As others have said, the defense has played well. From August practices, the new defensive coaches have instilled a fire lacking for awhile.  Offense is puzzling.  Was not at Saturday's game, but it is hard to believe they really shut it down, but ScotLass said so. My question is why?  Were they working on something or trying to keep injured players from getting hurt worse?  Just do not get it. Is Sheppard out for just a couple games or longer?

1) Since you weren't there, I do appreciate your vote of confidence in "Scotlass said so". The humble part of my nature does require me to disclose that......I have been wrong before.....a couple of times ;D
2) "My question is why?"......refer back to my wikipedia sized entry laying out my thoughts on that
3) IF the 2nd half was indicative of "working on something", my suggestion would be......danger, danger, danger, abandon, abandon, abandon
4) It was a clean game with no injuries
5) "Just do not get it".......you have plenty of company there my friend ;)
6) Shepp will be back.....soon

Sorry fellas, I agree.

It is WITT WEEK!!!  Bigger fish to fry.....

Interesting on Witt's QB situation and a tough call for Coach Fincham...who do you go with?  Who gives them the best shot to win?  Either way, I think Bash stops the run and the pressure will fall directly on the QB to make plays...should be interesting.  Will also be fun to watch 2 of the best young WR's in the conference...Freshman - Josh McKee vs. Sophomore - Kody Lemond.

I did negelect to mention that the atmosphere at the Case game was a true credit to D3 football. Their fans, including a large number of students, were loudly supportive of their team without being obnoxious. They showed how to win with class....... ;)

Even if the Tigers manage to make it a close game, their place kicking woes will make it hard for them to win.

I don't think that this Wittenberg quarterback issue is one that should be glossed over.  Luckenbill is nice, but he's not Grove or Murray or the kind of guy that is going to carry Witt to a win over a team like Wabash by himself.  The quarterback is going to have to make plays on Saturday.  Here we are at game 6, and Witt seems to not have a handle on who the quarterback is going to be.  Any Wabash fans who care to remember 2004 will know that this is not a situation conducive to championshp football.

This season gets real on Saturday.  To date, the LGs have done what they are supposed to have been doing.  I think we all knew the front half of the Wabash schedule was Charmin-soft.  I like every Wabash game obvioulsy, but it's hard to get too fired up for games against Chicago and Kenyon.  Even the Washington game was hard to get too crazy about (non-conference, non-region, biggest game of the year on the horizon, etc.).  I'm fired up!

I'll break down the game more completely later in the week, but there are about 764 reasons to watch this game on Saturday...placekicking isn't one of them.  Not exactly the forté of either team to this point in the season.

In your opinion, where does this year's Wabash O-line rank?  One point with regards to them, the same 5 have started every game this season - its been a long time since that has happened.  (knock on wood)

We knew coming in to this season our strength would be on both fronts...through 5 games thus far, they have not disappointed.  We'll see if that continues this Saturday.  Our front 4 will have to get pressure on the QB...

Witt had 4 personal foul penalties vs. Earlham.

And the Fighting Quakers had 3 themselves!

Your insinuations are less than founded with this Tiger team, BB16.

Personal fouls are never to be lauded, but take a look at the situations.  Three offsetting personal fouls shared between THE QUAKETM and Tigers: a goalline situation, a kickoff and a long Earlham pass play.

The fourth personal foul comes on the fourth to last play of a very much decided game.

It's tough to say.  The easy knee-jerk reaction would be to say that this line is as good or better than any that we've seen recently.  The quarterback is staying on his feet, the running game is rolling better than we've seen in a long time...Wabash has had some big, strong O-lines over the last handful of years.  I think that the ability to do what we're seeing this year was there, but it just wasn't part of the game plan.  This group is really good that's for sure.

Talking about the size and strength of the line brings me to this:  Isn't it amazing how doggone big these guys are even at D3 level?  I've been going to Wabash games since 1976.  John "Porter" Pierce is my cousin.  He was 6'2 250 back when others were 215-225 on the o-line.  When I graduated it was Urbanski at center at a then massive 270+, Kinniry & Gregory at guards both between 210-215, and Olson and Chambers at tackle, 235 and 245 each respectively in 1985.  Now look at them!  Taller and heavier, but just as fast as those guys, or faster.  Same thing on the d-line.  And these guys do a heck of a job!!  And it's not just Wabash, obviously.  A lot of these kids would be D1 prospects 20 years ago!  It just never ceases to amaze me!!

Good grief.  The Witt / CMU game (Oct. 25) will be aired nationally on ESPNU.  Witt should be focusing on getting ready for "prime time" instead of this little game coming up this weekend.  ;)
