Speaking of attendance...the Wabash stat sheet said there were only 475 in attendance at Kenyon. For anyone who attended...could that be true? Yikes.

DagarmanSpartan

That's about what the attendance at Case football games was back when I was school during the early 90s.

Now, they average over 1,800 a game in a new 2,400 seat stadium.

WAF78 - admission at the Kenyon game was free so not sure how they could have a count...

Congrats to the Wabash "Red Squad" for defeating DePauw last night 28-14 in Greendingle.

Hoping Sobecki is back this weekend which would be a great addition to the running game.

Is Gheny's QB a pocket guy or a roll out guy?  Surprised by the huge point spread but know nothing about Westminster and Juniata.

wally_wabash

16-
Had to go with a big line on the Gheny game to try and get some balance in the action.  Juniata has won 4 games since 2004 and Westminster got rolled up 62-27 by Heidelberg earlier this year.  Also, Allegheny was outplayed statisically (first downs, yards from scrimmage, TOP) by Oberlin last week...if RV could keep the ball off the turf, Oberlin would have had a good chance to win.  The Gators have been pretty underwhelming so far in 2008.

Updated national stats...notable Wabash team rankings:
#2 Passing Efficiency
#3 Scoring Offense
#3 Kickoff Returns
#4 Total Offense
#6 Passing Offense

Notable Individual Rankings:
Kody Lemond - #1 receiving yards/game, T-5 receptions/game, T-6 scoring
Matt Hudson - #2 Passing Efficiency, #7 Total Offense

You know its a slow week in the Great Lakes Region (Around the Region) when one of the 2 games of the week is Trine University at 0-4 Hope...?  WOW.  I cannot wait to see who wins that one!!!   ;D

Pat Coleman

Hope has gotten swept in non-conference play before and still won the MIAA title, so it's not so outlandish a pick at all.

I'd like to note that the Scots are 3rd in Scoring Defense in the NCAA updated stats......i know the schedule thus far hasn't been the toughest, but it's still impressive. ;D

wally_wabash

Oddly enough, the #1 Scoring Defense in NCAA D3 is the OWU offense.   :D

Hiram, good luck this week.  Would love to see your success continue.
Get pictures of your players to the NCAC, so when one of your players is "Player of the Week", the NCAC can put them on their website.  northcoast.org  Great website.
If you are going to win some games and turn the program around, be prepared for honors like "Player of the Week".
Good job!
Go Scots!  Do not let up this week.

WAF78

Congrats to Kody LeMond for being named to the D-III team of the week. Wabash needs to take the next step forward against the Gheny Gators this week in C'ville. I think Hudson will have a field day through the air, should the offensive coordinator call that kind of game. I'm so glad we're running more...but Gheny's pass defense seems suspect after giving up so many yards through the air to Oberlin. With all the receivers we lost from last year...our new receiving corp is sure filling the shoes. LeMond, Rode, Chambliss, Graham, Sorensen, Liska, etc. are doing a great job.
Wabash has cut their penalty total in half from game one...and once I saw that they were running a no-huddle offense, I understood why so many game 1 penalties...at least on the offensive side.  It should be a fun game at Hollett this Saturday.

FYI...Here's the Wabash game summary for Saturday against Allegheny.

Congrats to Matt DeGrand (Wooster/ LB) as well for joining LeMond on the D3 Team of the Week. Eric Keyes (Wooster/ LB) as well took this honor in the first week for Wooster. Here's Woo's game summary for Earlham:

Pat,

It appears from the D3football.com standings that the Denison/Wabash opener didn't count as a conference win for Wabash - but did count as conference loss for Denison.

Actually, if you look at the Wabash schedule it's the Kenyon game. I'll get that fixed.

I know we've got a lot of lopsided matchups this week but geez...this place is quieter than Wrigley Field last night.

Hey LG...what happened to the Victory Haiku™?  I think that needs to be resurrected this week.
