Congrats to Creighton on going to the D-1 level sure will miss his talks and coaching. Any word on the asst coaches?

Since Creighton U. is a fellow Missouri Valley Conference member, it's probably just as well they don't field a football team! ;)

Before we get carried away with talking about who's next, I think it's important to reflect on what's happened here in the last 7 years.

Record: 63-15
Conference championships: 4
Playoff trips: 3 (5-3 record)
Monon Bell record: 5-2

That's just the start of a list you could compile here...the point I want to make, and I don't think that it can be understated, is that the last 7 years of Wabash football has been one of the best 7 year runs in the 100+ year history of the program.  The only 7 year stretch that is even comparable is from 1976-1982 (60-8-1 record, national runner up in 1977).  The CC era has truly been a golden age for Wabash football and for that I think we should all be extremely grateful.

Thanks to Coach Creighton for many victories on the field and even more victories off the field in his time at Wabash.   He is an expert motivator and did things the right way; with building relationships, class and a lot of hard work.

and..... he wasn't a bad QB coach either... ;)  As it has been said before three of the top Qb's ever to play the game at Wabash, played for him.
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

There's not much I can add to what Wally and BashBro have already said. Wabash football is in better shape than it was when he took the reins. The run that the LGs have enjoyed under CC is indeed great. I've never had the pleasure of even meeting Coach Creighton but I can honestly say that I'll be a fan of whatever team he coaches. I wish Coach Creighton and his family nothing but the best in the future. He's a true Little Giant.

Well, the trips to C-ville won't be the same.  At least I hope they won't be cause Wooster wants to win.
Seriously, any NCAC fan has to have enjoyed and appreciated what Wabash has done the last seven years.
Now, what is the deal with a non-scholarship D1-AA school?  Some give scholarships and some don't?  And do they play each other?

First and most importantly, congratulations and best wishes to Coach Creighton and his family...wish nothing but the best for a quality coach and person.

But before things get out of control on this board...this is NOT Division I...it's I AA Non-Schoalrship...it's the Pioneer League, which includes teams that Wabash would whip on a regular basis...sorry to be a buzz killer to some folks...

The Pioneer League is a staging area...I don't think CC is there for long.  There are bigger things in store for CC in the near future.

I would tend to agree with you...just wonder why he would make the move there now. This probably isn't the best time or place. I have nothing but respect for the guy...wish him the best.

Isn't Appalachian(sic) State D1-AA?

what???

wally_wabash

Yes, App St. is I-AA and Drake is technically in the same classification.  However, Drake and their fellow members of the PFL don't offer athletic scholarships for football, so it's not quite the same.  PFL teams are eligible for the I-AA tournament, but only as at-large...the NCAA doesn't give the PFL an automatic bid to the dance.

App State - Is FCS scholarship...meaning all sports at the institution offer athletic scholarships including football (like Indiana State)

Drake - Is 1AA Non-Scholarship meaning all sports at the institution offer athletic scholarships EXCEPT FOOTBALL (Butler)

None of this is meant as a knock on the move....they are the same as Butler/Dayton....it is a step-up for CC....I would not go as far as calling it a staging area...I would use that phrase to describe the Pioneer league BB jobs (Matta)...Many 1AA Non-Scholarship program have to play DIII schools to find "like" competition (See Butler's schedule)...I think Drake played a few of the Wiscosin DIII teams in the recent past

In 2005 Wabash blasted Albion in the first round of the playoffs. That year Albion beat Butler. Yeah, the quality of football may not be that different. But my guess it it will be better exposure and will ultimately be a stepping stone job for him.

Not even close. It's NON-SCHOLARSHIP...they play Butler and Valpo. No disrespect to Coach Creighton...but my God, give it up...
