Medicine Man,

I didn't miss Black n Gold's post on 10/21 at 11:10 A.M. - "One thing I worry about is the loss of Brian Swan at safety. We have some good backups but his presence on the field will be missed."

Bashbacker

You see I did miss it.....I have other things in life than checking every post on this board.

But I guess I should have known you would never make a mistake -

Note he didn't say more important things - at least his priorities are in order!

My bad, MORE IMPORTANT THINGS. I should have added that. I love football, but no it is not my life nor is this board.

I have no idea why you guys have an issue with me. I understood the issue with Scotty.

I even said some nice things about the Bash boys.

No one can even say anything like, "Swan was out against Wash U." No wonder no other teams post.

fijidoc

Thanks BB16 for update

I will be up there this weekend to see the game in person.

Hopefully I will run into him and see how he is doing and see if he thinks he will get worked in to the mix.

Can't see him doing much this week except maybe special teams.  Other possibility would be in the red zone to try and throw him a jump ball in the corner.

Pat, I usually do.... another mistake, not my day, at least now on the D3 board. But I do have that "Other life".

I am glad I don't point out all the spelling errors, etc. on this board.

Forget politics, Wabash men can debate and discuss beer 24/7.

I guess I'm in a Stella mood right now - draft of course in one of THOSE glasses. If savoring bottles, a nice Porter is my favorite.

Smeds-good to see that you have recovered your style-we missed you. RE: beer----I like Old Peculiar, if I can lay my hands on it. I see these people walking out of the store with a 30 pack of Busch Like and say to them, "why bother; regular Busch tastes like dishwater"

Looks like it is shaping up to be a very similar year to last year between Wabash and DePauw.  Wabash is playing their usual cream puff schedule and will show up undefeated and in the top 5 to 10.  DPU got its annual losses to Millsaps and Trinity out of the way.  No matter how you cut it, you have to admit that Wabash schedule is pretty bad.  Out of conference, those teams are a combined .413 winning percentage while DPU's schedule is .650.  So, this sets up to be eerily similar to last year.  I am looking forward to a great game in C'Ville.  They seem to match up well.  Wabash's D is down from a year ago and DPU can't run the ball.  I think both passing games are similar.  DPU's D is about the same as it was last year.  I know the Wabash people don't want to look too far ahead with powerhouses Wooster, Oberlin, and Hiram on the schedule.  See you in three weeks.

The word on Sheppard last week at the game (Wash U)..........was that we MAY NOT see him for the rest of the year. Meaning, he will be back next year with Holter and company for what should be a very exciting season. The very talented freshman class will have a year under their belts as well as Luke McCann back from his season ending injury. I do believe though if Wooster were able to pull off a W tomorrow, Sheppard would try his best to get back on the field in hopes of bringing home a Conference Championship and the first playoff game since Sutton and Schafer (If things go as planned).

???

You serious? If you believe this defense isn't better than last year's version then you haven't watched a nanosecond of Wabash football this year.

Wish Sheppard a speedy recovery regardless of tomorrow's outcome - personally prefer to see teams at full strength when an important game is on the docket.

Think I might be more concerned with Rhodes before the smack begins with the cave men.  I'd also re-check your stat sheets - the only stats that Wabash D is behind last year on, YTD, is TFL and sacks and the cream puffs in early November should permit some padding.  DPU, on the other hand, is well behind their 2007 pace in every bloody category?  :D

Now back to Wooster, and concern for play-off berths - something you needn't worry about...again.   ;D

QuoteWabash's D is down from a year ago

Fripp...Wabash's D is the best it has been in years and years. Forget the statistics...which are good....they are playing with fire in their gut...they hit hard, are aggressive and they rush the passer. When you catch the ball, they make you wish you didn't catch it. Last week, the O gives up the ball 5 times and Wittenburg...not a slouch team....scores on zero of those turnovers. So...Wabash's D is about 100% better than it was last year...and in years past.
Now...having said that...I agree with you. Wabash's schedule is cream puff...due to the extraordinarily weak conference we play in and  the weak non- conference games we play. So...that does put us at a disadvantage. And...though some on here will vehemently disagree with me...I am of the opinion that in the last few years, the DePauw game has been downgraded from what it used to be...at least from the Wabash side. If we go undefeated in our conference...then, like last year, DPU will have the mental edge...because it doesn't matter if we win against DPU or not...we still go to the playoffs. And for some, that is just fine... However, with the older guard...even for those of us who played in the playoffs...the DPU game is the most important game of the year. So...like you...I think the Monon Bell game is going to be a knock-down, drag-out battle...war...I will be there...remembering what it was like before Wabash became Dannieized in the way they handle the game...and rooting for the team in Red.
One last thing...Wooster is not a bad ball club. Though they were trounced by Case, they have the ability to play good football. And...Wooster will be playing for a shot at the conference championship at Wabash....as will the Little Giants. I think this week will be a very telling game for what kind of team Wabash really has. Last week at Witt they showed they could still win when the played a horrible game.

Just a side note...in 1977...Wabash plays in the Stagg Bowl and finishes second in the country...and in playing DePauw at Blackstock that year...Wabash throws 6 interceptions...a Wabash record...and still wins 30-6. Good teams find a way to win even when they play exceptionally rotten.

I doubt Sheppard is doing much, if any, thinking about participating next year. I'll put my money on him doing all he possibly can to continue making an impact this season with the rest of his senior class. I'm a big believer in the power of positive thinking and I am sending all those positive vibes his way..... ;)

I don't know about you guys but here in Ohio this game is Woo's season, hopefully you guys are just over-looking the Scots (As you all talk about lights and how high you'll be ranked, blah, blah, blah.) You gotta beat Wooster first and trust me, they are and will be ready! ;D

Oh, I'm sure the players are fully aware of what is at stake this weekend.  Think the seniors don't want to close out their careers with a fourth consecutive conference championship and a third trip to the playoffs?  My hunch is that they do and they all know that they're 60 minutes of good football away from making that happen.

I agree.  I don't think that any of the LG's are planning on mailing this one in.  I expect a solid 60 minutes on Saturday.

I agree with Wally and firstdown.  I think the Witt game gave Wabash a bit of an eye opener or a wake-up call.  I think, had Wabash won convincingly over Witt, you might expect a bit of overconfidence creeping into the heads of the Lil Giants.  But, having to eek out that win last Saturday will only heighten Wabash's sense for how important this game is IMO.

That said, I'm also encouraged by the reports out of the Scot's camp about how fired up and ready they are to come out and shock the world on Saturday!  I have to admit, at the start of the season I would not have guessed that Wooster would still be very much alive for the conference championship by the time this game rolled around, let alone with a very realistic shot at pulling off the upset!  Here's hoping Wooster can be the streak busters tomorrow by ending Wabash's streaks of consecutive conference wins and consecutive home wins!!!

What are the rules when it comes to applying for medical redshirts?  Would he even be eligible seeing that he started 3 games this season?

Also, what exactly is Sheppard's injury?  I don't recall ever seeing what it was he injured, but seeing that he might be out for the season, it must be pretty serious.  I'll add my positive thinking in hopes that he can make it back down the stretch!  You always hate to see guys go down in their senior years.  I'm sure he's doing everything it takes to get himself back onto that football field!
