Another name might be Mike Ricketts, Hope's Defensive Coordinator.  He would be a good head coach, not a builder IMO; a former all-conference player for Augustana in their Stagg Bowl champion days.  Has done a great job at Hope (and when he went back to Augie for a short stint), although it would be a loss to Hope if he left.  BTW smeds, you don't think BJ would be able to continue on what CC has built, if NN decides not to take the job?   While not everyone can do so, there are many assistants and/or first time head coaches who can come into an established situation like Wabash and continue the base as well as take it to the "next level".  One never knows, however - sometimes things work out, sometimes not.

Wabash has been blessed to have a coach with the fiber & depth of CC...
Any of the NCAC programs ('cept Witt) would grab CC is a NY minute.....
He made the decision with the direction of The Almighty...CC did the right thing...and that's between God, CC and Mrs. CC...and that's good enough for me.
His impact of 7 years will never be forgotten & will last forever...
120 yrs of LG football..The CC era just added alittle more to it..you guys have something very special at your school and I don't think your coach would have left if he didn't think you could go on and keep competing at the level you have attained...
You guys Always Fight, right? In part of his quote at the top...maybe with all the spirit, pride, comradeship you exhibit..maybe CC is also saying, Now is a new era...punch the clock...go to work..and Keep Fighting. CC IS a class guy and was a true opponent...I tip my hat to him.

The video is very good....Drake has a great coach...something tells me we will hear of more great things about CC...during the press conference I am reminded of the guy in Columbus...he side-stepped the asst. coaching question..."Give me a couple days on that one"....I want to go out and get a Drake Football sweatshirt...

Makes two of us.

He really commands the room doesn't he? I think he'd make a great trial lawyer.

Well said aueagle . . . this is my take exactly.  Come what may, Wabash will be just fine.
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash

CC is now taking time to talk with the old-timer & his wife...talking football and what the guys can expect from their experience at Drake....CC met 5 of the current Bulldogs on the internet...getting to know the team....CC has mentioned snow 3 or 4 times...the feed is now gone...Go Bulldogs

This process of losing CC has been tough.....I have great respect for Chris and what he has done to build MEN....way beyond x's and o's. I am truly grateful my son has had the immeasurable experience of being at Wabash during this time with CC affecting his life....yes it has been lifechanging.

Congrats to Coach C for getting the job at Drake.  It looks as though Coach Neathery is following......

Never even thought about Coach's age. Boy, is he young.  What a future.   Not that his past is shabby!
Wooster will be watching.

I think Neatherly following Creighton actually helps.  Wabash presently has the horses in the barn for next year.  The luxury is that frosh ... unless indeed outstanding ... are not required as starters.  The issue is recruiting for the years after.  I have confidence the selection will be made very soon and will not unduly delay laying in next year's freshmen.   I suggest this change also offeres new thinking in O and D with quality material in place.

As a PS ... I believe the vote make up on the D III page simply continues what I have perceived over time as a sort of negative prejudice there toward Wabash.  It will be interesting to see how ... with the material in house and an elete 8 finish ... how far down the preseason poll next year will place us.  Good thing it is essentially meaningless.  The .500 balony is just that.

smedindy

I don't think it's negativity at all. It's two things:

A. Respect for CC
B. A realization that the D-3 football world doesn't revolve around Wabash.

If Wabash had compiled its record in the OAC, IIAC, CCIW or MIAA, then we'd definitely get national respect. However, the NCAC just doesn't command fear and loathing, unlike the purple monster in Ohio.
Wabash Always Fights!

Mr. Ypsi

smed,

Did you mean to say MIAC?  The MIAA is 0-8 in the recent playoffs!

I voted 'same as last 3 years' (closer than the other alternatives listed), but actually would have voted an option not listed: '7-3 or 8-2, but just missing a pool C'.  Obviously, any vote is premature until a HC is named, but I suspect they will take a step back (but NOT to .500!), then (hopefully) move even farther forward.
