"Wabash has as devoted and loyal following as anyone.  Last year several 'enthusiastic' younger supporters gave some Spartan parents more than they were expecting to experience at a DIII playoff game.

You think they were talking about these guys (this guy)??  http://www.pictureprints.net/albums.php?gallery=1954&photo=0071

LOL

Don't know his name, but I sat next to or close to him a couple of times, he is a riot!   I think he was at Whitewater and quite loud.   Classic pic.

Thanks.... I'll take all of the above.  ;)

If we didn't want them on our field . . .

Painful as it was to watch - I didn't see anything wrong with what happened after the game.  I certainly was on the field in greencastle after the 2001 monon miracle.  Plus - the postgame handshake did occur.

What didn't need to happen was a repeat of 96 and 98, when depauw students tore down the wabash goalposts.  That was beyond the pale and something I'll never forget.

EVERY team has that 2% of fans.

Yet Wabash's 2% of idiots stand out uniquely and shamefully above the rest. Denying it or saying everybody else does it doesn't change the facts. We expect immaturity from young people, however we shouldn't glorify it or try to make it acceptable.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Greensboro (NC) College has just fired their football coach.....
Why? Because The Pride went 2-8 this season......
He was there for 7 years & went 18-52.....
Looks like Greensboro AD Kim Strable wants a program
that can produce...2-8 wasn't good enough at a small
North Caroilina school......I see a lot of movement in the off-season.

Where are you going with that, brother?

Nike: That some schools make a commitment to having a competitive/winning program. I see that Case, Otterbein, NC Wesleyan, Trine & others bring their once dormant football teams to a level that brings wins, exposure and vitality to their teams, schools & alumni. This is good for everyone; the programs & D3 landscape over-all. It improves the quality of the football we all watch...and I applaud that. Regarding off-season movement....once one or two schools make a change..."sometimes" it has a domino effect. That's all....just my observation.

And your wish one of those dominoes hits Delaware?

BTW CWRU reported record giving last year.  Now improved athletics on campus isn't the only improvement on campus, but...

Holy crap, are you seriously harboring all of this hate from something that happened SIX years ago?  Turn the page already.

I didn't see any hate in that message, merely a statement of fact.  Yes, every team has fans that act like morons.  It seems to be a constant that no matter what school you talk to, the fans had problems with the "2%" from Wabash.  I agree with seventies completely.  Wabash fans have a rep for being over the top and vulgar.  Sweeping bad behavior under the rug and giving it tacit approval is not a well-thought out approach.

What, exactly, are you talking about?

I was at the MUC/Wabash game six years ago.  I specifically remember a bunch of MUC students/fans prancing in front of the Wabash stands giving us the finger and hurling obscenities.

Is that the kind of vulgar behavior you say Wabash students have a rep for?  Or are you talking about something else?

I'm not sure what seventies was referring to, but I was told to go and do something that is anatomically impossible after Mount scored their last touchdown in the 45-16 win back in 2002.  The offense committed?  Participating in a chant of Mount always wins.

Yes, that is exactly the behavior I was referring to.  And if you had quoted my entire post instead of simply taking part of it, you would have seen where I said every team has fans that act like idiots, Mount included.  Ask around any board and any team and there will be plenty of people who think Mount fans are the biggest bunch of jerks in the world.  I think that is mostly related to the fact that Mount fans tend to do things like play "We are the Champions" in the parking lot before the Stagg Bowl starts, and dismiss all teams they play as not as good as the Raiders.  Many Mount fans can be accused of being cocky (9 national titles, 17 consecutive conference titles and the two longest winning streaks in NCAA history will do that), but the rep Wabash has earned around D3 is not being cocky, but rather rude, obnoxious, and vulgar as a whole.

Edit: Also, I would hate the fans of a team that consistently beats other teams by 4-5 touchdowns as well.  That also plays a part in people's feelings of Mount fans.
They should have practiced harder.
