 but add 8 NEAC schools who become Pool A = 342.  Divide 342 by 37 Pool A conferences to get an access ratio of 1:9.30.

Take the 41 Pool B schools + 7 LMC minus  1 (Eureka who joins the SLIAC) minus 8 members of the NEAC = 39 by 9.22 = 4 Pool B bids for 2006-07.

For the sake of the student-athletes, is there that unfavorable an image of the Lake Michigan Conference, or too much ego, lack of visibility, unfavorable marketing profile or whatever, that the NIIC schools want to spend 2 more years in "Bumbledom"  in all sports?

Or does the MSOE's dropping the LMC to 6 men's programs make all of this a moot point for the men?

Comments please.

Keith, I realize that I went off on a tangent.  More later tonight.

Ralph Turner

Keith, I am still at work, but Alverno in the women makes 8 members.  Perhaps the LMC could keep the Women's Pool A bid after the departure of MSOE.

And, Dominican makes 8 after in the men this year.

Is that long enough for the men to have 7 teams?

I am in favor of the NIIC merging into the LMC!

IMHO, most programs actually do better in a Pool A status.

Maryville (TN) beat Agnes Scott in the GSAC finals 66-29.  It probably hurts the QOWI but ought to get them a Pool B.

Anyone have any insight or predictions on the 4 Pool B spots (especially Pat or Ralph)????

I think that knocks down Neb Wes.

I don't think that the Chapman (West Region) over UDallas (South Region counts as an in-region game for the NCAA.

The Neb Wes loss is worth 5 points for Chapman.

Looks as if it will be:

Wash and Jeff
Maryville (Tenn)
Chapman

and either:
Piedmont

Thomas More
Rockford
