I like trout.  Particularly trout almondine.  But the water, brook stream or otherwise, really isn't cold enough in Indiana...

so, on a lighter note, when do we find out what kind of fish is added to the stringer?  any suggestions?

As much as it pains me.....I'd suggest a chinook or coho salmon......fish that die after spawning. Those pretty much depict the 2nd half of the game and for that matter, the fact that the peak of the season ,so far, was the the 1st game.....it's all been set to glide after that.

Being an eternal optimist, maybe the Case game will be an epiphany and we'll decide to get serious about competing. Of course, it's always a lot harder to predict a positive outcome when you have utilized your time unwisely and now have to cram for the test. Outcomes are generally significantly better when you have diligently prepared bit by bit over time.

For the game, Wooster had more first downs (20-18) and outgained Case 376-373, but lost the turnover battle 2-0.

This is what is so frustrating... that and the play calling and time management.

Even though allowing 28 points, D still looked pretty good. They are on the field a lot not because they don't do their job, they just have to come back out so quickly.

Here's a stat for Wooster's D.  CWRU punted 7 times.  They punted but 3 times in each of the preceeding 4 games.

At least it is not as hard to lose to a good team.    Still hard but not as hard. Also not as hard to lose to nice people who don't rub it in your face.

Again Congrats to you.

Great stuff from the Wabash/Wash U. boxscore.  Wabash goes over 200 yards rushing for the third straight game, racks up 499 yards of offense, holds the Bears to just 14 rushing yards and 8 first downs.  Lemond had another monster day...after an iffy first half, the LGs locked it down and took care of business.

Some other musings...
- Not sure what happened to Wooster.  I watched most of the first half and after the first drive Wooster appeared to be in decent shape.  Holter's fumble deep in Spartan territory was unfortunate, but I would have thought that the Scots had a good shot if they were able to keep the score close through the first half.
- 33-7?  Really, Obies??  This one stings.
- I couldn't have been more wrong about Allegheny bouncing back this week.  Yikes.  Really, the UAA is killing the NCAC.  That's not a good thing.

It's Witt week....let the games begin.   :)

Woo's defense has played tough all season. That's what makes it so hard to stomach the game plan that was institued in the 2nd half. There is simply no way to spin that other than what it looked like: deciding to concede the game, just keep the score respectable, and "lose pretty". It's the furthest thing from the Scottish tradition. The Scottish Berserkers faced unbelievable odds at times........there's 10 of us and 500 of them.....no problem, was their attitude. I don't think "defeat" was even a word in their vocabulary and "surrender" was an unknown concept.

Question:

Is this the best O-Line Wabash has had in the past 10 years?  I know there has been some good ones.  Whenever your team, is ringing up close to 1,000 yards of rushing in 5 games, QB sacks have been kept at a minimum and your QB's completion percentage is around 70%, the beef upfront is kicking some butt and should get some serious credit.
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

It is indeed Witt Week! And nary a post from Springfield since their QB broke his arm. Its like the old Westerns- "its mighty quiet out there." "Yup- a little TOO quiet."
Wabash fans don't need to hype-the last 2 weeks speak for themselves as polished performances, particularly in the response to Wash U's lightning quick 2 scores just before the end of the half. They responded with a drive that ate up the rest of the half for a field goal and started the second with a 3 and out. Great response to what could have been scary. The games shall be played!

Agree.  I think it starts with the shortest Wabash O lineman out there, center Tony Neimeyer.  He works his bottom off and is the leader for the others.  I know his measure of success is when he and the others can be spelled by the #2 and #3 guys.

This is my first opportunity to post following yesterday's game.  Wow.  I did not expect that outcome.  Good job Spartans.

Solid road win for the LG's today.  Looking forward to seeing the stats.

Smeds - another great pick in your pick'ems going against Wabash...nice job.

Thought the spread was a bit too high, that's all. I was wrong. My 3-year old tells me that all of the time. What ya gonna do? Like my life revolves around it.

BTW, my girls are becoming Minnesotans. They didn't want to go brush their teeth last night since the Wild / Bruins game was on. Sacre bleu! And Katie always roots for "MIN" on the TV, even against the Colts!

I don't know, Pat - allowing them to be Viking fans might be border-line child abuse!  It took a bogus pass interference call for them to beat the pathetic pussycats today. ;D

Will be real interesting this week with WashU coming to town.  They are a pretty good team, in spite of Wabash game.  As others have said, the defense has played well. From August practices, the new defensive coaches have instilled a fire lacking for awhile.  Offense is puzzling.  Was not at Saturday's game, but it is hard to believe they really shut it down, but ScotLass said so. My question is why?  Were they working on something or trying to keep injured players from getting hurt worse?  Just do not get it. Is Sheppard out for just a couple games or longer?
A loved one went to WashU, so hope my WashU gear does not clash with my "Black and Gold!"
Wishing you were here to see this Mr.Roy Lockett.
