Schwam-

If we look at last week's rankings:

NORTH REGION
1. Mount Union 6-0 7-0 (win over JCU)
2. North Central (Ill.) 7-0 7-0 (win over IWU)
3. Otterbein 7-0 7-0 (win over Marietta)
4. Wabash 6-0 7-0 (win over Oberlin)
5. Trine 7-0 7-0 (win over Albion)
6. Case Western Reserve 6-0 7-0 (win over Chicago)
7. Wheaton (Ill.) 6-1 6-1 (loss to Elmhurst)
8. Franklin 5-1 6-1 (win over RHIT)
9. Adrian 5-1 6-1 (win over Alma)
10. Rose-Hulman 7-1 7-1 (loss to RHIT)

It's safe to say that  RHIT and Wheaton will fall out of these rankings.  Wooster, as a 2-loss regional team, probably needs some more teams to lose to get in, although the Scots do have sexy SOS numbers.  Wittenberg with just one regional loss may be an attractive choice.  Aurora is a possibility as well, but Aurora's SOS numbers are very poor and they don't have any wins over ranked teams to fall back on.

I will be very interested to see if Wheaton's inability to show that last week's game vs. NCC was a fluke will cause some reordering in these rankings (or some votes to shift from NCC in the top 25).

One more thing...LG will be happy to hear that the trophy presentation was Queen-free this time around.   :D

I noticed the lack of music on the broadcast. This pleases me. As does the resurrection of the red-on-white home uniform combo.

Well, some pep band music would be nice  . . .
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash

Another possibility would be 6-2 Augustana, though I suspect they will be 11th or 12th.

As long as they weren't playing Queen. The original is bad enough. The Pep Band version....*shudder*.  :D

Agree with Schwami - the Little Giants need to resurect the pep band.

Other NCAC scores today:

Wooster 35, Allegheny 21
Wittenberg 23, Denison 0
OWU 31, H iram 7
Earlham 49, Kenyon 42

How about the Quakers?  After starting 0-5, Earlham has ripped off three straight wins and they have two winnable games left against OWU and Denison, both at home.  That's a pretty good story if Earlham can finish .500.

Earlham at .500?  Impossible!  Inconceivable!  Good job by the Quakers if they get it done!

Pep Band! Pep Band! Pep Band!

I remember President Salter on the snare...

My take on the game was blow-out!  Sitting in the stands watching it was unreal.  It was one of the most one-sided affairs I have seen in Hollett for awhile.  I couldn't believe how few players Oberlin had.  Kind of sad, actually.  Their few fans had little to cheer.

Isn't "Earlham at .500" mentioned in Revelations as a Sign of the Apocalypse? ;)

What next - Hiram in Salem?? ;D

Someone needs to find out whether President White plays an instrument.

Assuming its not the oboe or xylophone, we will build the band around him.

It's a moral imperative.

QuoteHoffman and Emmick do a great job announcing with both of them being employed by the college and both being former football players.

I wholeheartedly agree that Emmick does a great job and is a huge asset to the College, but he is NOT a former football player, neither while at Wabash nor at his alma mater Indianapolis Arlington . He spent his four years at Wabash in the booth for WNDY covering every sporting event imaginable for the college. He probably spent just as much time at Wabash on his broadcasting as he did on his studies, which means he spent a lot of time on both. Great guy, but not an athlete. He's just a sports nut.

I think he even won the Senior Award of Merit on something like that for his work.

USee -

Do you think the way the Thunder lost to N. Central last week had an impact on the way they played today?   Lack of focus?

I think they had a lack of focus. players and coaches alike. when you turn the ball over 6 times you aren't going to beat many teams. The turnovers were bad. 2x a defensive player just pulled the ball out of a Wheaton reciever's hands. 1 time the WR had a db beat deep and the qb underthrew the ball. Another was ittersagen fumbling a punt return. This was a bad "program loss" in my  mind. The players were not prepared and the coaches were not prepared. Ittersagen, who is supposed to be all world, was beaten badly on 2 key plays that resulted in touchdowns(in addition to the fumbled punt return). If your best player is getting beat by inferior talent, something is wrong.

Congratulations to Holter and Shep for reaching bigtime milestones in the win over Allegheny last saturday- Holter broke Tony Sutton's school record for total yards in a season- Holter already has 2,366 yards for the year- and Shep became the 6th RB in school history to rush for over 3,000 yards in his career! With two more games left we might see some more records going down as well, given the way the offense has turned it up the second half of the season.

Unless there's a true cataclysmic event, here's my 'best guess as to the North.

I think the NCAA will move a team from the South thanks to Wheaton (though W & J's loss may upset THAT apple cart. Who knows...)

1. Mt. Union
2. North Central
3. Wabash
4. Trine or Case(Does Trine have a facility to host?)
5. Case or Otterbein
6. Otterbein or Adrian
7. Witt  or  Trine
8. Aurora

Capital, John Carroll, Augie, Wheaton, RHIT very much outside shots. A 2-loss Adrian doesn't make it, nor a 2-region loss Witt or Wooster.
Wabash Always Fights!
