My first post since last week.....
First, good luck to Wabash in the playoffs.  You are a good team.  A few victories will justify what kind of team DePauw is as well.
DePauw had a shot yesterday at getting in.  Apparently, Walker received a few calls last week from the selection committee.  When I left my son on Sunday, he had just received an email from his D-Coordinator saying they might go out West.  Anyway, all for naught.  I was already looking at flights to I don't no where.
Someone posted why can't DePauw do that to Trinity and Millsaps.  I have no idea.  I don't think the coaches do either.  The Trinity game this year was winnable.  Millsaps is definitely in the top 2 or 3 in the country.  They are talented and well-coached.  Both lose a lot of seniors and DePauw returns 17 including all the skill positions and 9 of 11 on defense.  Maybe next year.
I would like to rub it in a bit, but I won't.  I am exhausted from the weekend and now have a head cold.  The only story I have is when I walked onto the field after the DePauw students surrounded the team, I made my way to Wabash side of the field.  I thought it was strange that the coaches and cheerleaders (is that what you call those guys in the striped jumpers ???) just stood there.  Anyway, as I was waiting for my son to finish the handshake line, I looked at one of the Wabash cheerleaders who meekly, but loudly said, "Get off of our field!!".  I thought that was funny.  Then he turned around and walked away.
Good luck against Case.  That's a pretty good draw.  After that, the next game looks good too.

I had some people express frustration at DPU's students being on the field after the game...and I had to disagree.  Put yourself in their shoes.  First, they just won Monon Bell which is a bigger deal than can be accurately described here.  Second they just beat, in a big way, an undefeated and top-three ranked team.  If you don't get to celebrate on the field with your team after winning the biggest game of the year and against a top ranked team to boot, when do you get to celebrate on the field?

I didn't have a problem with DPU's students being on the field.  They earned it, they didn't tear things down, and aside from probably a few lubed up students yelling some unsavory things to players or other fans on the other sideline, it looked pretty civil to me.  I think that's totally fair.  We as Wabash fans have been on fields before after big games and it probably ticked those teams off (it's been done at DPU a few times, we did it in Springfield when we beat #4 Witt in 2002 for the first time).  Sometimes it's perfectly ok to get on the field and Saturday was one of those times.

Wabash vs. Case Western...

Who is making the trip?

Case starts 2 Frosh OL...can they protect Whalen.  Our pressure was big in last year's game.  If we shut down their run...we need to create 3rd & longs.

Hudson needs to rebound.  He played well last year at Case, I have to think he'll do the same.  I think we pound the rock and I would love to see Sobecki get over 20 carries behind a motivated Wabash O-line.

Hudson posted a blog entry Sunday evening.  Kid seems to have his head in the right place.

Looking forward to some redemption in Cleveland.

Regrettably Case Field has bleachers only on one side of the field.

While individual results will vary and I only saw positive quotes from Whitwater fans last year, I found the following on two separate boards:

"Wabash fans visiting MUC...total fools"

"Wabash has as devoted and loyal following as anyone.  Last year several 'enthusiastic' younger supporters gave some Spartan parents more than they were expecting to experience at a DIII playoff game.

Those events took away from a very exciting game on the field.

Let's hope those idiots stay home and true, passionate football fans make the trip this time."

I know Wabash has plenty of the latter, so I second the last wish, recalling the proverbial apple-barrell metaphor.

You know who gets all of the attention in these message boards?  The "'enthusiastic' young supporters" that inevitably are too loud, maybe say some things they wish they could take back five years later, and are always annoying to the friends and family of whichever random player happens to be targeted for that round of heckling.  Those people amount to about 2% of the fans that go to these games.  If you're bothered by those handful of fans, you're not paying enough attention to the game.  It's easy enough to just ignore those fans.  And I'm not talking about just those 2% of Wabash fans....EVERY team has that 2% of fans.

They may only have one side of bleachers but they line the entire field (goal post to goal post) and are very nice........now with that being said, when Woo went up there in week 5 when both teams were undefeated, the place was jam packed. They do have room for additional seating if they needed to add it in the endzone. I don't know how Wabash travels (I'm assuming pretty darn well) but you may want to get there very early (maybe even pitch a tent) if you want a seat. The atmosphere at Case is very nice and I'm sure you will enjoy your experience. If you guys are interested, Case has posted several games on youtube this year so check it out. 8)

Does anyone know if Case will/can broadcast the video web stream for this Saturday's game like they did last year?

Last year the administration bought tickets for the students.  No announcement yet for this year.

I agree.  We routinely go onto their field when Wabash takes the Bell in Greencastle.   You have to take the losses, and all the pain that comes with it..... in order to fully savor the inevitable victories later.   It is two sides of the same coin.

I'll be making the trip to Cleveland again.   Last year's crowd, IIRC, was on the Saturday after Thanksgivng so I assumed that the students were gone.  This time, I assume that the more students will be there.   I plan to get there early.  Case Field I believe only seats about 2450.
