Wooster will win their opening game as they lead Waynesburg 27-6 late in the 4th quarter.  :)

Puppies win in OT 20-14!!!!!
Now they deserve to be called Terriers!
Way to go Hiram.

Li'l Giant

Way to go Hiram! And great effort from Oberlin today. Good day today from both teams.

Bishops gave-up 322 yds...w/263 on the ground...Bishops "O" had 185 yds.
OWU had 4 turn-overs (1 for a TD).
Tartens take opening K.O. for a TD..(on a 4th & 14 from the OWU 34-CMU fires a 34 yd pass in the back of the endzone for the six).
What matters is conference play...and Bishops get 2 full weeks to prepare for C.O.W.
September is key for the Red & Black.

FWIW, Drake had a tough day against Lehigh - losing 19-0 on the road. Much of the game was played in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Hanna. Having seen 6 1/2 inches of rain fall in DC today, I understand the issues.

That's right - The Puppies are coming to take the NCAC by storm! This is the year Hiram puts it all together and goes undefeated, then rolls through Alliance to slay the beast in the playoffs, and captures a national championship!!!!

Wow, I could barely keep a straight face while typing that! Regardless, nice win for Hiram. Makes this alum a little happier for having written a check for the football complex.

Witt wins by score 22-10.

Not sure what to make of the offense yet.  The finesse still bugs me, but the line play appears good and pysical.  Would hate to be the guy filling out scouting reports against the Tigers.

Will refrain from critiquing the QB, I prefer to talk to kickers, drink their Diet Dr. Peppers and eat their pimento loaf sandwiches.

Neapolitan Ice Cream has three flavors, but there are at least six different ways to stack vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream sigma a to z sigma z to a.  Witt played at least eight different olinemen by my count and in multiple positions, as was able to watch the game via the interwebz.  Might as well add mint chocolate chip.  Like the fact the multiprongers could play with either hand on the ground, but leads me to wonder which hand the center snaps with.

54 continues to entertain.  Here's a scouting report, if 54's doing jumping jacks on the field of play Witt's just made a big gainer.  That kid cracks me up, and no telling which side of the ball he'll align, west or east.  Different centers conduct him differently.

Liked the platooning at tackles, but a good one was injured late in the game.  78, I believe.  Never figured out who was called for the hold early in the fourth, and thought it appropriate the announcer didn't identify, but this seemingly did no more than fire up a bigger play.

Fans of the Ishpording offenses would recognize Olivet's multiple motion I sets.  The Tiger defense was stingy, but not sure the Comets won't benefit from playing their two tailbacks in the Grove-Hampshire looks...  shoot even Mercury Morris and Joe Kiick had Larry Csonka.  Don't know how much of their 30's series single wing guard play remains, but those were my thoughts regarding Tiger line personnel in the mentioned era and Olivet's own run proclivities and similar personnel in recent history.  Didn't get a firm focus on the Olivet Oline as the blood was in the water by the time I tuned in, but maybe their present personnel would suit lineplay more similar to that of the Powers-Booker era.

(Not to jump around too much, but thought Anderson over in the HCAC might've met with more success last year had they found a way to get their all american on the field the same time as their other tail, Fonzi)

Olivet is a solid team, give this fresh QB a few more games under center under fire and they're contending.  Lot of situations, field position etcetera left the yute facing jet alignment by the ends, even with tight end formations.

Solid outing, not dominance but a good initial value problem.

USEE,

Waiting on Wally's full report & writeup.  Heard some good things though but still work to do...  End of the 1st half...1's vs 1's...Bash was up 13-7.  Bash D caused 3 turnovers and Hudson had 2 TD passes.  Final was 27-20 Wheaton.  They played a game format (full go) with 12 minute quarters.

Impressed with Oberlin's effort, nice job.  Decent showing by other NCAC teams too.

Looking forward to Wally's report.

1 week away from Little Giants opener....WAF!

Just some facts....

"I think if Wooster can hold Waynesburg's Heller under 200 yds rushing...it'll be a moral victory for the Scotts. Heller led the nation in rushing last year as a freshman and he has his whole O-Line back. If the Waynesburg team bus has a wreck and several players get broken legs...then Wooster has a chance.  Unless...Sheppard and company can also run the ball and keep Heller off the field. Go Scots!"

SCORE: Wooster 27- Waynseburg 6

WAYNESBURG WEBSITE... During Saturday's game, Wooster held the All-American to just 99 yards rushing on 22 carries and no touchdowns. It is the first time since Heller came to Waynesburg that he has been held under 100 yards.

CC will get things turned around there.   If my research is correct, I think that was the first game that a CC led offense has ever been shutout.   There won't be many of those.  Go Bulldogs!

Back to NCAC thoughts -

Impressive game by Oberlin - Mangan moved this offense efficiently and the entire team played tough.

Denison - Barnes (Qb) has a ton of skill and will put up some numbers this year with his arm and his legs.

Earlham - Made it a game in Terre Haute.

Wooster - Great first win.

OWU -  Without experience at the QB position, your offense will struggle.   CMU is a good football team with size and speed.

Hiram - Great win.

Barnes has already put up these numbers:

Good one.  I hope Mount Union doesn't overlook regular season planning for Terrier Invasion.  :)

Medicine Man...sounds like a great effort from COW. So glad COW started out their season with a big W...and for the rest of the winners in the conference...great job.
I was surprised by the Kalamazoo/Denison score...thought it would have been closer. I also thought the OWU score would be closer.

Go Wabash, Beat Denison.

Any injuries from the Wheaton scrimmage?
