Scotty:

Why don't you give it a rest.  That type of activity occurs across the country, and unfortunately even at your favorite school.  The fact that other schools or fortunate enough to not suffer such a tragedy once, even twice within a one year span is amazing.  I think it is in extreme poor taste for you to raise such issues.  I hope that you never find yourself in a situation where a loved one, or even someone you know makes a poor decision like these kids did.  Of course, if you found yourself in such a situation, maybe then you would finally understand how ignorant you sound.

Back to Football.

Anyone who watched Woo play this weekend:   What do you think the difference was from the week before in the offense?   Another week to come together?  Better play calling?

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Okay, Now I am really insulted you called me Scotty!  I would never ever make a post like that.

I think Scotty is a parent and how a parent could seemingly "enjoy" this tragedy is beyond belief. It could happen anywhere.

I feel terribly for the family!  This has nothing to do with the fact it is Wabash, as I said it could be anywhere. Much as we all have our differences I know none of these Wabash posters would ever do what you are doing Scotty!  Actually they are usually the first on the board wishing families well and sending their prayers.

I just cannot believe anyone who is a parent could make these posts.

No problem...

And..... a lot was better play calling and just a great day. Things went our way and the team was fired up. Just an all around good day.

New poll is posted...Wabash stays at #6 and picks up six points to 481.  If my math is right, Wabash's average place on a ballot is just about #6 so we shouldn't expect much more movement upward unless somebody in front the LGs loses.

I'm also curious how much pressure they'll bring on defense. The Witt pressure was a big part of what had our O not being effective, even when we weren't turning the ball over.

Holter, Francescange and Flagg had huge days on Saturday.   I remember watching the Case game and seeing Flagg and being impressed.

Holter had 400 yards of Total Offense on Saturday!

Wabash needs to get into the film room tomorrow and make some adjustments.  The Witt game may have been all a question of which team was playing with more intensity.  Sometimes that makes a huge difference ('07 Bell Game)

BB:

I wish I knew the answer to your question.  I did not attend the Case game.  However, as I mentioned in a previous post, I saw a huge difference in enthusiasm between the Denison (the only other game I viewed which can give comparison) and WashU game.  In WashU, the team had a fire that was definitely missing at Denison.  Guys flew around and had fun.  After big plays, guys were whooping and yelling and congratulating each other.  I saw guys in the WashU game lowering their shoulder to run through a defender to try to get a few extra yards.  I saw guys that, when near the sidelines, rather than stepping out of bounds, they cut back in and hit someone or danced for more yards.

As said, there is still room for improvement.  Bobbled passes which resulted in INTs (which also resulted in 13 points) is the first I can think of.  However, only one of these INTs were taken to the house for a quick 6.  The first INT resulted in WashU driving  with a short field for 6.  However, the D needs to step up and win the sudden change.  At any point, the O may give up the ball and require the D to step in and D up.

I think the Scots will play a great game this Saturday.  I will not predict a win, but Bash definitely has a tough game ahead.  With that said, if Woo does not play as they did yesterday, they will experience the same feeling WashU had last night.  Namely, sitting on an 9-10 hour bus ride trying to think what went wrong and what they could have done differently.  Trust me, I have been there!

You think if #4 Wheaton loses to #7 North Central, and if Wabash beats Wooster, that Wabash would move up, or do you think North Central would leapfrog the LG's and Wabash would remain at #6?  I would lean toward the latter scenario.

And may I add, it was wonderful hearing the pipes again!

It's hard to say.  Given the point differential between Wabash and NCC, I'd be inclined to say that NCC probably jumps Wabash if they win.

Agreed.  Flagg was one of those I was impressed with lowering all 5'7 (if this is indeed his height) and 165 pounds into a defender twice his size and flat out running through him.  He is a young man after my own heart!

Step one for Witt was stopping the run.  They stopped the run and had Wabash playing from long down and distance situations.  From there, they threw the kitchen sink at Hudson.  Wooster will have the same challenge.

Macleod's had computer problems all weekend.  Suspect a conspiracy by the LG hackers, sequestering my mojo.   :o  ::)  :D

That's the Witt defense have been waiting to hear from.  Five turnovers is a solid outing and the rush numbers look stifling.

Will get the other extreme this week in the CMU Tartan, run first, run often offense.  With that being said, can assume Coach Erdelyi is busy dialing up Bounce motion, Wham and pass plays to go along with the staple direct, indirect and misdirect run game.

Now we get to find out how hard this Tiger team really is.

Was not at last week's game, but was at yesterday's.  Wooster's offense, in spite of the numbers, did not impress me that much.   They played well, but the defense was fantastic.  I thought WashU would give them a better game. But Wooster's defense gave the O oppportunity after opportunity.  They were flying around the ball, screaming and hollering and the new defensive coach in particular, stays in their face the whole game.
Highlight as always was Wooster's  "gold shoe kicker,"(only his kicking foot) who now has a matching gold backpack, I guess for his shoes.
A nice white oak tree planted on the hill leading down to the field for the late Roy Lockett.  A number of former players came up and spoke to the family, as it was homecoming and a lot of alumni back to visit.  Very nice.
