Vince,

Planning a family road trip to Mudville for Bash/Gheny.  Not sure where the team will stay Friday night but what options do I have in Meadville?  Any recommendations?

BB765 - who is this dude, at least give us the school?  Is it Julius Peppers - I think he is out of eligibility.  Please share...

BB16 -

Maybe it's Jason Taylor.....looking for another place to play.  The Miami Dolphins are going nowhere this year.

BB16,

I've been away from Mudville for almost 3 years now, but you've got the Holiday Inn Express, Days Inn, and Motel 6 all right next to the exit on I-79.   This would make getting to your hotel very easy and there would be a lot of restaraunts right next to you.  In most cases, you could walk across the parking lot to get to one. Plus, when you head to the game on Saturday, all you have to do is make a turn out of your parking lot and head straight to the field.  There are a lot of stop lights, but literally NO turns (just a slight merge when you cross the bridge into town) and the trip will take you right past the western edge of the campus.  If you want other options, I believe there is also a Super 8 about a half mile up the road.  This one would require you to take the Conneaut Lake exit, however.  If you need help with directions, let me know, but it's all pretty simple.

Not sure if I'll be able to make it up for that one, but I hope the weather cooperates as the field is actually pretty nice when it's not soaked.  It's surrounded by trees so on a sunny day in October the landscape is quite picturesque.  Never really noticed that when I was playing, though.  Hope the trip is worthwhile for you in every way but the final score  :)

Vince,

Once again I echo your comments in your recent post(42) 100%.   That is what I have been trying to say all along.  Unfortunetly, I haven't been able to get that point accross to Wally.

For the record, nobody here is saying they're 'scared' of Witt. Nobody was ever 'scared' of Witt (at least not when I played). I'm only saying that they should still be respected as a dangerous opponent despite their recent struggles. That's it. I never believed Witt had an aura of any type.

BB16,

It is a Big 10 school.  Not sure how good of football player he will turn out to be.  He only played his freshman year of HS.  He did letter as a frosh.  He had a disagreement with the coach his sophmore year.  He was playing baseball at the World Series, and the football coach wanted him at doubles.  He made his choice to play baseball, and give football up.  He decided to try football.  His dad was a very good Big 10 OL.  He is the best athlete to ever go through our local HS, and that is saying something.  He was a 2nd round draft choice in the 2000 MLB draft.  He holds  school records for scoring & rebounding in basketball.  I only kid about Wabash, but his MLB team is paying his college tuition, so cost would not be an issue.

Still, 6'6 275  and a legit 4.5 forty makes him more than a freak.  BB16 is right in saying that only Julius Peppers is at that stage.  Even Dwight Freeney isn't close to that size.  With those numbers, he'd be a top ten draft pick never having played football.

Vince McMahon

Legit 4.5 speed at 275 lbs?  I'd have to see it to believe it.

Lancer98,  never thought I'd live to see the day when Wooster and Allegheny people were seeing eye to eye on anything.  :D

wally_wabash

If it were Wooster or Wabash or OWU that was 0-3, giving up over 40 points a game and over 500 yards per game, they'd be written off.  Maybe not in the sense that nobody would think that they are incapable of winning any games against the upper half of the conference, but certainly with respect to their chances of winning the NCAC championship.  The only reason you're hesitant to just come out and say "Witt doens't have a chance to win the NCAC this year" is because of the name.

Let me pose this question:  What have you seen from Witt in 2005 that makes you think that they can be a serious player for the NCAC championship?

Vince,

I know it hard to believe.  This young man is a man beast.  He actually ran a 4.4 in HS, but that was when he was 235 pounds.  We have had several young men play in the Majors, and one play in the NFL and he is the best of the best.  He had arm problems that he has continued to fight since his Rookie year.  He just got tired of fighting them.  Your right he could be a legit NFL draft choice in the future.  Right now I think he likes drinking beer and deer hunting as much as he likes athletics.  If he gets cleared, and dedicates himself like I know he can.  You very well could be seeing him on Sunday's.

and the answer is.......

David Beigh  - TE /  Fr. Purdue

Laf Harrison

They list him at 6-5 258.

Talented guy though......

Maybe its just me, but I've always had kind of a problem with "professional" athletes switching sports so they can play college ball.  Instances where kids play pro-baseball in the summer and college football in the spring I guess isn't as "unfair," but the Weinkes and Bowers of the world, I think, really do undermine the integrity of the amateur college football game.  Playing a professional sport for years, being in a professional atmosphere subject to professional training, not to mention giving your body and mind time to mature, is a distinct advantage for a 25 year old "freshmen" coming out to compete against 18-19 year old kids.  I just don't think its fair.  Comments?

Bashbacker765

DING, DING, DING we have a winner!

Sorry, I thought Dave was 6'6".  He has dropped some pounds since I saw in in the early summer.  He was in beer drinking form when I saw him last.  He is a great athlete.  Hope the best for him.

reality check

Oh yeah well I heard about a guy that is 6'9", 335 lbs and he runs a legit 4.34 forty.  And I hear he wants to play at Wabash too.

The above is not true in any way, shape or form.[/b]

BB765,

If he does end up at Wabash, he would surpass Billy King as the most highly touted and potentially most overrated player in Wabash history - right?

...and BB765 may be Josh Mills????  Former #33, Beta Theta Pi, Harrison H.S., OLB, and concussion prone.  Former Knott roommate (ran with Clifton, Deno, Boston, etc.)...  Confirmation soon.

BashBro - I just got a call from Dog the Bounty Hunter, he'd like to talk to us about working for him...
