DadofWabashWarrior-

It will take confirmation from another oldtimer or one in the know but I believe young Jack Ruddy must be related to former Little Giant John "Jack" Ruddy.  He was the starting "Giant" (Coach Navarro's terminology for defensive roverback at Wabash) for the '77 Stagg Bowl team. He wore #40 and was from Chicago. Last I checked he was still living and working in Chicago.

Haven't been here for awhile.  Sounds like a very good recruiting class.

BB16 - Tried to find Salinas on youtube.  No luck.  Do you have a link?

Is it just me, or does anyone have questions about a defensive coordinator/offensive line coach.  Just does not seem the best way to utilize the precious time during the season.  Gilbert is a great coach, but really don't know how he is going balance his time to coach both sides of the ball.

Here are two videos of him playing (Pleasanton in white) from last year.   For high school highlight videos , they are top shelf.  Hard to watch them and not get excited for football season to start.

And a 3A high school at that. That's a serious highlight. Wow. We need this guy to follow Mr. Salinas up to C-ville.  :)

Great links, bashbrother.  Thanks!  Was it old eyes, or was Salinas playing both ways against Liberty Hill?  Appeared he might have been lined up at OLB...

If this is indicative, attrition of four rhynie QBs from 2007 roster is no big thing, eh?

BashBro,

Thanks.  He indeed looks tough.  Not afraid to mix it up.  Seem to throw well too.

Your right, highlights were put together well.

I believe I heard he also played FS or S, may be wrong.

LGHistorian,
You're on the money. The new Little Giant, Jack Ruddy, is the son of Jack Ruddy of the '77 Stagg Bowl days. When his son decided on Wabash, Jack sent an email out to many of his old teammates informing us that we would be seeing him in C'ville a lot more.

From the stands:

I think Wabash is loaded unless injuries come by and a few of the guys who - by all rights should rise to the occasion - do not mature into the starting roles meant for them.

It is my understanding that ER will have an entirely new O and D scheme. Our guys began to learn it at spring drills.  Being Wabash guys, it will not take long for it to be digested and a part of them.  It will be interesting to see the first couple of games with the opposing teams having that look of: "Holy S&*t, what are they doing now?"

It is my understanding that the O line and D line will be monsters and should be able to compete qualitywise on the level of the "big boys" in the genre of Whitewater, Mount etc.  (That is ... if we do not have a wealth of injuries ... as we did last year ... even before the season started.)

The questions, I think, are the receiving corps, back up QB, and lack of speed at the RB position. I believe the LB positions will be solid along improved DB strength and cover.  At RB, again look for Evan Sobecki ... pushed by soph. Derrick Yoder and a frosh from Ft. Wayne (among others).  The receivers are a Q mark, simply because we graduated the crop of kick but reveivers from last year.  However, look for them to shortly take up where we left off as Hudson and they become familiar.  (I hope Hudson runs more, as he is definitely strong ewnough ... and while I am hoping, I hope he sheds that little "dip" habit he has when he takes the ball from center and drops back.

ER ran a no huddle at Coe ... watch for this.  Another ... "what the heck" form opposing teams as they line up their defenses.  Watch Brock Graham ... I believe he will be around the ball all year and very big in the success of the Little Giants.

Our frosh class appears to be solid ... with most of the kids we were after held and a few added ... a tribute to the "staying" coaches at Wabash, ER and the new coaches getting right after it, and the positive vibes/help from CC.

PLUS:  the Dannies come to our town.  They will be good ... I just think we will be better, be at home, and be supported.  Our first couple of games against the Little Sisters fo the Poor ... probably ... will offer the shake down for the new O and D schemes.

Be at the Chicago game (first Home game).  It should be great weather, great crowd, and great fun seeing the new O and D.

If Hudson completes 67% of his passes and has a TD:INT ratio greater than 2, then he can do a backflip when he drops back for all I care.   :)

Wally ... no need to defend Hudson.  I did not mean anything negative. I believe he will be great.

Just said ... as long as I was expressing a ":hoping thought".  Perhaps, by jetisoning the dip, he would have another second or so to look over the coverage and complete 68%. Perhaps the dip does provide some misdirection.

Expressing another hope ... I hope Evan Sobecki comes in storming and with increased speed.   If Hudson uses the run for himself a little more and Evan becomes a swift running horse along with Brock Graham being used in the action more ... backfield success - as well as passing which will benefit from this forced run attention from opposing D -  come true.

Wabco,

I'm sure he's worked this out in the off-season.  I haven't seen Hudson play, but if passed like that with a hitch in his drop....imagine what he's going to do with some reptitions without it..  As a former QB, I had so many of these little things going on, they were usually just happy that the ball was thrown  ;D

I can't help but notice that our rivals to the south have conveniently not mentioned the Princeton Review on their website.  Of course, are this and this things that they want to advertise?

But hey, at least they have good radio.   ;D

Wally -

I am traveling on business up to Columbus in a week or so...  you have always mentioned and Burger joint or some establishment that was worth the visit?

If you get a moment, drop a line.

Thanks
