Wow, now the TMQ can shaddap about Mt. Union not playing anyone. SJF? That's a stout opening game.

Anyway, it'll be a fun year. And I'm all for ditching red on red. Please, no blood clots on the field. Thanks.

I would doubt that TMQ has the first idea what a St. John Fisher is and will continue to rail on Mount Union for as long as they keep beating the Heidelbergs of the world by 60.  In a half.  I'm usually all for any coverage D-III gets nationally, but I'd really rather TMQ leave it alone if he's not going to know enough about it to write anything accurate.

More seriously, you've got to give some credit to SJF for taking the game...although the risk with respect to postseason eligibility is lessened by the fact that the game is not a regional game (at least per the notations on the schedule posted on this website).  But I think that's the way MUC is going to have to fill their non-con game...at least until the run of dominance comes to an end.  It just doesn't make sense for any team seriously thinking about the playoffs in the North region to schedule them right now.

LilGiant - saw a pic, Nike jersey, some red piping (under arm and on front), stitched numbers (on shoulder too), and stitched classic WABASH across the front above the number.  They look very sharp.

Sounds pretty spiffy. I wonder if we'll change them for home games as well. It surprises me to go Nike but only for road games. I would imagine Nike would want some kind of exclusivity.

Sounds nice.  They should sell these in the bookstore.

Newest class of Wabash Athletic Hall of Famers announced - a decided football bent to this class (just listing the football players here - total class of 8 ).

Jake Knott
Ryan Short
Greg Carlson
Kelley House

Congratulations, BB16!

Carlson gets into the hall of fame.  That makes the timing about right.  His successor and his athletic director now no longer on campus - no need for any awkward chance meetings at the hall of fame banquet.  Well deserved, Greg.

Coach Carlson was back on campus before the DePauw game 2 years ago for the induction of Fran Hollett into the Hall of Fame.  He was a class act that night and very welcome by all at the event.  I am happy for him and the College that he has been chosen.  He is starting a new Div III football program at St. Scholastica College ... which because of its shortened schedule the first year ... has an open date for the DePauw game weekend this year, thereby permitting Coach Carlson to attend the HOF event.  It would be nice if as many as can who were incolved with Coach Carlson during his football experience at Wabash could attend and congratulate him.

One other comment in response to the reference someone made to the HOF nominees being football heavy.  Respectfully, I do not believe that is true.  I know the NAWM HOF Committee makes great effort and due dilligence to nominate the best they can determine regardless of sport and that was done with this year's group.  It is a daunting task, as there are no lack of qualified scholar athletes and others, conferences change, record keeping gets better, recollections are mined ... it is really an organic process with the errors and oversights which can sometime happen.  My suggestion to all:  get involved and send into Jim Amidon or Brent Harris (as a point persons) or any NAWM Board member names of persons you believe should qualify and why.  This is of great help.

It would appear that Wally started a tsunami of comment to lead us in to fall. Well done, guys. Now that we're into uniforms, I want to vote for my favorite- the 2000-c.2004 look, with the large block capitals for "Wabash", TV numbers on the shoulder pads, and double scarlet stripes on the pants. I thought that combo was absolutely classic. I'm with Smeds on the all-red look, although that seems to be what the players wanted. Solid dark colors, top and bottom, remind me of high school uniforms. Judging from the pics in the Sporting News/Street&Smith guide everybody is doing it with some really bizarre embellishments. Thank goodness for Penn State.

I'm sure it will always be football heavy.  Just by the sure numbers of football compare to all the other sports.  For most seasons, at least 10% of the complete student body plays football.  I would guess track would be the second highest percentage of students.   As Always.

While uniforms are the topic, The Helmet Project reports that Denison will become the fourth NCAC team with white shells and red logos.  Why did the Big Red have blue helmets anyway?
