Well, it's nice to see Wooster has a roster and outlook for this season, but if you are looking for anything that happened in the past -- say before today, it looks like you are out of luck. There isn't even results from last year, let alone box scores, recaps or pictures. No records or any other archival info. This was all stuff that was on the old Web site. I don't really understand what happened.

While the site looks nice at first glance, there is no beef whatsoever. For an athletic Web site that was widely considered the cream of the NCAC and one of the better ones in Div. III (based mostly on the depth of content and excellent photography), that mantle has been passed well down the road.

No argument there ... however, I suspect that (as Pat Coleman suggested) the historical info will eventually be brought up on the new website.

Bashbro,

Kessler Armbruster is a beast and will help at LB.  Played a lot of DE at Mater Dei last year, big motor, hard nosed kid.

The QB from OH (Chase Belton) will be interesting...comes from a very good, big program (Northmont).  Super fast too on his feet.  Wally said there was a clip on him but I couldn't find it on the Internet.

Nice crop of Frosh backs...  Hunt (AZ), Hodges (Plymouth H.S.), Stevens (6,2 220 from Delta) are a few notables.

Erik Hackett from Indianapolis Arlington will be a beast, 6'2 295 and played in the Indiana North/South All Star.  Maybe he can play center for us  :o

Clegg is a really good one from Chicago (tough kid) who's been a nose guard and 3-year starter from Hinsdale Central.

I am sure there are others but those are some of the highlights.

WAF!

I probably should have linked to this when I mentioned it.  Mr. Belton looks like a really good athlete from the clip.  It'll be interesting to see if he cracks the depth chart at QB or if he moves to another spot...I'd guess he has the ability to play at a number of spots on the field if it comes to that.

Defensive Line

All three took major hits and I don't see a big difference in the 3 groups yet.

1)   Wabash might have the least returning starts but Whyde is a STUD! I think he is Wabash's best chance to NCAC Defensive Player of the year.  Plus, guys like McClintic, Cloggins, and Brock provide to be more than quality backups a year ago with plenty of time under their belts.
2)   Wooster, with Wade, Drake, Moore, and Kurt Brown all back this group barley edges out Wittenburg's group.  Wooster will not be lacking size up front.
3)   Wittenburg returns Vallery off a nice sophomore season and I look for Sherer to take over where he a Davis left off.  The big question for Wittenburg will be SIZE Depth on the DL.  Little guys tend to get hurt easier than big guys and Witt is little up front.

Not to be a party pooper.....BUT, here lies the area of concern for Woo. The D-line lost starters Byrne and Brown at DT, both big, aggressive, experienced players. Wade at DE returns but Drake at DE, arguably the most aggressive player at DE, is not returning. Hope springs eternal that the new D-line will step it up and alleviate any concerns ;)

from what I've heard, this incoming freshman class has been our best ever, overall, at D-Line. They'll be good, but a little young. Here's hoping they can mature quick, we'll need them.

seinfeld

According to Wittenberg's season outlook, they return 21 starters (counting the kickers), including all 11 on offense. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

That is the same Offense that scored a total of 10 pts vs Wabash and Wooster!

Easy now..........

.......see if you read the article and think back a bit, Witt had injuries to some very significant players last season. 3 of their 4 losses were by 3 pts, one of those in OT. Woo played a heck of a final game against Witt in a perfect storm that combined Witt's injuries, Woo's home field, and horrific weather in a muddy mess that played to Woo's strengths.

What Witt is returning is a healthy group of players that beat the bejesus out of Woo at Witt the previous season, 58-7, in one of the most demoralizing games I have had the misfortune to see in person. ;)

Tough to see Evan Sobecki "retire" from football at Wabash but the young man took a lot of hits at Penn and Wabash. Great young man who made a difficult decision but a wise one.

Belton looks great in that video-- great stride when he runs, super quick release, nice ball, everything. He looks like the real deal. That's exciting.

Sobecki quit?

wabco

Don"t have any special knowledge about Sobecki but I could not find him in a quick look at the roster(could be my eyesight problem).

Given ER's past history utilizing/developing/basing his game on a fine running back offense, I would think NOW IS THE TIME for an aspiring RB to show his stuff and establish position in an offense ready to headline him.  There are a number of Frosh candidates along with some So and Jrs.  Could be a fun camp and if someone has really worked ... a suprise breakthrough.  Hope we do not have RB by committee, but then that is up to ER.

Neymeier better be working up our next center.  That is another real opportunity for the right person.  I don't think there is an heir apparent or other person with an edge for that position and luckily Tony is coaching this year which will add a direct experience to the teaching.

WabashOline09

Evan's knees may have finally forced him into retirement. Kid was alreadys going hard to the point of injury. I'm sorry for him.

As for that QB from Ohio... wow. If he works out for Coach Raeburn, can you imagine the oppertunities it opens up on O? Give or take on the option read, we will have a burner in contact with the rock.

Any video on the kid from Mater Dei?

It appears from the video his name was the opposing teams scouting report! ;D

"CHASE" Belton. ;)
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

BashDad

I'll applaud that pun. funny, funny.

do any of you ohio guys have more perspective on belton?

He's listed at 6'1 on the wabash website, but only at 5'11 on his high school's (which probably means he's like 5'10). From what I've seen, this would be the only reason he's not playing with the big boys. His bro, who is 6'5, is the qb at Miami (OH).

In any case, I continue to be excited. A real steal, I think.

If Evan is done with ball, I wish him all the best.   He was a tough and talented runner that did take a bunch of hits in his time.  Inside running backs can sometimes have shorter careers.

Belton could be someone to build a high-powered offense around.  I am curious as to what other schools may have had interest in him.
